In 2019, Fry was selected to be a member of the NHL’s first Female Hockey Advisory Committee where she helps guide the NHL as they strive to be more inclusive of women and girls. In 2020, Fry was part of a team that brought the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association to Arizona. Kim Magee is a second generation pilot from Iowa in the US. Having got her license at the age 19, she has achieved a huge amount in the ballooning world in a relatively short period of time. Kim has represented USA at the Women's World Championship, she has won the US BFA Long Jump and last year she did 2 World Record flights. So she is now the holder of six FAI World Hot Air Balloon records . Three years ago, with her husband Adam, Kim set up the not for profit Balloon Training Academy. They help people get into ballooning and improve safety in the ballooning community. They have helped about 40% of all new pilots earn their rating in the USA and provide many continuing education resources.

Fresh from an emotional victory at the US Women's Championship, WGM Sabina Foisor joined me to discuss her impressive victory. Sabina's mother, WGM Cristina Foisor, passed away at the beginning of the year, so it has been a trying year for Sabina. Sabina talked openly about her mother's legacy and the loss that Sabina and her loved ones have endured. She also discussed how her mother's passing affected her tournament preparation and gave her perspective while she competed for the title. We also talked about the 2017 Women's World Championship in Iran, cooking, growing up in a chess family in Romania, and Sabina gave a few chess book recommendations. Follow Sabina on twitter here.
