May 9, 2018, 6-7pm PDT: #CTR guest, Robert Brown, the creator, and lead singer for steampunk band, Abney Park, joins host Cheri Wilson to discuss what it takes to pay the bills as an independent, fan-fuelled, artist. Brown is also the author and creator of both books and games tied to the band and the steampunk world. With platforms like Go Fund Me, Indigogo, Patreon, and more, artists of all mediums are now able to crowdsource a living, or at least supplement them.  There are some hurdles as well. Releasing exclusive content to a limited audience is not always in the artist's best interest and balancing when that once exclusive content can be made public so as not to upset patrons is tricky for some. The time commitment to create exclusive content is worth considering.too.
