The shaky ceasefire in Gaza is in danger of collapsing, but the genocide of the Palestinian people has not been paused. On Feb. 25, Israeli tanks stormed Jenin, the heart of the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank, for the first time since the Second Intifada. From Donald Trump's declarations that the US should “own” Gaza to promises to deport pro-Palestine student activists, the new administration's intentions to accelerate the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and criminalize solidarity with Palestinians have been made clear. Abby Martin, independent journalist and host of Empire Files, joins The Real News to help analyze how war on Palestine is expanding and evolving.Read the transcript of this livestream here. It's an EmMajority Report Thursday! Emma speaks with Mike Prysner of the Empire Files to discuss Tulsi Gabbard's nomination to be U.S. Director of National Intelligence. Then, she speaks with journalist Erin Reed, author of the Erin In The Morning newsletter on SubStack, to discuss Rep. Nancy Mace's recent decision to introduce legislation to bar Rep. Sarah McBride, the only trans legislator in the upcoming Congress, from using the Capitol Hill bathrooms. First, Emma runs through updates on the ICC's issuing of arrest warrants for the leaders behind Israel's genocide of Palestinians, Israel's new one-sided ceasefire pitch for Lebanon, the failure of Bernie's Israel resolution in the Senate, the passage of the anti-non-profit bill in the House, US military aid to Ukraine, the Gaetz ethics report, Pete Hegseth's history of sexual assault allegations, and Linda McMahon's history of hiring people with sexual assault allegations, before watching a little more from the UN as they finally begin to hold Israel to account for their ethnic cleansing of Gaza. Mike Prysner then joins, diving right into Trump's pick of one Tulsi Gabbard for his Director of National Intelligence, and the oddly underwhelming critique of her in the face of myriad problematic potential appointments, tackling how most of the mainstream criticisms of her focus on her odd foreign policy beliefs (support for dictators, Edward Snowden), leaving her deep ties to a deeply ideological religious organization untouched. Expanding on this latter element, Prysner parses through the history and evolution of the Science of Identity Foundation, a religious organization (or ‘cult' to some ex-members) founded by former Hare Krishna member Chris Butler, who – claiming to be THE messenger from God – established and grew this community around himself, with explicit, long-term plans to establish and grow their role in American politics, first taking root in Hawaii with the rise of Gabbard's parents, before she, having been groomed for the role from a young age, became the first elected to Congress. Going even deeper, Mike walks Emma through the central ideological beliefs of the organization, and how they fundamentally shape their education around islamophobia and homophobia, with a near-constant exposure to rampantly and explicitly anti-muslim and anti-LGBTQ sermons from Butler himself, ingraining these beliefs in children, before they step back to examine the community's history of intimidation and harassment of ex-members and critics. Wrapping up, Prysner unpacks Tulsi's role as a political chameleon, from her odd foreign policy takes to her Bernie-to-leaving-the-left pipeline, as a reflection of the organization's deep desire to climb the rungs of power – something expressed during her time in the military as well – and paints a picture of the role the Gabbard family play within the Science of Identity Foundation as a whole. And in the Fun Half, Emma, Matt Binder, Brandon Sutton, and the MR Crew react to the breaking news that former Rep. Matt Gaetz withdrew his nomination to be Trump's incoming Attorney General, and how some new exclusive CNN reporting on his conduct may have contributed to his withdrawal. The crew also strolls down memory lane to remember when Gaetz defended his relationship with his (completely real) adopted son, Nestor. They then look into the grisly allegations outlined in a 2017 police report regarding sexual assault investigation into Trump's Defense Secretary pick, Pete Hegseth. After, they check in on Emma's spicy appearance on "Piers Morgan Uncensored", where Emma made Piers visibly uncomfortable because a woman wouldn't listen to him telling her to be quiet. While Democrats are looking for scapegoats to blame for their losses on election day, Donald Trump is busy making cabinet and administration appointments. When it comes to US policy on issues ranging from the climate crisis to Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza, from public health policy to reproductive rights and labor rights and civil rights, from trade wars to mass deportations, one thing is clear: a lot is about to change. But between Trump's own contradictory statements and a corporate, independent, and social media ecosystem overflowing with conjecture, misinformation, propaganda, and partisan hackery, it is difficult to know what exactly is coming, how we should be preparing for it, and how we can fight it.So what are we facing, really? How do we get ready for the fight ahead? What tools do we need to parse fact from fiction in this critical moment, when talk is everywhere but truth is in short supply? What lessons from the last Trump administration can we use to effectively navigate the very different political terrain we're on and media ecosystem we're in today? In this livestream, we dug into these questions (and answered yours!) with independent media makers Abby Martin of Empire Files, Francesca Fiorentini of “The Bitchuation Room” podcast, and Kat Abughazaleh of Mother Jones.Studio: David Hebden, Cameron Granadino, Adam ColeyProduction: Maximillian AlvarezHelp us continue producing radically independent news and in-depth analysis by following us and becoming a monthly sustainer.Sign up for our newsletterLike us on FacebookFollow us on TwitterDonate to support this podcast

As the U.S. & Israeli war in the Middle East continues to expand with new threats of a significant Israeli attack on Iran, the Pentagon last week sent thousands of additional troops to the region. The USS Harry S Truman has been preparing for much of 2024 for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and departed on September 20th. Squadrons of F-15E, F-16 and F-22 fighter jets, along with A-10 attack aircraft, will not replace the American troops and equipment already in the region, but instead will now supplement them. The history of resistance and refusal within the ranks of active-duty servicemembers is usually hidden or when it is mentioned, it's maligned by the mainstream media and politicians. To dig into some of that history, the lessons for the anti-war movement, and what you should know if you yourself are going to be deployed or know someone who's going to be deployed, we're joined today by Mike Prysner. He's an Iraq war veteran turned anti-war organizer, a producer of The Empire Files, co-host of the podcast Eyes Left and much more.Support the show

In this powerful episode we share a live interview with renowned journalist and filmmaker Abby Martin [https://x.com/AbbyMartin]. which we attended. Upstream Podcast [https://www.upstreampodcast.org/] did the interview, with the event sponsored by All Power Books in Los Angeles. Hosts Robert Raymond and Della Duncan engage in a wide-ranging conversation with Abby, known for her unapologetic anti-imperialist stance. They delve into the interconnected issues of US imperialism, global capitalism, and environmental destruction. The discussion covers her upcoming documentary, "Earth's Greatest Enemy," which focuses on the US military's unparalleled contribution to climate change and environmental degradation. The U.S. military is the largest institutional source of climate emissions on the planet—and yet it's exempt from the climate protocols that aim to reduce emissions. However, this is not the only way the US Empire harms the planet. Abby also shares insights from her previous work, including her film "Gaza Fights for Freedom," and her experiences in Jerusalem. This episode is a must-listen for anyone committed to understanding the deep-rooted issues of imperialism and the urgent need for systemic change. One week after Aaron Bushnell set himself on fire in an extreme act of Protest for Palestine – the world has been awe-struck by his galvanizing act of courage, with his last words being Free Palestine. Across the world, including in Yemen and Gaza, Bushnell is being memorialized as a martyr for Palestine as Israel continues its genocide in Gaza that has left over 30,000 people dead. His protest was not only moving but stood in stark contrast to the empty rhetoric given by so-called liberal politicians who've done very little to stop Israel from continuing its war on civilians. Bushnell was horrified not only by Israel's actions but also by his own air force. It was recently revealed that Bushnell had classified information about the U.S. Air Force aiding Israel in bombing Gaza.Yet media searches of Bushnell's name produce headlines and articles framing his protest as a mental health issue, inferring that he may have been suicidal. YouTube even includes “suicide hotline” messages under videos discussing Bushnell. So, who was Aaron Bushnell, and how was his extreme act of protest actually in line with a long history of active military servicemembers who had a conscious awakening during their service, including in the Vietnam War era? To talk more about this, we are joined by Mike Prysner, a former Iraq war veteran turned antiwar activist and organizer. Prysner is also a producer and journalist with the Empire Files. He openly calls on military members to refuse to serve in the U.S. military and draws attention to the global class war.Support the showMintPress News is a fiercely independent. On February 25, active duty U.S. Airman Aaron Bushnell set himself on fire in front of the Israeli embassy in protest of the war on Gaza. He screamed “Free Palestine” as he burned. His heroic act has shown the profound shift in U.S. consciousness against Israel's war on Palestine, and inspired even greater resistance. I ask Abby what the seeds of this massive project were, and why the military-industrial complex is the "elephant in the room" in the political discourse on human-caused climate change. Listen to the extended version of this interview on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/audio-genocidal-91798227Israel's genocide in Gaza has shocked the conscience of the entire world, with an endless flow of videos and images of Palestinian children cut into pieces by American bombs dropped by Israeli warplanes deliberately intended to destroy a civilian population. Despite the explicitly genocidal rhetoric of Israeli officials, Western leaders continue to proclaim their support for Israel's right to “defend itself.” But this war on Gaza is different from past wars, not only in the level of Israeli aggression, but in the reaction on the street, from the Middle East to the United States. Israel is losing the narrative war. Most people want to see a ceasefire and tens of thousands have protested across the US to demonstrate their opposition to Biden's unconditional support for this genocide. To discuss Israel's genocidal onslaught in Gaza ahead of a looming ground invasion and how it has the potential to snowball into a catastrophic regional war, Rania Khalek was joined by journalist Abby Martin, creator and host of The Empire Files. Emergency Broadcast - Israel's Hospital Massacre & the Gaza Genocide by Empire Files
It's our first FDR of Kink Month 2023, so Capt'n Max & I are set to let our kink flag fly & recap the amazing Abby Martin's art party, which we do—but that's not all we do… Hours before showtime, Hamas attacked Israel, killing 100s of Israelis & taking dozens of hostages in what many call “Israel's 9/11,” its bold ferocity demonstrating Israel's breakdown in so-called “intelligence.” In response, Israeli forces are bombing Gaza, murdering 100s of Palestinians with vengeful vows of war & more war. I'm pretty shaken up about it, so I talk about it, but there's no simple solution to this war or any war, except never to start a war, occupation or apartheid colonization in the first place, no matter how “holy” the land. Warning: Explicit Conversations About Politics, Culture, & S3xuality! Make Kink Not War! That's the Bonobo Way & my motto every day—especially in the kink-positive month of Kinktober—though wars are not kinky, at least not by my definition, which involves consenting adults only. Indeed, war is the opposite of kink, though gruesome *war p0rn* floods our media. I talk about learning a lot about the brutal apartheid nature of the Zionist occupation of Palestine from none other than Abby Martin whose “Gaza fights for Freedom” & other Empire Files documentaries are excellent reports on the plight of Palestinians. Capt'n Max *discovered* the amazing Abby Martin back in 2014 on the once-great RT (Russian TV), & then I invited her on The Dr. Susan Block Show for a remarkable interview. Last year, Abby & Mike Prysner interviewed Dr. Suzy on their Dosed Show about sex, violence & the Bonobo Way & a couple years earlier, she talked politics & cuckolding on Media Roots with Abby's brother Robbie Martin. Abby & Mike also attended our erotic-verging-on-orgiastic Bonoboville Reunion, so yes, you can see them (mostly in the background) on our ViceTV piece (now over 225K views!) So, we were delighted to join Abby & Mike at their art show & going away party at Queerspace Little Secret. What a fun time dancing, chatting & ogling Abby's gorgeous abstract art. I was honored that Abby gave me “Hell Yeah,” one of her most beautiful paintings, as a gift. What a good time AND also an aphrodisiac, at least for Max & I. Even though, thx to Max's shingles, we can't touch each other's most intimate places right now, we managed to have a little orgasmic sex right after the party & before this show. Go Bonobos for disabled senior sex! Great music is the soundtrack to great sex, & sweet sounds played a big part in Abby's party. Go Bonobos for Max Collins of Eve 6, Mz Neon, Metal Mother, Televangel + DJs Succubus & Infernx! Music also plays a recurring role in this FDR podcast, starting with Max in the afterglow warbling “I'm in the Mood for Love.” Then moving onto the return of Brady calling in from Texas to sing his new song (part of his upcoming antiwar album), “Just Say No to NATO.” But the best singer is Brady's SUZY Award-winning dog Rufio crooning to the moon, “Just Say Noooo to NATOOooooo.” Other subjects on the Love Train include Olivia Wilde, niece of late great Counterpunch publisher Alex Cockburn – pronounced Cohburn, not cock-burn—though we have a field day with that pronunciation; coconut oil (good for cock burn); GW Bush & the Yale Skull & Boneheads, plastic in our water; & the terrible attacks on Ekolo ya Bonobo. Stay tuned for our arbitration against Zuck the META cuck making mega bucks off our exploitation & then rewarding our hard work with deactivation. And Be Bonobo. Even if we can't stop wars in the Middle East, Ukraine or anywhere in this war-torn world, we can at least make our voices heard - unless we're censored... Well, we can at least Be Bonobo & make peace through pleasure in our own lives. It's a start! Happy Kink Month 2023! It may not seem like it for sooo many reasons, but it really is a better time than ever to… Make Kink Not War. On this edition of Parallax Views, Jordanian filmmaker Darin J. Sallam joins Parallax Views to discuss her feature-length debut film Farha. Written and directed by Sallam, Farha tells the coming-of-age story of a brave, curious young woman (played by Karam Taher in a tour-de-force acting debut) living in 1948 Palestine who dreams of going to the city, receiving an education, and becoming a teacher. Farha's life is irrevocably altered, however, when Israeli military invade her Palestinian village in a series of violent events that have become known in the Arab world as the Nakba or "The Catastrophe". Farha is a deeply moving story of survival that attempts to shed light on a story Palestinian Arabs have passed down through the generations and may well mark the first feature-length film that isn't a documentary to feature the Nakba as a key element of its story. In this conversation Darin and I discuss a number of topics including: - Her experiences directing the film - Working with the cast, which included such well-known actors of the Arab world as Ali Sulliman of the TV series Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan and Ashraf Barhom (The Kingdom, Paradise Now); the casting of the lead character - The meaning of the title Farha and how it refers to not only the main character but the Arabic word for "Joy" - The development of the movie, the difficulty getting funding, and depicting the events of the Nakba in a thoughtful manner - The emotions that came out during the filming of the production especially amongst the Gazan refugees who served as extras in the film - The motif of water in the movie - The accusations of antisemitism that have been made against Farha - Whether or not the story of Farha ends on a hopeful note - The approach taken to depicting the Nakba in Farha; why Darin chose not to show gory violence - Farha as a universal, humane story which can speak to many different people - The passing down of the story of the Nakba throughout the generations and putting that story to film - Does Darin see a bit of Farha in herself? - The positive reactions to the film thus far - Telling the truth - Farha as not just a story about the Nakba but a story about love, community, loss, trauma, and memory - Liberation and loss; the open wound of the Nakba - Being thrust into traumatic events without a choice; surviving the trauma and living because one must do so - Farha being submitted to the Academy Award - And much, much more! In the second segment of the show, journalsit Andy Worthington, author of The Guantanamo Files: The Stories of the 774 Detainees in America's Illegal Prison, joins us to discuss the unsettling history of military torture and detainment at Guantanamo Bay since 2002. Guantanamo Bay has been in the news, at least within the alternative media sphere again, after former Gitmo prisoner Mansoor Adayfi claimed in an interview with Mike Prysner of The Empire Files and Eyes Left Podcast that he was tortured by U.S. 2024 Presidential hopeful Governor Ron DeSantis at the infamous military prison. This conversation is a bit interesting as when it was recorded Andy was skeptical that the timelines surrounding DeSantis' time at Guantanmo Bay lined up with Mansoor's testimony (although this is not to say that he thinks Mansoor was lying, but rather that the story needed more clarification). However, about five days after our initial conversation, Andy and I spoke again. At that point Andy had spoken with Mansoor in order to clarify the issues. This clarification appears to add more weight to Mansoor's claim and means that the DeSantis/Gitmo story merits serious investigation. Among the topics discussed in this conversation: - The origins of Guantanamo Bay (alternatively known as GTMO or Gitmo) and the types of torture that went on there - A prison designed by the George W. Bush administration in the early days of the War on Terror to detainee terrorism suspects without much interference/oversight from courts with regards to what would go on there - Human rights abuses at Guantanamo Bay - How was the veil of secrecy around what went on Guantanamo Bay pierced? - The "enhanced interrogation" euphemism - Guantanamo Bay in the Obama and Trump years - Why has Guantanamo Bay not been shut down despite the controversy around it? - Obama's campaign promise to close the prison - The question of torture's effectiveness in dealing with terrorism - Former detainee Mansoor Adayfi's claims that Ron DeSantis, as a JAG officer, was involved in torture at Guantanamo Bay - The Guantanamo Bay hunger strikes of 2005 (and 2006) - Waterboarding - And much, much more

This week Lara and Michael sit down with one of our generation's most courageous investigative journalists, Abby Martin. Her current work can be seen at Empire Files and she directed the acclaimed documentary "Gaza Fights for Freedom" (2019). Her work took her to Palestine and got her banned from it. She takes us behind the scenes of what it was like to film in Palestine and recounts moments like her infamous interviews where everyday Israelis casually endorse genocide. Abby talks about spending time with the Tamimi family and the warmth of Palestinian culture. Abby shares that many journalist colleagues have emplored her not to talk about Palestine if she wants to keep her job, but she knew that you're not being human if you're not using your platform to call for the freedom of Palestine, and all indigenous peoples and land protectors.

The number of dead was aided by the police. Perhaps through cowardice or racism, Prysner says, the police stood outside and subdued parents while their kids were shot inside. “With car accidents, there are steps you can take to protect your child,” Prysner explains. “There's nothing you can do to protect them from guns other than move to Canada as a refugee of US violence.” Hear Prysner's full take on the shooting and guns in America, an important perspective from a veteran who once loved guns. Click here for the full episode, including the extended interview with Abby Martin, the moment when Abby confronted Nancy Pelosi, the latest dishonest attack from The Young Turks against Aaron Maté, and Biden's stoned moment. The Empire Files' Abby Martin returns to Useful Idiots to speak out against censorship and the corporate media's duplicitous and hypocritical coverage of Russia's war against Ukraine. Censorship is something Abby knows quite a bit about, given that Youtube has removed every single episode of “Breaking The Set,” the show she hosted at RT from 2012-2014. Abby can't help but notice how the corporate media is celebrating Ukrainians for doing things they condemn when the people doing it are, say, Palestinian. “I feel like I woke up in an alternate universe,” she says. “Where there's wall-to-wall coverage of anti-war messaging and everyone decided: ‘We hate war and we support occupied people's right to resist.' “For people like us who have been sounding the alarm on so many heinous US atrocities that are committed in our names on a daily basis, this manufactured outrage is shocking.” “Why now?” she asks. “Where were you all these years? Because people have been dying this whole time.” Why didn't Rachel Maddow cry on TV for Palestinians or Yemenis. Because they US supports the occupation of Palestine and the siege of Yemen. And it's good for the arms industry. And now, Abby, who is bravely calling out the BBC and CNN and New York Times, is, you guessed it, censored. With her videos being scrubbed off Youtube and RT getting banned in so many western countries, it's scary to think how far this censorship could go. “None of us should be okay with this and none of us should be celebrating this,” she says. “I believe in critical thinking and media literacy and the answer to all of this is not censorship.” And as we head closer and closer to war, the danger (and ignorance) grows: “Censoring media poses a big problem because when you are facing down a conflict that could potentially turn into a hot war with two nuclear-armed powers, don't you want the Russian perspective? Don't you want the Chinese perspective?” But say that on TV and you get blacklisted as a Russian apologist. So listen here, because it's getting harder and harder to find real journalists anywhere else. And until we get taken out too, we won't stop searching for reporting and analysis that challenges, and doesn't merely regurgitate, state department talking points. Plus, Trump wants you to lay down your life to fight CRT, Iranian-revenge-killing dating apps, and our new favorite segment: ‘This Week in MSM Nazi Propaganda.'
