When you’re feeling risky, but not too risky, Coca-Cola’s got you covered. The brilliant minds that brought us New Coke are back at it again with a flavor concoction that is sure to win hearts, minds, tastebuds, dollars, and possibly doctor visits. Say hello to Orange Vanilla, which a press release tells us is the first new iteration on that classic Coke flavor in over a decade. The flavor blast from your Creamsicle past will be available in the U.S. starting Feb. 25, but that Orange Vanilla is, at this moment, kept out of reach by Time’s evil grasp hasn’t stopped soda fans from speculating on the sheer possibilities offered by the new flavor. And while some are keeping an open mind, others… well, not so much. Irrational exuberance aside, one does perhaps wonder why now and why Orange Vanilla? Thankfully, Coca-Cola brand director Kate Carpenter filled us all in. “We wanted to bring back positive memories of carefree summer days,” she is quoted in the aforementioned press release as explaining. “That’s why we leaned into the orange-vanilla flavor combination – which is reminiscent of the creamy orange popsicles we grew up loving, but in a classically Coke way.” Ah yes, now does seem like the right time to wax nostalgic about carefree summer days. Coca-Cola, you know us better than we know ourselves. I’m still not drinking this Orange Vanilla nonsense, though.
One of the biggest challenges facing businesses today is keeping up with the changes. If we think back a decade ago, we might remember that once upon a time Facebook was competing with MySpace for social network traffic, Apple’s iPhone was just released, and Amazon was a big online bookstore. We were still shopping mostly in physical shops. In today’s crazy, busy world, consumers often shop online and don’t have a lot of time to debate the merits of one product over another whether it’s online or in a brick-and-mortar store. In an age where instant gratification is the norm, consumers find their favorite products, buy them, and move on to the next item on their to-do lists. That doesn’t mean they are mindlessly buying things. They do, however, make decisions fast while using their subconscious. According to Harvard professor Gerald Zaltman, 95% of all purchasing decisions are subconscious. The way to get potential customers to select your product or services is to craft a positive impression that engages them on a subconscious level. To accomplish this, you need to discern what images or stories will produce positive associations in their minds with your brand. When people see your brand, how do they feel about it? What thoughts, experiences, and emotions come to their minds? How do customers make their buying decisions? What influences those decisions? The actions a customer takes before, during, and after purchasing a product or service define consumer behavior. The behaviors are formed by many factors including emotional, psychological, and social engagement that have an impact on the purchasing decisions of people. Yes, there’s a lot of data and studies out there. Every business is different, however, so relying on third- party data can only take you so far. It’s important to do your own research on what drives the buying decisions of customers in your particular arena. The following strategies and tools can be used to track and study the behavior of your consumers. Larger retailers like Amazon display reviews so prominently because many consumers won’t buy a product these days until they’ve read online reviews about it. However, reviews do far more than provide third-party perspective for consumers. Good reviews can be included in a company’s online marketing campaign. Reviews can also help companies better understand what their customers are looking for. If they see a common complaint about a given product, they can use that information to fix the problem, thereby increasing customer loyalty to their brand and stepping ahead of their competition. Consistent comments and patterns within reviews, including those of your competition, can help you learn a lot about your audience. Google Analytics offers up a wealth of information. It can provide demographics about your audience and tell you which posts and pages on your website drew their attention. You can learn where your traffic is coming from, your bounce rate, and so much more. The data can be used to help you prioritize your online marketing efforts. By making certain adjustments after analyzing this data, you can grow your audience and boost your conversion rate. Keywords are useful and flexible tools. We stand to learn so much about people’s buying habits from knowing what they search for. Using tools like Google’s Keyword Planner, Ubersuggest, and other keyword tools let you enter any keyword and discover its search volume, how much it costs on pay per click (PPC) advertising, related keywords, and competition levels. Learning new common keywords that are associated with your niche and their value can significantly boost your marketing efforts and your search engine optimization (SEO). Another great place to search for patterns when gathering data about your audience’s behavior are Q&A; sites like Quora and Yahoo! Answers. Questions about products and services are answered on a very regular basis there. You can search by specific brand and then expand your search...
The nursing industry has seen a great many changes over the last few decades. Nurses are more highly trained than ever before, and the opportunities for advancement have increased. Nursing jobs are in high demand, and that's not likely to change any time soon. Nurses are more diverse, and they have more diverse job opportunities. Nurses are More Educated A nurse's training is much more structured and demanding than in years past making them an integral part of a medical team. Nursing education focuses on a strong science foundation in classroom work. Along with that, practical nursing skills are taught in a clinical setting. Every nurse must pass a national exam no matter what degree they've earned, and there are continuing education requirements in order to keep a license-up-to-date. Many nurses have master's degrees and specialized certifications in fields like cardiology or radiology. Nurses Have Better Job Choices Today more nurses see patients in a variety of settings. Many nurses find working in nursing homes and schools very rewarding. More adventurous nurses might find working as a flight nurse, travel nurse, or cruise nurse more to their liking. Many specialized clinics might have nurses traveling to people's homes, or working in wound care or cancer treatment. Nurses Have More Opportunities As nurses have become more educated, they have gained more opportunities for advancement. As the population ages, geriatric nurses are in demand. With the rise in heart disease, comes a rise in cardiac nursing. Many times it will be a nurse running a clinic or hospital unit. Even nurses working in the typical hospital environment are expected to contribute more to the team designing a patient's treatment plan. Nurses are Diverse Most nurses are women and white. However, nearly 10% of nurses are male, nearly 27% are African American, and nearly 8% are Hispanic. While these numbers do not match the general population these nurses are serving, these numbers are on the rise. The more diverse nursing becomes, the better the nursing profession is able to meet the needs of the general population with appropriate care and compassion. The demand for nurses is so high that becoming a nurse usually means good benefits, higher pay, and flexible schedules. Nursing is a rewarding and meaningful career as well. The opportunities for advancement provide many nurses with a strong and stable career that is accessible to anyone willing to put in the work. The healthcare industry is usually on the cutting edge of technology. Check out this article and some of our others to see what new technological gadgets are available that could make your life easier! The post Nursing is Changing: Here's How appeared first on DAPULSE.
Florida real estate continues to get picked up at high-speed rates. There are many different reasons that about 1,000 new residents are moving to the state every day. While these residents are mainly settling along the Interstate 4 corridor, real estate in most of the state is doing exceptionally well. Florida's Booming Economy It appears as though many residents from further up the Atlantic Seacoast are moving to conduct business in Florida. Sunshine State News reports, “the economy is booming with the state’s adjusted gross income growing by $2 billion in 2017.” The state governor and legislature have been able to pass many business-friendly laws. The state has many well-trained workers who are actively looking to pursue new careers. While remaining largely unreported, Florida has enjoyed the third fastest private job market growth in the United States. The state's outstanding education system is attracting many young families who are ready to put down their roots. International Investors Buying Real Estate Interestingly enough, across the whole of the United States, Florida continues to be the leader in the number of people currently living in another country buying real estate. In fact, almost one in four foreigners purchasing property in the United States chose to buy property in the state. Records show that those buyers come from many diverse locations including Columbia, Australia, Singapore, France, China, Canada, Venezuela, the United Kingdom and Brazil topping the list. There are also more buyers coming from India than ever before. New Home Sales Many retirees from colder climates are choosing to build their dream homes in Florida's warmer climate. Along with foreigners and business executives, they are keeping the economy booming. One of the most popular areas to build in is Miami. RisenLife Realty explains why. “Miami has fortunately avoided much of the inflation that has priced out so many buyers.” While many cities like Seattle have become overpriced with their technology boom, Miami has mostly maintained home prices while becoming a thriving technology hub. Property Investors Even people who are not ready to settle in Florida are finding it an excellent time to invest in Florida real estate. There are very few rental properties available, so landlords can command a steep rental price and still get their property rented quickly. Thanks to the state's pristine climate and outstanding activities, there is also a brisk demand for short-term rentals across the state. There are so many different groups considering buying real estate in Florida that it is hard to see this market doing anything but continue to climb. With the arrival of computers and software, work proves to be simpler. The presence of computers has made project management programs so much easier to use, readily accessible, and faster. Therefore, project management programs are more applicable to current projects in many different disciplines. Here are some industries that have benefited from project management: Architectural Industries Firms in this industry are delivering exceptional work and designs through the use of various project management tools. Moreover, firms are able to avoid any massive losses, realize profitable gains, and create accurate pricing. This is the only way to succeed in a very competitive industry, whereby the design projects you take on can make or break your company’s financial security and most importantly, your reputation. Healthcare and Dental Industries These sensitive industries rely heavily on time management. This is where a project management software is necessary. Imagine if you had an emergency where you had to rush to the hospital and they do not have time–saving specialized techniques to assist the staff with patient visits. This could result in a disastrous outcome because your life depends on every single minute wasted. Dental emergencies can be just as critical as hospital ones. Dentists not only use project management software but they also have to use an array of state-of-the-art technology and progressive methods to treat dental issues, maximize patient time, and office efficiency. Their technologies and software systems have been put into place to facilitate each patient’s visit with an easy walk-in approach. Easy on the patient as well as the staff, it is a win-win situation. Construction Industry With the given deadlines, specified budgets, and limited resources, the construction industry is time constrained, and it benefits a great deal from project management software. In construction, projects are notorious for being late, over budgeted, facing poor communication, and sometimes there are delays that can’t be controlled. Therefore, it is important that the project manager is dedicated from the very beginning of the project to taking a proactive approach. This approach is made effective by using project management software to reduce the delays and poor communications. Warehouse Project Management A warehouse, simply put, is a planned space for the storage and the handling of goods and materials. Project management oversees the process from beginning to end, from warehouse space planning to the delivery and the professional installation of materials. In addition to that, this team also engages other contractors if need be and they present a breakdown structure of the project for their potential clients. Conclusion Project management software helps teams to optimize resource allocation and to carefully plan their projects within the desired timeframe. It improves task management and visibility as well. Teams are able to collaborate effectively with the use of shared sites for discussion and social capabilities, making business much more efficient. With technology moving at a breakneck pace, the speed of business is also increasing at record levels. As we pass the midway point of the year 2018, it is becoming more clear what industries are expected to keep growing. Here are four industries poised to see explosive growth in 2018: RENEWABLE ENERGY Increasing demand by consumers and lawmakers for clean energy is propelling the industry toward the top of the list of business sectors that are rapidly expanding in 2018. Employment in the renewable wind and solar industries are now outpacing job creation in the traditional coal sector. Government support and investors looking to capitalize on the emerging energy sources are also helping to fuel the surge. FREIGHT BUSINESSES Despite the volatility in the international markets caused by impending trade wars and uncertainty in oil prices, freight companies are in fantastic shape heading through the end of 2018. A rapidly changing political scene is opening up new markets. As tensions with Cuba and Iran begin to ease, these countries will provide new opportunities for domestic exporters and the related freight business. New innovations in market intelligence also enable shippers to expand to new markets without taking on as much risk. VIRTUAL REALITY The latest buzzword in gaming and technology is virtual reality. Boasting an extremely high ceiling of potential, it is impossible to say where and when this technology will tap out. In addition to its appeal to hardcore gamers, the technology also has the potential to affect a myriad of industries from education, digital marketing, healthcare applications, and more. While the average price points of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies are still high, this cost will be sure to come down as the applications become accessible to everyone. DIGITAL MARKETING This industry has caught fire in recent years and shows no signs of slowing down. As the lives of everyone become more intertwined with the digital world, marketers will continue to find ways to harness that connectivity to reach more potential customers. The fields of content marketing and digital analytics are especially important for the impact it has on other business growth. The golden age of technology and the continual development of new ways to reach people have propelled these four industries to the top of the charts for growth and profit ceilings. The possibilities are endless with these four industries as they continue to expand to new markets and leverage the power of innovation to grow. Read up on more business news here! A CO2 shortage in the U.K. is threatening the supply of carbonated beverages, including Coca Cola. The limited supply is due to an “unusually high number of closures” of the factories, which produce the gas as a byproduct of the fertilizer industry, according to The Telegraph. There is currently only one carbon dioxide plant operating in the region, and at least five other producers across northern Europe are offline for maintenance. “The U.K. is the worst hit country — only one of its plants is currently operational. The gas is difficult and expensive to import, meaning food and drink producers tend to depend on local suppliers,” The Telegraph reports in an article on the shortage, which is impacting not only the carbonated beverage industry, but poultry production, as well. One of the plants in the U.K. that’s currently shut down is expected to reopen sometime this week, the outlet reports. But in the meantime, companies like Coca Cola are feeling the impact. “We are currently responding to an industry-wide issue that is impacting the supply of CO2 in the U.K. Our focus is on limiting the effect this may have on the availability of our products,” a Coca-Cola European Partners Great Britain spokesperson told Fox News in a statement. “During this time we temporarily paused some of our production lines for short periods, however there has been no disruption to supply to date and we are continuing to fulfil orders to our customers. We are working closely with our suppliers, partners and customers on a number of solutions as the situation develops,” the statement said. However, others are claiming the shortage is in fact being felt by consumers of the popular soda. “This contradicts what some suppliers have been telling their customers,” Rupert Evelyn, a reporter for ITV, wrote on Twitter. Others backed up Evelyn’s claim. “I was in Bookers today and they were limiting purchases of fizzy drinks as a result of shortages,” a user by the name of Jo R tweeted. The beer industry has taken a hit, as well. “It’s already stopping production,” Brigid Simmonds, head of the British Beer and Pub Association, told the BBC. The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) represents both brewers and 20,000 pubs in the U.K. Simmonds said 82 percent of the beer consumed in the U.K. is also produced there and one CO2 supplier told her it wouldn’t be until early July before it was able to get limited production back. Delta Airlines announced Wednesday that it will no longer allow “pit bull type” dogs as service or support animals on board its aircrafts starting on July 10. Delta customers will also be limited to one emotional support animal per flight from that date forward, per the new policy. “Pit bull type” dogs will be added to a long list of service and support animals that are banned from flying Delta, including goats, hedgehogs, and birds of prey. “These updates, which come as the peak summer travel season is underway, are the direct result of growing safety concerns following recent incidents in which several employees were bitten,” the company said in a statement announcing the decision. “The safety and security of Delta people and our customers is always our top priority,” Delta Chief Operating Officer Gil West said in the statement. “We will always review and enhance our policies and procedures to ensure that Delta remains a leader in safety.” Pit bull owners are NOT happy about this decision, to put it mildly. hey @Delta, fuck you. My support dog is a pittbull and I’ll GLADLY use a different airline with my ESA Pitbull ? it’s bullshit that you won’t recognize her as a support animal because of her BREED. pic.twitter.com/G6WprcNuOU — gracie morse (@graciemorsee) June 21, 2018 DON'T FLY @Delta THEY ARE ANTI PITBULL ?? SHAMEFUL ? #DontBullyMyBreed #EndBSL — My Red Smog (@Mygreatredmare) June 20, 2018 F*ck you, @Delta. No dog breed is inherently violent. #endBSL — Chewie (@chewie_the_dawg) June 21, 2018 Some people pointed out that “pit bull type” doesn’t specify any one breed and can be applied to many different dogs. Hi @Delta. Platinum medallion flyer here. Can you explain what you think a “pit bull type dog” is? That’s not actually a breed. What is the basis for your decision? — Lizzie O'Leary (@lizzieohreally) June 21, 2018 Really @Delta ? You’re banning “pit bull type dogs” as support dogs?! Disgusting how you think it’s okay to vilify an entire breed. I guess this includes my sweet boy as well as @scrowder ‘s @HopperCrowder pic.twitter.com/qQqOCm3yen — Maxine (@Irate_Ginger) June 21, 2018 Others on Twitter argued that banning a breed as a service animal violates the Americans with Disabilities Act, but commercial airlines are exempt from the ADA. The Air Carrier Access Act is the federal law that protects the rights of people with disabilities in air travel. Are you kidding me, @delta? The Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits discrimination against the use of service dogs in public spaces, INCLUDING breed-specific discrimination. Also, "pit bull type dog" is not a breed. — Nikki Burdine (@NikkiBurdine) June 21, 2018 The ACAA section of the Department of Transportation’s website doesn’t mention dog breeds when talking about how the law applies to service animals on planes, but it also doesn’t say that airlines aren’t allowed to exclude certain breeds. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals released a statement criticizing Delta’s decision Thursday afternoon, saying that the new policy “does not achieve its stated public safety aim and spreads false and life-threatening stereotypes.” A statement from @ASPCA CEO Matt Bershadker about @Delta’s policy to ban pit bulls. pic.twitter.com/R42IA2wHKX — ASPCA (@ASPCA) June 21, 2018 BuzzFeed News has reached out to Delta Airlines for comment and clarification on what the airline means by “pit bull type dogs.” The post Delta Just Banned “Pit Bull Type” Dogs As Service And Support Animals And People Are Pissed appeared first on DAPULSE.
With child separations emerging as a growing crisis at the US border, government contracting has become more controversial than ever. All week, Microsoft has struggled with questions about its contracts with ICE, particularly a January agreement that CEO Satya Nadella defended as a standard IT support contract. On Tuesday, more than 100 employees signed a letter calling on Microsoft to cancel the contract, writing simply “we refuse to be complicit.” Although Microsoft has captured the public’s attention, it’s far from the only big tech company currently working with ICE. Public records show tens of millions of dollars in contracts with branches of Dell, Motorola and HP, providing crucial hardware and other infrastructure for the agency. Those contracts have largely escaped the Microsoft backlash, in part because of their lower profile and in part because they were routed through dedicated government contracting divisions. Still, they show that if Microsoft does move to separate itself from federal immigration agencies, there will be plenty of tech companies waiting to take its place. Many of the current contracts are simple IT services. Dell’s federal systems branch has over $22 million in active contracts with ICE, many of them software licenses and support for Microsoft products. The company did not respond to questions about its contracting policies. Motorola is also a significant ICE contractor, primarily through its Motorola Solutions division. The company has more than $15 million in active contracts with the agency, primarily for radios and other tactical communications equipment. Motorola Solutions also makes body cameras for police agencies, and was listed earlier this month as a client of Amazon’s controversial facial recognition system, although there’s no indication that Amazon’s system was used in connection with ICE. Motorola did not respond to questions about its contracting policies. ICE SIGNED A $76 MILLION DATA CENTER AGREEMENT WITH HP ENTERPRISE SERVICES IN 2015 The largest tech-adjacent contract is a $76 million data center agreement made with HP Enterprise Services in June 2015, more than $42 million of which has already been awarded. The contract is currently being serviced by Perspecta, a company separated from a subsequent HPE spinoff earlier this month, but has been handled by various HP offshoots since the contract was signed. “As a company, HPE is opposed to any policy that separates children from their families,” the company told The Verge, “and we urge the administration to change its policy in order to keep families together.” HP’s consumer branch also emphasized the independence of both Perspecta and its HP Enterprise Services spinoff, as well as the company’s opposition to family separation policies. “HP does not support measures that discriminate against any group,” the company said in a statement. “We condemn the current practice of separating families at the border and call on the US government to stop the practice and reunite the families.” Perspecta did not respond to a request for comment. CEOs from across the industry have called for the White House to stop the separations, including leaders from Apple, Google, Uber, and even Microsoft itself. Neither Motorola nor Dell has commented publicly on the practice. It remains to be seen whether either company will face any internal mobilization to curtail ICE-related contracts. Usually, when you’re a big company and you’re planning to announce a competition in which you give away a $50,000+ prize or in this case a car… you plan ahead of the competition day to make sure everything is working fine prior to announcing it. In this case, it should have been prior to starting the actual game. Unfortunately, Mercedes-Benz USA just received some bad reputation, as many people who signed up for the competition flooded their social media accounts because of a huge error which kicked people out of the game before it even started. Some didn’t even get a chance to begin as they were shown an error screen. Mercedes-Benz USA decided to suspend the game and restart it one hour after the previously announced time which many people did not take well. The entire point or ultimate goal of the game is to follow a car on your phone screen with your finger, but the catch is you cannot lift your finger at all. The last person that is left with their finger still on the car (screen) would ultimately win the car… Sound’s easy right? well, not really since the game could go on indefinitely until only one person remains. Since the prize is a car… we doubt many people will give up easily. If you want to sign up before the second retake of the game click here Twitter Hey #LastFanStanding players, we’re still on. Samsung has already confirmed what is arguably the Galaxy S9’s most significant upgrade, but now following display leaks, battery information and detailed specifications, two further slips by Samsung have confirmed a third Galaxy S9 variant and what is set to be the Galaxy S9’s biggest secret feature… Let’s break them down… 1. Intelligent Scan Vs Face ID Credit here goes to SamCentral which dug through Samsung’s latest Android Oreo beta and found a hidden feature which looks like the company’s answer to Face ID on the iPhone X. It is called ‘Intelligent Scan’, it is a combination of both iris and facial recognition. Accompanying text in the beta states the two technologies work “together for better results even in low or very bright light” and for “better accuracy and security”. There is also an animation hidden within the source code (SecSettings es awsem_intelligentscan_help.mp4) which has been extracted below: For those who want to dig around in the Oreo beta themselves, the Settings APK has been uploaded here. Will Intelligent Scan be a rival to Face ID? I’m not convinced, but it may be the best alternative we’ve seen. Certainly iris recognition is extremely secure (more so than facial recognition used in Face ID) and combining the two is an interesting metric, but without a 3D mapping dot projector as used in Face ID it may be more easily fooled by 2D images. Time will tell. Time will also tell if Samsung brings Intelligent Scan to existing Galaxy smartphones. The Galaxy S and Galaxy Note ranges have had both iris and facial recognition scanners for a while now, so theoretically Samsung should be able to bring this feature to them as well. 2. Samsung Confirms Dual Sim Galaxy S9 Plus Spotted by MSPowerUser, dual sim variants of previous Galaxy smartphones have long been popular so this isn’t entirely unexpected news. But the interesting thing is these models have usually been reserved for Asian markets yet the model (SM-G960F/DS – aka ‘Dual Sim’) is listed on a holding page for Samsung’s German website indicating the model will come to Europe for the first time. Whether this also suggests a US launch for Galaxy dual sim models is on the cards remains to be seen, but such a move would be a boon to smartphone owners with two network contracts or separate home and work phones. Couple this new information with the fact I exclusively revealed the (somewhat disappointing) Galaxy S9’s final design last month and there’s little left for Samsung to show when it launches the smartphone in February (despite some impressive internals). In fact, for my money, the most exciting thing about the Galaxy S9 is likely to be the popular legacy features Samsung has kept when so many rivals are discarding them… Original Article Forbes The post Samsung Confirms Galaxy S9 As Secret Feature Leaks appeared first on DAPULSE.
At least one Facebook employee has been interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller as part of his investigation into potential Russian interference with the 2016 election, reports Wired. But don’t put on your conspiracy hats just yet. Wired’s source indicated that the Facebook staffer was associated with the Trump campaign, which could mean just about anything. For a major spender on social media, which that campaign certainly was, it is common for Facebook, Google, Twitter, and other properties selling ads to have a liaison with the client. Since Facebook is also up to its eyes on Russia-related inquiries, it makes perfect sense that someone acting as go-between or advisor for the company and the campaign would be interviewed as a matter of course. Certainly no wrongdoing is implied. The Facebook staffer would be the primary source for any information relating to Trump campaign spending, including whether or not there was any knowledge of or involvement in the Russian side of things — again, not to imply anything, just to say if there’s anything to know, that person would know it. As Facebook was more strongly targeted by Russian bots and trolls during the election than its rivals, it makes sense that it would be pulled in like this, but don’t be surprised if others have a chance to chat with the special counsel’s team as well. I’ve asked Facebook for comment. Original Article TechCrunch The post Facebook staff reportedly interviewed in Mueller investigation appeared first on DAPULSE.
