In today's culture, we hear much about the idea of an “OPPRESSIVE” class seeking to oppress a lesser “PRIVILEGED” class of people. Things like disabilities or skin pigmentation or cultural differences or even some non immutable differences are used… such as “non binary” states of mind or financial incomes are considered as contributors to a highly theorized method of denying God & instead strengthening the CORRUPT nature without ever experiencing wisdom and the BLESSINGS of Liberty. In proverbs 28 we will gain some knowledge of how to better understand the TRUE causes of oppression, and how to apply God's Wisdom to navigate it. We are fortunate to have both Old Testament & New Testament examples of the "Shepherd King" metaphor for instruction in leading God's people. However the New Testamanet spells out what qualifications the pastor/elder of God's local church should possess to be suited for the job. This is helpful, because it cuts the number of candidates -- to properly represent the actual “small” percentage of those who are truly gifted / called for the responsibility. Yet Proverbs 27 gives us some very practical application from its WISDOM on how those in the oversight of God's people should interact with their local church congregation. In Proverbs 26 the illustration is clear. When someone sets a trap to wrongful harm a person, they themselves will likely fall prey to their own trap. Easy enough.. However I would add that this type of “trap setting” is the very plan BIBLICAL idea to the sin of hate is manifested. When one finds a hate stirring up in their heart for another person, ideas of vengeance, revenge, or some type of harm causing comes to one's mind. However the scriptures are VERY CLEAR that any type of vengeance for even the harshest of crimes (such as murder) is left for the LORD to administrate. Thus, hatred in an action to plan and execute a way to “get back” at someone for treating you wrong. Help fund the podcast: Patreon Listen to other podcasts produced by Generation Mars Media
It seems God hides something, and Kings search it out. In Hezekiah's case he was put in many positions in which he was forced to seek the answer from God in order to lead his people. The king and his advisors need this same type of refining in order to rule with wise judgment. In Hezekiah's life he is shown consulting with his leaders and commanders, going to the temple with the rulers of the city to sanctify themselves before the Lord, while working with the priests to reform the temple order, and encouraging the Levites to continue performing priestly duties. This is what the “refining” process looks like in an orderly leadership. Help fund the podcast: Patreon Listen to other podcasts produced by Generation Mars Media
The divine equivalence that Wisdom personified is described in Provers is a needful precedent as we explore Proverbs chapter 24. Because this sometimes neglected understanding of Wisdom presented in the proverbs text needs to be firmly set in order to get the importance of the instruction given to us. In fact, Wisdom has a qualitative factor associated with God. Furthermore, Wisdom will later in the Scriptures will be revealed as that same qualitative factor associated with the Lord Jesus Christ. This section of Proverbs (22:17 – chapter 24) is a separate collect titled, “Sayings of the Wise”. It is composed of 30 different sayings (22:20) that are structured a little different from the typical one verse style. It usually contains a chunk of verses that read like a discourse similar to chapters 1-9. If these are words of truth and divine related counsels that are to be applied to the innermost part of the person, for the purpose to direct your faith in God… how important is it for us to take in and apply what is about to be instructed? “A good name” is very important concept to grasp early on in life. It is saddening when children have NOT been instructed that their decisions represent their family and not merely themselves. Not only does poor decisions cause grief to the parents, it brings a shameful quality to the family name. So too, when parents are careless and selfish in their actions without realizing the ripple effect it has on the entirety of the family unit. A good reputation is in the same ballpark as “divine wisdom” Help fund the podcast: Patreon Listen to other podcasts produced by Generation Mars Media
The Apostle Peter says that husbands are dwell with their wife with understanding, and respect as partners in Christ. He also instructs wives to be honoring and walk in submissive behavior towards their husbands leadership, much like Sarah did with Abraham. Now was Sarah perfect? No, but at the end of the day despite her marital struggles, she submitted to Abraham's calling, and at times God used her to help Abraham make the right decisions for the family. Veres by verse study of Proverbs Chapter 20, in which we come to discover more about the "kingship" passages in Proverbs. SPOILER ALERT.... these verses speak of Christ as the King, with imagery of kings David and Solomon in their time of peace and love for God's people. They were always meant to be a foreshadow of the KING of KINGS, the Christ to be revealed in the unfolding redemptive history of salvation. Ethical or moral qualities are more important than material possessions. Folly is an ethical concept, fools do things that deny God and bring about actions that are contrary / opposite to Him. To top it off their speech does not reflect the reality of God's divine character. Also keep in mind the term poor can also be translated as “innocence”. This is important to help us understand what I want to draw from today's teaching topic, “the poor”. Help fund the podcast: Patreon Listen to other podcasts produced by Generation Mars Media
The instructor of wisdom and what he says will be profound and possibly… mysterious. However one must desire WISE speech rather than the foolish speech that brings one harm, death, gossip, bribery, haughtiness, unnecessary arguments, resisting correction, and other antisocial behaviors. Instead, the heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. Because when you see a man hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him. King David did not manage his household very wisely, rather he seemed more obsessed with the concept of “the house of God”. So Solomon learned from observing these mistakes (as one with wisdom would), and gained a spiritual awareness of how a man's household management does hold importance to God. Personification is taking attributes of humans and applying it to animals, or abstract notions in a story. In poetry this is often used as a literary device. One thing that is beneficial about this world system, it brings to surface quickly those who are for the Lord and those who are false. Those who are false will quickly be overcome by the strong persistent pull of worldy temptation. Perseverance and godly devotion will be the integrity of those who do not stumble in temptation. Divine Wisdom will always provide the solution that is both practical & purely ethical. Where as worldly wisdom is earthly (in the sense of not containing eternal value), sensual (subject to one's unrighteous appetite), demonic (reflects the actions of a demon). It contains envy and self-seeking attributes. Its outcomes are confusion and every evil thing. Unlike the previous chapter in which the father merely “counsels” the son, now the father commands his son! Help fund the podcast: Patreon
The Old Testament does NOT discourage sexual relationships for one moment. In fact it just puts it into a proper context of a heterosexual marriage, made for the pleasure of its covenant participants, designed by an all-wise Creator. In chapter 5 the father gives advice to his son. The father recognizes that sex is a major temptation in the life of a young man. A legitimate sexual union between a male & female in the form of marriage, is the father's worldview. All other sexual behavior is a threat that misleads those seeking intimate physical relationships. Help fund the podcast: Patreon

The Book of Proverbs recognizes that evil exists in the world. Instead of painting a picture of a perfect world without any moral tension, Wisdom describes the harmful influences that can sway the learner, and instead teaches how these dangerous threats can be avoided.
The wisdom that directs life is the same wisdom that created the universe. To surrender to God's wisdom is to put oneself in harmony with creation and the world around us. Ordinary life and the life of Faith are not two separate spheres, but one unified experience of God's creation. All of life is regarded as a seamless fabric according to the implications of the author of Proverbs.

Paul proclaims himself as the "chief" of sinners. This is not just attention grabbing rhetoric. He was a Christian killer before his encounter with Christ. The wrath of Elihu. Is there a place for the high-level arousing emotion of anger? Or should we be equipped to put anger in its place? Biblical model does not encourage "righteous indignation" for God's people, rather it shows man's wrath to be unjust and in opposition to the image bearing of Christ.
As Job descends to the end of his discourse, he realizes it comes down to obtaining Wisdom! The Wisdom Job learns is contentment in both abounding & being abased. Then one can truly see Christ the Redeemer ascended.
Whether I exist or cease to exist…. regardless GOD EXISTS. "What does the Scriptures reveal about HIM?", should be our inquiry rather than "what does the scriptures have for me?"
With limited theology Job's friend attempt to make sense of what has happened to thier peer. Very much like we do today in the face of hard circumstances.
The character of Job is shown to be one who sets his mind on the "Eternal" and not on the temporal. As Paul the Apostle says, "while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal." So to Job was taught this great truth by God.
Job, Satan, & Job's Friends are all about to learn the timeless truth, God is all knowing & no created being should conduct themself as though they know the ways of the Creator. Watch Episode on YouTube Channel
