Chinese electric-vehicle stocks, led by BYD Co. Ltd., emerged as a bright spot in the nation's lackluster markets, as robust sales reports ease concerns about the global chip shortage and lure investors back into the sector. Both NIO and BYD are popular Chinese EV brands, which have been gaining traction in recent years and could potentially create additional shareholder value in the long run. However, the worsening of US-China relations along with a regulatory crackdown are making it risky to invest in Chinese assets for average investors.
