After living my life based on the expectations of others and in fear of what others may think of me for soooo long I took a big risk last year and started my podcast in an attempt to be true to myself. I battled with the thought of it for 3 months before publishing my first episode and even then I tried to do it anonymously for months and didn't end up sharing it on my Instagram until 8 months later. Your circle will either make you or break you. Many of us are walking around bearing the weight of relationships that are draining us just because it's our family, or "day ones," or even your significant other. But just because you created relationships with these people (or in your family's case.. you were born into it) doesn't mean that all of these relationships are meant to be kept.The best version of yourself is going to require you to be more intentional about the relationships you create and maintain. And sometimes the reason there's a gap between where you are and where you want to be is because some of the relationships you're clinging to are not meant to go with you. Don't sabotage yourself to save a relationship that's not serving you, even if it's with your family. One of the best things I've ever heard someone say is that your environment will always trump your willpower. If you want to get fit and live a healthy lifestyle but you keep hanging around people who eat fast food you will give in more times than not. If you want to invest your money but you keep hanging around people who carelessly spend yours you will do the same. If you want to change your life, change your environment.Instead of making goals and trying to achieve them on your own or constantly trying to go against the grain because everyone in your circle is doing the opposite of what you want to do - insert yourself in a new circle where your goal is the norm. Being strong all of the time or feeling like you have to be strong all the time can sometimes feel like you're in solitary confinement or just being isolated. You may have people around you who care but because you have all these walls up and you're scared of being vulnerable because you don't want to get hurt, you never really form genuine connections with people.
