The Bible has taught us well to allegorize stories by substituting God for the male figure in a story, and Jerusalem or Humanity for the female figure. However, Hebrew poetry lends itself to double entendres and multiple meanings. With the help of the 1957 Broadway musical The Music Man, we will examine the well-established structure of this poem with curiosity; asking, “Can this song be sung a different way?”Sermon begins at minute 6:36Song of Songs 5:2-9 and 8:5-10Resources: See the SMC website or Facebook page sermon posting for links to the songs below:Meredith Wilson, “Goodnight My Someone” from The Music Man 1957 sung by Barbara Cook Gillian Russo, March 12, 2020, The history of Broadway shutdowns, Broadway News https://broadwaynews.com/2020/03/12/the-history-of-broadway-shutdowns/Meredith Wilson, “Being In Love” from The Music Man 1962 film sung by Shirley Jones Meredith Wilson, “The Sadder-but-Wiser Girl for Me” from The Music Man 1957 sung by Robert Preston Meredith Wilson, “Rock Island” from The Music Man 1957 Meredith Wilson, “Pick-a-little, Talk-a-little” from The Music Man 1962 film Meredith Wilson, “My White Knight” from The Music Man 1957 sung by Barbara Cook https://open.spotify.com/track/6UuqE5oXVnxToLif1530eR?si=FvVchBJDSe-VUEm5Xl2-PwThe Gospel of Musical Theatre podcast, PRIDE BONUS: The Music Man! https://open.spotify.com/episode/0SuOaBfBwh1BmAauyZwgSy?si=TfsS_GpUS-eU-QvEHjiF5wMeredith Wilson, “76 Trombones” from The Music Man 2022 sung by Hugh Jackman Meredith Wilson, “Lida Rose/Will I Ever Tell You?” from The Music Man 1962 film sung by Shirley Jones & The Buffalo Bills Meredith Wilson, “My White Knight” from The Music Man 2022 sung by Sutton Foster https://open.spotify.com/track/3Bu9q5k2hArYMfgasl12FM?si=7xCvCxL2Som-ud_zKfYlPgMeredith Wilson, “Till There Was You” from The Music Man 1957 sung by Barbara Cook & Robert Preston https://open.spotify.com/track/1kU40UKP9BviW8m4HMgUQh?si=v8UvwKmuRU60iyO5wea58gBibleWorm podcast https://open.spotify.com/episode/2bqkenlYIp1f4nf0b16m6L?si=qrqiaIHoRouD01zLbzroQgThe Forgotten Books of the Bible: Recovering the Five Scrolls for Today, Robert Williamson, Jr., 2018Voices Together 48, Music: Ralph Vaughan Williams, Five Mystical Songs, No. 4; Text: George Herbert, The Temple, 1633. Falling out of love is a heartbreaking feeling. The expansiveness. warmth, and joy of being with your beloved is just gone. It may have happened suddenly or overtime, but there is no doubt that 'the loving feeling" is gone. This week Kevin and Niseema explore some of the reasons why what used be a "tuning in" to our partner, suddenly turns into a "tuning out." Expectations, lack of relationship skills, stress, personal history, our own body, etc., can turn that loving feeling into irritability and loneliness. If love is the antidote to loneliness, then what may be the antidote to the "loss" of love?--------------------For more information or support contact hosts Kevin O'Donoghue LMHC or Niseema Dyan Diemer SEP at: info@thepositivemindcenter.com, or call 212-757-4488. In this episode, we're uncovering what our love languages are; the way that WE show love versus the way we prefer to be SHOWN love by others. Love is a funny thing. What works for some doesn't always work for others. You might enjoy receiving gifts, but show your love and appreciation for your partner or friend by verbally telling them how much you care about them. Or maybe you prefer to receive quality time, but show your love through physical touch. Listen to learn about the 5 love languages, as well as what an apology language is, and don't forget to watch out for the Ostara egg!Click here to discover what your love and apology languages are: https://www.5lovelanguages.comEmail us: thewitchfulthinkingpodcast@gmail.comFollow us on IG: @thewitchfulthinkingpodcastClick here to check out our merch!Check out our sponsors, With Love Candle Co. We're throwing it back this week to revisit an old episode (#29!) from 2020, where we talked about our views on twin flames, soulmates, and life partners. What are these things, and do we believe in them? After a long and tumultuous year, our lives have changed and so have our views on what these terms mean to us. This was a really popular episode when it first aired and we wanted to bring a fresh, somewhat new perspective on our old words. We hope you enjoy! Don't forget to listen for the Ostara Egg!

Listen In: Self Love is becoming mindful and intentionally practicing for one's own well-being and happiness in a constructive way rather than narcissistic negative behaviors). Self-love defined as "love of self" or "regard for one's own happiness or advantage" has both been conceptualized as a basic human necessity to truly achieve happiness and balance in your life On the other hand, if we as human beings enter the realm of being a narcissist with a tendency for narcissistic behaviors then we move to the dangerous character and moral flaw within yourself which can be looked at as vanity in yourself or selfishness. It is a fine line between not enough and too much. So, check your behaviors at the door. Recognize what you need inside of yourself to become whole without demoralizing others with negative behaviors such as the French would say amour propre, announce - (amoure prop), conceitedness, and egotistic behaviors leading to narcissistic behaviors. So, from here let us dig into the positive side of Self Love Let us talk about the mindset of positive Deliberate Mindfulness of self-love Disclaimer: The Content is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Today is Jane's 24th wedding anniversary. She met her husband Tom in the winter of 1992. He was sitting on her couch reading Rolling Stone Magazine in the apartment she shared with their mutual best friend, Mark. Previous to meeting Tom, Jane took the advice from a good friend and wrote down all of the attributes and important aspects that she required in a life partner. Here they are 24 years later. The list was stunningly accurate and a great guideline to follow for their life. Jane has since told many friends about writing their desired goals down. Especially in regard for a healthy relationship. It has not been all sunshine, roses and rainbows for them. It rarely is in life. However, it's been an interesting and fun ride, so far. Join Jane for today's Voices of Vision as she asks her husband about love, staying happy and being true to himself in their relationship. Jane just popped this on him this morning. Which is another thing that was on her list. The ability to be spontaneous. It should be an interesting show today.

Throughout the hour I spoke first with Kenny Roby about the differences between approaching his songs as a solo artist as opposed to a member of a full band. Roby performed an intimate take on “Tired of Being In Love,” before the focus switched over to the folks in Magnolia Collective. We then spoke a bit about the inception of Magnolia Collective and how it's grown from their humble start with weekly jams at Carrboro's The Station. Magnolia Collective then performed a brand new track from their forthcoming full length, set for release sometime next year.Lastly, we moved onto the newest band of the bill with Texoma. Texoma's songwriter Zach Terry was one of the original members of Magnolia Collective and we spoke about the differences between working with such a large group as opposed to a “dust-rock” trio. Texoma recently released a self-produced self-titled EP, and having only been a band for 2 months we naturally discussed the difficulties and excitement that comes along with being in such a swiftly moving project. To close out the hour Texoma performed an unreleased track titled “Mary Anne.”
