Ellise Antoinette Smith is from Detroit, Michigan, with a research focus on the experiences of bodies that identify as fat. With an interdisciplinary focus, Smith uses photography (#VisualActivism), podcasting, spoken word poetry, and social media as a catalyst to center these narratives. As doctoral student in the Urban Education Studies program at IUPUI, Smith dedicates her scholarship to creating celebratory spaces for the marginalized identities that she holds using frameworks such as Black Feminist Thought, Sense of Belonging, Intersectionality, and Critical Race Theory. She aims to ensure the work and narratives around bigger bodies are included in academia while challenging the dominant ideologies around body image acceptance. Smith centers her work within the sector of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as she pulls from her experiences working with first-generation, low-income students, racial equity, and eradicating injustices for underrepresented populations. Welcome Kim Guess to the show! My pain motivates me. I lost my husband in 2019 to ALS, he was only 41 years old. My business was birthed because I needed something to focus on and something to help pay the bills that were now all my responsibility. I have a 9 year old son that keeps me motivated daily, and all the women that I serve inspire me. I help women of all ethnicities achieve their weight loss goals through dance fitness, by dealing with self esteem issues 1st. I also do a Hip Hop Dance Fitness Mentorship Program for teenage girls & abused women. I feel that I impact my community because of the transparency of who I am and what I've gone through. I was able to create a safe space for all women to be themselves without judgment, we laugh, cry, support and uplift one another. I do my best to help other women create and start their own business & to find their purpose. In all aspects of life we have to adapt, so through loss I survived, through pain & grief I survived, through depression & anxiety I survived , through heartache/weight gain/money problems I survived. Everything I've been through in my life is an example that there is BETTER on the other side of pain. Facebook: Kim Guess & Guess Who's Dancing Fitness The Xperience Kzoo Goddess BlendZ

Welcome back powerhouses. This episode is all about Desire and Decisions. You cannot do either without some quiet time. Take a listen and leave us a review!
Hey Powerhouse! This episode is all about YOU getting into the presence of God and setting the VISION for your life. There are two more episodes up to help you effectively set your sights on 2021. Step 1: Create a space for a moment of thought. Step 2: Release your worries. Step 3: Meditating: that’s you listening for God
Okay PowerHouse! It's always your season, so let's act and think like it is! Because you know it's always your season: Knowing that there is an appointed time for everything should help take the edge of rush off. Knowing there’s a season to everything, should help you mentally plan for things to go in a cycle. You are never not winning, as long as you don’t quit. Scripture References: Romans 8:28 Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Before you step into the role of leadership, be sure to have: 1. Self-Awareness (know your strengths and weaknesses) 2. Believe in success for yourself! Strengths Based Leadership
This episode is dedicated to Breonna Taylor.
This week episode talks about three reasons why most people don't like to speak up, and your two reasons why you are qualified to speak. You have PERSPECTIVE and PURPOSE! Share your story of how you spoke up this week using the hashtage #ispeakforthishouse and follow us on IG @she.speaksss
Why you are authorized to speak for your house: You have knowledge. Whatever you know is valuable. Put some respect on the things you’ve seen and experienced. That counts. And you decide how high people need to count to have access to you. Your future is established in the present. The things you decide to do now are always a step in connection to your goal or your purpose You don’t have time to wait for someone else to do it. We see people do it time and time again: waiting on someone else to make a move. Stop waiting for them and sense the move on your own. Believe it or not, there are people depending on you. You aren’t aware of how many people are watching and feeling your energy. That’s why you are required to speak for your house. Its your spiritual mandate. The great commission charges us to go to nation to nation and teach and baptize people in the name of Jesus Christ. You can’t teach without a message. And a message has words, and your voice gives it volume. IG @coachteasiaa IG @she.speaksss

I struggle with hearing people "trying" to do something while I support people who "do" things. Ever noticed how trying to do something doesn't send a strong message like doing something does? Here's what I've come to understand: Trying only makes sense after you have started doing the work Trying should signify process... in route to... moving towards Trying often communicates a passive attitude verses an active one....
