By 2030, most adults, especially women, might be single for life. A study by Pew Research Center found that nearly 1 in 4 single adults may stay single for life. While that doesn't mean everyone is destined to be alone, it does reflect big cultural changes in dating, relationships, and partnership compared to 30 years ago. Cities like Boston are even ranked among the loneliest in America.Dr. Gabe sits down with Kristal Kleer and Desiree for a candid, eye-opening conversation about the future of relationships—specifically, the growing trend of lifelong singleness among Millennials and Gen Z. Need relationship advice? The conversation explores statistics on earnings in marriages, the impact of education on black women, the role of blue-collar workers, family dynamics, and the challenges faced by African-American women in dating. The discussion also delves into the male ego, the concept of provision beyond financial contributions, and community perspectives on gender roles and earnings. Takeaways The landscape of marriage and earnings has shifted significantly over the years. Women are increasingly becoming the primary earners in households. Education plays a crucial role in the earning potential of black women. Blue-collar workers can also earn substantial incomes, challenging stereotypes. Family dynamics greatly influence a man's earning potential and behavior. African-American women face unique challenges in dating due to economic disparities. The male ego can be affected when women earn more, impacting relationships. Provision in a relationship encompasses more than just financial support. Time and emotional support are critical components of provision. Community perceptions can influence individual relationships and choices. Kameel Gaines talks about her career journey; her business Rig on Wheels; driver recruitment; & the importance of elevating African American women in trucking.  IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS:   [07.37] Kameel's career journey, and how she found her way from educational sales to trucking recruitment. “Trucking chose me!” [10.38] Why Kameel founded her own business, Rig on Wheels, and why she always had an entrepreneurial mindset. “I came from an entrepreneurial family, so I wasn't afraid of it. [13.42] A closer look at Rig on Wheels; what makes it different; and Kameel's reputation for innovation and taking a driver-centric approach to business. “We are very much an advocate of the professional driver. Innovation is very important because evolution is coming, it's here! We want to make sure that our drivers are ready.” “Recruitment is changing, and social media is the new CB radio! We need to meet drivers where they are.” [16.54] Rig on Wheels' upcoming 15-year anniversary, and Kameel's laidback approach to the celebrations. “I'm just excited that my team is excited!” [18.10] Why Kameel launched the first-of-its-kind Rig on Wheels podcast; her passion for ongoing learning; and why she's always looking to improve. “I started educating myself, and looking at other peoples shows. And, instead of looking at them as a spectator, I was looking to learn… How can we do this better? We're not looking for perfection, but we are looking for excellence.” [21.46] Kameel's perspective on the rise of supply chain media, and the innate inclusivity in helping professionals from all walks of life to engage, learn, and communicate in new ways. “There are a lot of voices, and there's a voice for everyone – that's what's great. Everybody identifies with someone.” [26.29] Kameel's previous role as co-chairwoman of the African American Women's Trucking Association, and the importance of elevating the representation and success of African American women in trucking. “Representation matters. You can't be what you don't see.” [29.31] The role of mentors in Kameel's career journey, and how she maintained those relationships over time. [34.33] Kameel's advice for the young women looking to follow in her footsteps. “Open up your eyes to new possibilities, get out of your comfort zone – the world is your back yard.” [36.47] The one (unexpected) career achievement that Kameel is most proud of. Mae Mallory, the Monroe Defense Committee, and World Revolutions: African American Women Radical Activists (U Georgia Press, 2024) explores the significant contributions of African American women radical activists from 1955 to 1995. It examines the 1961 case of African American working-class self-defense advocate Mae Mallory, who traveled from New York to Monroe, North Carolina, to provide support and weapons to the Negroes with Guns Movement. Accused of kidnapping a Ku Klux Klan couple, she spent thirteen months in a Cleveland jail, facing extradition. African American women radical activists Ethel Azalea Johnson of Negroes with Guns, Audrey Proctor Seniors of the banned New Orleans NAACP, the Trotskyist Workers World Party, Ruthie Stone, and Clarence Henry Seniors of Workers World founded the Monroe Defense Committee to support Mallory. Mae's daughter, Pat, aged sixteen also participated, and they all bonded as family. When the case ended, they joined the Tanzanian, Grenadian, and Nicaraguan World Revolutions. Using her unique vantage point as Audrey Proctor Seniors's daughter, Paula Marie Seniors blends personal accounts with theoretical frameworks of organic intellectual, community feminism, and several other theoretical frameworks in analyzing African American radical women's activism in this era. Essential biographical and character narratives are combined with an analysis of the social and political movements of the era and their historical significance. Seniors examines the link between Mallory, Johnson, and Proctor Seniors's radical activism and their connections to national and international leftist human rights movements and organizations. She asks the underlying question: Why did these women choose radical activism and align themselves with revolutionary governments, linking Black human rights to world revolutions? Seniors's historical and personal account of the era aims to recover Black women radical activists' place in history. Her innovative research and compelling storytelling broaden our knowledge of these activists and their political movements. So, she did, and it is titled, “Puzzled”. It was a honor (and a blast!) to have Danni McNeilly on the show! She became the 31st U.S. born African-American women to break 3:00 in the marathon at Chicago two weeks ago. It was a result ten years in the making and one that put her in the history books. She also became the fourth women in the Black Roses running club to make The List - an incredible achievement for a single club. Here is a what that day meant to Danni in her own words (via her Instagram): "I've been struggling to find the words to express the feelings I have about yesterday. In my second favorite city. In the year of our Jordan (phrase coined by Tim). On the 45th running of the Chicago Marathon (Jordan's other number). After 10 years of marathoning parallel to the 10 years I been repping Roses. I ran my first sub 3 marathon and made The List. It was my time. It wasn't supposed to happen any other way. To know me is to know that I train hard so performance is never really a surprise. However, I also run heavily on vibes and that will always dictate how my race goes. Times be damned. If I want it, I'll get after it. If not, well that's that. I've said before that sub 3 was never an earnest goal but this time I changed my tune. I stopped introducing hypotheticals. No trying, no attempts. I said I was going to break 3 in Chi. I didn't give life to failure. I spoke this win into existence. Words have power and mean things. It's been a hard cycle during which I pushed my body to unseen limits. At some points I felt unsure but in the last phase of training squad held me down and made it apparent that I was more than capable. Everyone said I was ready. Knox [Robinson] said it was my day, and it was. The job is done and now we rest." You can follow Danni on Instagram at www.instagram.com/vexyspice.
