In the most recent installment of the 7th Generation Podcast, I had the honor of hosting members from the San Diego Pacific Savagez Chapter (Na Koa Hema Southern Warriors Tribe). This gathering served as a canvas for a spectrum of narratives and viewpoints that further enriched our comprehension of the San Diego Savage MC movement's vibrant history and present. Additionally, we were fortunate to converse with Big Twon of the Above Average Motorcycle Club. A special thank you to King Attorney at Law for graciously hosting our engaging exchange. During our thought-provoking conversation, we delved into the annals of the San Diego Savage MC movement, unearthing its roots, evolution, and remarkable landmarks traversed throughout its journey. The tribe members illuminated the subtle aspects of their culture, the hurdles they've triumphed over, and the values they've remained steadfast to. Significantly, we explored their imminent participation in the eagerly awaited Pacific Sovereignty Run, slated for June 17th, 2023. The team members shared with us a peek into their preparation process and voiced their collective eagerness and resolve for the forthcoming event. It is much more than a mere MC Run; it epitomizes unity, tradition, and the indefatigable spirit of the Indigenous Islander communities. This episode unveils a unique, in-depth examination of the Indigenous Islander Biker Set — a subculture that is often misjudged yet utterly fascinating. Breaking away from the stereotypes, we reveal the essence of the community, acknowledging their distinctiveness, resilience, and unswerving passion for biking.
In this new episode of the 7th Generation Podcast, I was privileged to have a great conversation with representatives from the Section 8 Motorcycle Club. We traversed through the narrative of their humble origins, showcasing the power of unity and shared passion. A core part of our discussion revolved around the club's significant community initiatives. Section 8 MC is not just about shared interest in motorcycles, but their mission extends to serve and uplift the community, truly embodying the spirit of brotherhood and social responsibility. One of the highlights of our conversation was a deep dive into their collaborative venture with the nonprofit organization Team Only Stronger. Both entities have united their forces to combat a deeply disturbing yet often overlooked issue - the rampant sexual abuse of children in our society. They aim to break the silence and stigma surrounding this issue, to educate the public about its prevalence, and provide resources and support to victims and their families. Their mission is awe-inspiring. Through various fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and collaborations, they strive to be a beacon of hope, offering much-needed resources to survivors and working relentlessly to change societal norms and laws. They represent the epitome of strength derived from unity, showing us that even in the face of such harrowing adversity, community-led initiatives can indeed spark profound change. Life Rules: Stop Making Excuses Ep. 34. The Life Rules segment is a new aspect of the 7th Generation Podcast I will be integrating into the show from time to time. I want to share some of my life experiences and rules I live by. I have titled these segments "Life Rules." I will be releasing these as stand alone episodes and in some cases be integrating these rules into others episodes. I hope you enjoy this new part of the 7th Generation Podcast. The third life rule I discuss is Stop Making Excuses! When I was a young man I made a commitment to never make any excuses why I couldn't do something. "NO EXCUSES" was my mantra and it served me well all these years. Too many of us make excuse why we can't do the things we want to do with our lives. It's a bad habit, but it can be broken. Stop making excuses and start doing the things you want to do with your life. This is part two of my exploration of the sociological imagination, a concept developed by the late American scholar and sociologist C. Wright Mills. This time around I invited three of my colleagues, all of which are sociology professors, to the show to discuss their sociology journeys and to help us get a deeper understanding of the sociological imagination. Several topics are discussed on the show and each guest gives their unique take on the importance of developing a sociological perspective in these uncertain times. Enjoy the show!
In episode 20 of The 7th Generation Podcast, I bring you part 2 of my sit down with the Pacific Savagez MC. The Pacific Savagez is one of the largest motorcycle clubs on the west coast and appear to be growing and getting stronger by the year. This is a rare insider look into one of Americas most fascinating subcultures, the MC biker set. In part 2 the Pacific Savagez explain in detail the meaning of their patch, the most prized possession of any club member. We also discuss how the club has brought together various groups of Pacific Islanders to create a brotherhood that is unbreakable. This is not your typical MC. The Pacific Savagez are deeply rooted in their Indigenous outlook and stand up for what they believe in, which is their Pacific Islander culture and community.
