Charlie Angus is making headlines right now calling the US President a “gangster” etc. leading up to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta next week, and a lot of Canadians are echoing his call to prevent Trump from coming to Canada. Well, Charlie, you don't have to like Donald Trump, or like that he is there, but Canada simply can't afford to slam the door in his face, either. We have to play the geopolitical chess game. We can't just flip the chessboard when we don't like our opponent. Episode 160 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the upcoming G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, focusing on the key players attending, including controversial figures like Donald Trump. Bill emphasizes the importance of United States' participation in the summit for economic and geopolitical reasons, despite the negative sentiments surrounding Trump's presence. He argues that maintaining a relationship with the United States is crucial for Canada, especially in light of current international challenges. This episode was recorded on: June 13, 2025Become a YouTube channel or paid Substack member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! We'll explore Canada's economic crossroads — from the urgent need for diversification to the growing importance of foreign investment from nations like India and Saudi Arabia. But economic growth can't come at the cost of human rights. So how should Canada strike a balance? And with Mark Carney's global experience helping shape the agenda, what can we expect from this pivotal moment on the world stage? In Episode 159 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the upcoming G7 summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, emphasizing its significance in light of recent global economic challenges. Prime Minister Mark Carney said the era of United States dominance on the world stage is over, during a huge announcement he made today about our NATO commitments. Is there a legitimate argument for increasing Canada's spending on defense beyond 2% of the national GDP, as PM Carney has suggested? How will an additional $20 Billion investment in Canada's military be used? What about US President Donald Trump's “golden dome” idea? Let's talk about Canada's commitment to our NATO alliance and humbly offer Bill's opinion on this generation-making matter. In Episode 158 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill explores the complex balancing act between strengthening our military, safeguarding domestic integrity, and confronting global realities. As the trade war between Canada and the United States intensifies, Ontario finds itself caught in the crossfire — and Premier Doug Ford is not one to waste an opportunity for political gain. Let's take a deep dive into the implications of his newly passed Bill 5 and explore how the Ford government could be using the current political climate to push through sweeping changes under the guise of nation-building economic development. From special economic zones to weakened environmental regulations, Canadians must ask themselves: Who really benefits from these changes? What gets sacrificed in the name of growth? In Episode 157 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the ongoing trade dynamics between Canada and the United States, particularly focusing on the implications of tariffs and the actions of Ontario Premier Doug Ford. The conversation delves into the recently passed Bill 5, which aims to accelerate economic development in Ontario but raises concerns about environmental regulations and the potential for abuse of power by the government. The podcast emphasizes the need for a balanced approach to economic growth that considers both development and environmental protection.Become a paid SubStack subscriber or YouTube channel member to hear Bill's personal stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! Why is US President Donald Trump so obsessed with the idea of Canada becoming “the 51st state”? The American president is being manipulated by billionaires to exploit Canada's natural resources, of course. Frankly, I don't think Donald is smart enough to have an endgame in mind, but he is surrounded by rich industry bros with brains and private interests. As Donald Trump continues to table legislation undermining American democracy, with the notion of nearing midterm elections becoming more of a question mark than a given, Canada must remain strong, cautious and critical of our trade dealings with the United States. The G7 meeting in Alberta approaches, and Trump's tariffs, as well as talks of natural resource development and trade, are sure to be on the docket. In Episode 156 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, host Bill Kelly discusses the critical issues facing Canada in light of Donald Trump's second administration. He emphasizes the importance of Canada's natural resources, particularly critical minerals like rare earth elements (REEs) and clean water, which are of significant interest to Donald Trump. Bill warns about the potential threats to Canadian sovereignty and the need for cautious navigation of future relations with the U.S. as the political landscape evolves.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! How will the NDP make themselves relevant again? This episode might ruffle a few feathers, and I welcome your feedback… Personally, I want to see how the NDP can pivot, especially after 10 years of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau out-NDP'ing the NDP (in my opinion). This is a message and a warning for the NDP party, before they are left in the ideological dust by an ever-evolving Liberal Party and Conservative Party…In Episode 155 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the current state and future of the New Democratic Party (NDP) in Canada. He reflects on the party's historical relevance, its recent electoral struggles, and the need for a significant reevaluation of its identity and strategies to regain support. The conversation highlights the shifting political landscape in Canada, where traditional NDP constituencies have moved towards other parties, particularly the Liberals and Conservatives. After their seemingly idyllic meeting with Prime Minister Carney, do some of the Premiers need a reality check? Prime Minister Carney's “nation-building wish list” meeting with the Premiers this week went overwhelmingly well, with some premiers expressing optimism and offering enthusiastic praise of Carney for setting the right tone. However, based on their comments, I get the sense that some of this optimism may be steeped in naivety. Will there be a clash being provincial interests when Prime Minister Carney starts making the Premiers' “wish lists” into a shortlist? We'll also touch on the contentious topic of pipelines, which is sure to be a prominent talking point in forthcoming nation-building project discussions and negotiations. In Episode 154 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the recent meeting between Canadian premiers and Prime Minister Carney. The conversation delves into the outcomes of the meeting, the challenges of project prioritization, and the ongoing discussions surrounding pipelines and federal support. Bill emphasizes the importance of collaboration among provinces and the need for realistic expectations regarding project implementation.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! When the provinces work together, all of Canada wins. Can somebody explain that to Alberta Premier Danielle Smith? Today, Prime Minister Mark Carney meets with the Premiers to discuss uniting the provinces through increased inter-provincial free trade, particularly. Let's talk about why past efforts to eliminate trade obstacles have faltered, and why now — amid rising external pressures like Trump's tariffs — unity is more important than ever. It's time for the premiers to put the national interest ahead of provincial politics to build a stronger, more cooperative Canadian economy. In Episode 153, Bill weighs in on a crucial topic that's dividing the country — and not just politically. Echoing Jason Kenney's call for action, Bill dives into the stubborn issue of inter-provincial trade barriers, a long-standing challenge that continues to undermine Canada's economic potential. With Mark Carney setting a bold target to address these trade issues by Canada Day, the clock is ticking for provincial premiers to act. Are Trump's tariffs illegal? How did Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney do in his first Question Period? Can we rely on the US judicial system to sort out this mess? Did Trump beg Qatar for a plane? Recent contradictory US court decisions surrounding Trump's tariffs created a whiplash effect throughout Canada's political and economic systems, making the truth more abundantly clear than ever: Canada MUST disconnect and remove its economic reliance on the United States as much, and as quickly, as possible. We must separate our economies, our technologies and our dependence on their “allyship”. Let's talk about Trump's tariffs and other news headlines from this eventful week in Canadian politics. In Episode 152 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the implications of recent political events in Canada, particularly focusing on Prime Minister Mark Carney's government and its relationship with the United States. The conversation highlights the ongoing economic challenges posed by U.S. tariffs, the need for Canada to diversify its economic and defense partnerships, and the importance of establishing a more independent stance in international relations. King Charles' historic throne speech kicked off the 45th Parliament of Canada this week and offered a deeper glimpse into the vision that our leaders have for Canada's evolving national identity and role on the global stage. Some people felt a renewed sense of national pride by the King's words, some (most?) people did not care, and others like Pierre Poilievre found it inadequate (shocker). Let's reflect on the throne speech messaging in today's episode. Also, in other news: Does Prime Minister Mark Carney have a “volcanic temper”? (He is an Irish Catholic, you know…)In Episode 151 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the significance of King Charles' recent visit to Canada and his throne speech. The conversation explores the implications of the speech for Canada's national identity, its relationship with the United States, and the government's aggressive agenda under Prime Minister Mark Carney. Bill emphasizes the need for meaningful public discourse in light of misinformation and the importance of addressing the challenges facing Canada today.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! Why do the majority of veterans support and have loyalty for US President Donald Trump, when he has repeatedly shown them nothing but contempt? Trump has gone on the record saying that he thinks veterans are “suckers” and “losers”, and consistently votes to remove their rights and access to support. He disrespects their service, their sacrifice and was draft dodger himself. Is this the future and values of America that they fought for, and laid down their lives for? Let's talk about this perplexing phenomenon, because this past Memorial Day weekend, fallen veterans are rolling in their graves. In Episode 150 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill reflects on Memorial Day, emphasizing its significance as a day of remembrance for those who served in the military. He discusses the historical context of military conflicts in the United States and questions the current state of American values under President Trump, particularly regarding his treatment of veterans and the erosion of rights. The conversation highlights the disconnect between the sacrifices made by service members and the current political climate, urging listeners to consider the implications of leadership and societal values.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! Ontario Premier Doug Ford wants to pave paradise, and put up a tunnel highway. Ford's incursions on the Greenbelt and Holland Marsh, and his track record currying favours with land and real estate developers, are not new headlines. With Trump's tariffs threatening Ontario's valuable auto industry, Premier Ford has taken the political opportunity to push for more of his environmentally reckless pet projects. In Episode 149 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the political landscape in Ontario, focusing on Premier Doug Ford's leadership and policies. He highlights Ford's recent majority win as well as the impact of American policies on Ontario's economy. The conversation delves into environmental concerns regarding development in the Green Belt and the implications of infrastructure projects on the environment and communities. Is Joe Biden's decline during his second presidential campaign to blame for America electing Donald Trump in 2024? A book about the cognitive decline of Joe Biden and the “cover up” following his decision to run for a second presidential term titled “Original Sin” by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson was published last week. The narrative that presidential staffers tend to cover up the shortcomings of old men in elected office is not new, and a valid social commentary. My only question is, when are we going to start talking about the obvious cognitive decline of the Orange Guy in the White House? President Donald Trump can barely string a cogent sentence together, even since his first term. How many more former Trump staffers need to give interviews and write exposes about the rampant systemic failures permeating his administration before we start pointing the finger where its most important? In Episode 148 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the current political climate in the United States, focusing on the cognitive decline of Joe Biden and President Donald Trump and its implications for American politics. The conversation also touches on the leadership of Donald Trump, comparing the two figures and exploring the reasons behind voter choices in recent elections. The podcast emphasizes the need for a deeper understanding of the political landscape and the factors influencing public perception.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! I was a kid during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and I remember the air raid tests at school. Are we being naive when it comes to Canada's national defense, particularly in the North? Very important and controversial discussion today on the podcast, and it might make some people feel skittish, but it needs to be talked about. Let's unpack the controversial topic of North American defense, by way of NORAD and Trump's latest passion project, the “Golden Dome Missile Defense Program”. How feasible is this idea, and will it fizzle? Is it a good idea to further rely on our allegiance with the United States from a military perspective? Do we have a choice at this point? In Episode 147 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, the discussion revolves around North American defense, particularly focusing on the proposed Golden Dome missile defense program. The conversation highlights the historical context of missile defense, the implications of the proposal, and Canada's role in ensuring national security amidst evolving geopolitical threats. The host emphasizes the necessity for Canada to engage in military commitments and the challenges that lie ahead in negotiations with the United States.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! How much of the criticism against Prime Minister Mark Carney is legitimate, and how much is just partisan sniping? Well, politics is in the eye of the beholder, and something tells me that if Mark Carney had decided to run as a Conservative, people across the country would be building shrines to him right now. Most of the national media networks are hyper-critical of Carney, as are avowed anti-Trudeau radicals, alike. Yet, Carney's administration has been in power less than a month, and we have already started seeing him live up to some promises. With Trump's tariffs and their fallout looming overhead, there is an immediate need for every level of government and every Canadian to come together, cooperate and collaborate. In Episode 146 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the recent drop in inflation rates and the impact of energy prices on the cost of living. He critiques the media's partisan bias against political figures like Mark Carney and emphasizes the need for government intervention during economic crises. Bill advocates for flexible leadership that adapts to current economic realities and calls for cooperation among political leaders to effectively address the challenges facing Canadians.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! Is it “outrageous” to ban American products on Canadian shelves in response to Trump's annexation fixation? Well, the orange guy in the White House has another marionette's strings to pull in Pete Hoekstra, the new American Ambassador to Canada, who made these statements in a recent interview. The United States has “never done anything like that to Canada”, he says. (Pause for eye roll.) Let's talk about these and some other appalling comments the US Ambassador to Canada has said regarding the Trump tariffs. Is Pete Hoekstra gaslighting us? Let's remember how we got here in the first place, Pete… This isn't the first time that America has happily twisted history, and it won't be the last. (PS: I had to mute a lot of cussing in this one. Sorry.)In Episode 145 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, host Bill Kelly discusses the recent appointment of Pete Hoekstra as the American ambassador to Canada. Bill expresses concern over Hoekstra's alignment with Trump administration policies, particularly regarding trade and tariffs. He highlights the impact of these policies on Canadian industries and the government's response, including looking for alternative trade partners. The conversation also touches on historical misrepresentations of Canada's contributions in global events and emphasizes the need for Canada to assert its sovereignty in international relations.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! Was there REALLY controversy amongst Carney's cabinet over pipelines this week? On that note, have you ever wondered what world some reporters are living on when you hear them recount their version of a live event, as if you watched something totally different? Some 24/7 news networks seem to be finding things to say just to create buzzworthy content.Case in point: CTV and other media organizations have overplayed the lone voice in Carney's cabinet, Steven Guilbeault, who questioned the necessity of building more pipelines despite no longer having an environmental economics portfolio. That's not Prime Minister Carney's policy or platform, so will our new Minister of Canadian Identity learn to tow the line and follow marching orders? Let's talk about the politics, within the politics. In Episode 144 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the frustrations surrounding media manipulation and the cynicism that has developed among viewers. He analyzes the media coverage of recent political events, particularly focusing on the swearing-in of Mark Carney's cabinet and the mixed signals regarding pipeline policies. Bill emphasizes the importance of party lines and the consequences for cabinet ministers who speak out against government policy. Where does the money from tariffs come from? How do Canada-US tariffs affect everyday consumers like you and me? Did Prime Minister Mark Carney promise to give the revenue from retaliatory tariffs towards funding the CBC? MAGA people will believe anything Donald Trump says, so let's break down the reality of this trade war and tariffs situation. In Episode 143 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, host Bill Kelly delves into the complexities of tariffs and their impact on consumers and businesses. He discusses the confusion surrounding government policies, the misconception that tariffs are a financial boon for governments, and the reality that consumers ultimately bear the cost. Bill emphasizes the need for consumer pressure on governments to reconsider tariff policies, especially in light of the economic challenges faced by average Americans under the current administration. The conversation highlights the intricate relationship between trade agreements, government decisions, and the everyday lives of consumers.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! Prime Minister Carney's pick for a new housing minister, Gregor Robertson, has been a heavy target of criticism by unemployed Ottawa man, Pierre Poilievre, this week. So, how does the new housing minister's track record hold up? And does Pierre Poilievre forget that he was in charge of federal housing programs as part of Harper's cabinet during Robertson's tenure as mayor of the City of Vancouver, when the housing market skyrocketed nationally? New housing minister Gregor Robertson recently generated some eye-grabbing headlines by replying “no” to a reporter, when asked if he thinks he needs to lower housing costs. Let's unpack the media frenzy, shall we?In Episode 142 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the current political landscape in Canada, focusing on Pierre Poilievre's criticisms of the government and the ongoing housing crisis. The conversation highlights the complexities of the housing market, emphasizing the importance of supply and demand dynamics, and critiques the government's past failures in addressing housing issues. Ontario used to brag about our world class health care system… Now, a damning new report found that Ontario has the lowest hospital spending per capita in the country, citing a parasitic cycle of lack of funding and over reliance on private hospital staffing agencies. Between 2013 and 2023, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives found that Ontario's hospital staff hiring increased by 6% , whereas hiring from private staffing agencies rose 98%. This report (linked below) is a warning bell that should be resounding across Ontario right now, with the needs of our aging population out-surging the capacity of our over-worked healthcare system. We don't like to talk about taxes, but we also need to ask ourselves what we are willing to pay for quality of care. Plus, increased hospital spending on private staff in turn makes care costs higher for patients and taxpayers. In Episode 141 of the Bill Kelly podcast, the host discusses the critical state of healthcare in Ontario, focusing on the financial implications of staffing shortages and the reliance on private agencies. The conversation highlights the need for increased investment in healthcare to ensure quality care for patients, while also addressing the challenges faced by nurses and the healthcare system as a whole. The episode concludes with a call to action for taxpayers to engage in discussions about healthcare funding and quality.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! What will be the fate of Chrystia Freeland? The Liberals have a new coach, and Prime Minister Carney is choosing his team this week as he announces his new Cabinet picks. Will there be many new faces, or will PM Mark Carney stick to the star players we already know? We hear there might be a tiered structure to his Cabinet, so let's break down what that would look like. What will be Carney's key portfolios, and will he add portfolios like women's and Indigenous issues? Carney's Cabinet picks will have to navigate a precarious political landscape. Regardless of the decisions made, pundits and certain PO-ed Canadian voters are sure to feel big emotions about it. And they'll keep making sure we all know how they feel, too. In Episode 140 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the upcoming announcement of Prime Minister Mark Carney's new Cabinet, emphasizing the importance of evaluating its effectiveness rather than its size. The conversation explores the dynamics of cabinet size, political perceptions, and the need for regional representation. Kelly advocates for moving beyond partisanship to foster a collaborative approach in governance, highlighting the potential for a new direction under Carney's leadership.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! What are Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's motivations for stoking the flames of Western separation? Could it be to distract from her own administration's controversies? Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is feeding off the anger many Western Canadians have towards Ottawa for political expediency, stoking the flames of Canadian separation rather than trying to “turn the temperature down”, as she claimed in a recent press conference. Is this anger towards Ottawa justified, and is it a good reason to separate from the rest of Canada? What would it look like for Alberta if they did separate from Confederation? And, First Nations leaders across Treaties 6, 7 and 8 have a lot to say to Danielle Smith on the matter… Let's talk about it. In Episode 139 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, host Bill Kelly discusses the current political climate in Canada, focusing on Alberta's Premier Danielle Smith and her controversial proposal for a referendum on separation from Canada. The conversation explores the historical tensions between Alberta and the federal government, the implications of Smith's actions, and the broader consequences of potential separation for Alberta and Canada as a whole. For someone who thinks he's “the king of the deal”, Trump sure sucks at negotiating. Did you know that Canada provides more crude oil to the US than Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Iraq combined? And that's just the tip of the (Canadian) iceberg. So, is Canada “ripping off” America, as Trump claims? Is the USA “subsidizing” Canadian lifestyles, or is it the other way around…? Canada has done a lousy job of beating our own drum when it comes to the beneficial impact we have on the US economy, and Prime Minister Mark Carney is on a mission to change that. Because the fact is, the US economy needs Canada. Let's talk about it!In Episode 137 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, host Bill Kelly discusses the critical trade issues between Canada and the United States, particularly in light of recent statements and policies from President Trump. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the economic interdependence between the two countries and the misinformation surrounding trade relations. Kelly critiques Trump's approach to tariffs and trade negotiations, highlighting the negative impacts on both economies and the challenges faced by Canadian officials in communicating these realities. “I don't think military force will be necessary,” said US President Donald Trump when questioned about his position on turning Canada into “the 51st State”. In the same interview, he openly stated he “hasn't ruled out” using military force to annex Greenland. I am tired of hearing, “That's Trump being Trump”. It's time for world leaders to stand up and say, Trump can't be Trump anymore. Why? Because, it's illegal. He is attacking the very sovereignty of NATO countries, and everyone is letting him get away with it. In Episode 136 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, host Bill Kelly discusses the concept of sovereignty in the context of current political events, particularly focusing on Donald Trump's controversial statements and policies regarding Canada as the ‘51st State' and international relations. The conversation explores the implications of Trump's actions, the role of enablers in his administration, and the need for accountability from both American politicians and international leaders. Is this really the best form of democracy we've got? Should we seriously consider changing the foundations of the Canadian and American systems of governance? Well, in order for us to figure that out, first we need to understand how we got here. Let's walk through a brief history of democracy across North America, compare different types of democratic voting systems (ie: first past the post, electoral college, proportional representation and ranked ballots) and take a wild guess why our elected officials don't seem to want to prioritize the hot button issue of electoral reform. In Episode 135 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, host Bill Kelly discusses the complexities of electoral systems, particularly in Canada. He explores the historical context of democracy, the challenges of the current electoral system, and the ongoing debate surrounding electoral reform options such as ranked balloting and proportional representation. The conversation emphasizes the importance of understanding the system we have and the need for informed citizen participation in the electoral process.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! What is the future of the NDP Party and Conservative Party? Is Pierre Poilievre the reason the Conservatives lost the 2025 Canada Election? No Conservative is admitting Pierre's failure openly, and it may not be until 2026 that their leader is even able to re-enter the political arena. So, what could Conservatives do now? Also, the NDP Party must find a new leader after Jagmeet Singh's resignation. Lots of upheaval in Canada's post-2025 Election landscape, so let's talk about it. In Episode 133 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the aftermath of Canada's recent election, which resulted in a Liberal minority government led by Mark Carney. He analyzes the reactions from various political parties, particularly the Conservative Party and the NDP, highlighting the challenges they face moving forward. In the final stretch of the Canada Election 2025, the Conservative Party seems to have taken a drastic turn in their campaign strategy, namely by excluding any mention of their leader from recent advertising altogether. If Pierre Poilievre manages to blow his former 21-point lead and lose the race, and should the Party, hypothetically, then want to vote in a new leader because of it… who would be the frontrunners? Let's talk about it, as well as the evolution of Canada's housing crisis, recorded on the eve of Canada's 2025 general election. In Episode 131 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, host Bill Kelly discusses the current Canadian election landscape, focusing on the housing crisis, political advertising strategies, and the challenges faced by the Conservative Party. He emphasizes the need for cooperation among federal, provincial, and municipal governments to address housing affordability and reflects on the shifting dynamics of political campaigns. The conversation also touches on leadership challenges within the Conservative Party and the potential for change in Canadian politics as the election approaches.Become a YouTube channel member to hear Bill's stories and life lessons from 50+ years as a broadcast journalist in his members-only series, MORAL OF THE STORY: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! Pierre Poilievre's doomsday prophecies about Canada's future should the pollsters be correct and he loses the Canada Election 2025 race to be Prime Minister are… interesting. Should we take them seriously, and for that matter, should we take some Conservative's threats of Western separation seriously? Bill reflects on these questions and reads parts of a Beaverton article that satirizes some major themes that have arisen during Poilievre's campaign. In Episode 130 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, the host discusses the significance of voting in the Canadian election, the dynamics of political campaigns, and the influence of media and satire in shaping public perception. The conversation highlights the importance of critical thinking in evaluating political rhetoric and encourages active participation in democracy.Become a channel member to unlock early access to new content as well as exclusive members-only videos such as Bill's new segment, Moral of the Story, where he recounts his life lessons and personal stories about life as a broadcast journalist spanning industries like sports, music, entertainment and politics.Become a channel member: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUbzckOLocFzNeY1D72iCA/joinDon't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! Did Justin Trudeau write PM Mark Carney's new budget and policy plan? (If you want to talk cr@p about Justin Trudeau, lying isn't necessary…) Did Mark Carney repeal his removal of the carbon tax, the second he took office? (Hint: no). We've never had more information at our fingertips, and multiple foreign governments are weaponizing that reality in order to sway public opinion and interfere with the results of the 2025 Canadian Election (just like during the Conservative leadership race). So, how do we tell propaganda from verifiable information? First, we need to check ourselves and our own confirmation bias. In Episode 127 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, host Bill Kelly discusses the critical role of information and disinformation in shaping public opinion during Canada's Election 2025. He highlights the challenges of distinguishing between accurate information and misinformation, particularly in the context of foreign interference. The conversation delves into the importance of empathy in political discourse and the need for critical thinking among citizens to navigate the complexities of modern democracy.
