This is a summary of a special episode of the Gospel Addict Podcast, hosted by Greg Bryan and Jim Reske, featuring Kent Chevalier, the chaplain for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Greg Bryan, a self-proclaimed diehard Steelers fan who was born in Pittsburgh, expressed his excitement about learning more about Chevalier's ministryKent Chevalier, the chaplain for the Pittsburgh Steelers, described his path to NFL ministry, which began after 22 years as a local church pastor when tight end Vance McDonald started attending his church, leading to an invitation to serve the team alongside his wife, Erica, through Athletes in Action (AIA). Chevalier's ministry role involves offering separate Bible studies for players, coaches, and their families, maintaining the "ministry of availability" on the sidelines, and providing a half-hour, gospel-centered chapel service the night before games to "bring church to them". He addresses the intense pressures of fame and wealth by challenging rookies to recognize that the NFL stands for "not for long" (the average career is barely three years) and that their identity must be built on Christ, not the "ball," clicks, or money, reinforcing that they are "human beings," not "human doings". Chevalier initiated the "Deflect the Glory" movement, urging players to bend the knee and deflect praise and worship back to God, with associated apparel sales raising funds for overlooked Pittsburgh ministries. Finally, he is writing a book, Do It Afraid: Jumping into Your God-given Purpose, which includes the LEAP framework (Let God lead, Express your fears, Ask for wisdom, Pray through it) for navigating significant, faith-based decisions.Chevalier's website is: www.teamchevalier.com/

The Cutting Edge Japan Business Show By Dale Carnegie Training Tokyo, Japan
Why don't clients in Japan return sales calls? Because the gatekeepers are trained to block access. In Japan, the lowest ranked staff often answer the phones, but without proper training. Their mission is to protect managers from outside callers—especially salespeople. Instead of being helpful, they come across as cold, suspicious, even hostile. This is your client's first impression of your business. If you test it by calling your own company, you'll likely hear the same problem. Mini-summary: Gatekeepers in Japan are defensive, not welcoming. This blocks callbacks from the very beginning. How do cultural habits make it worse? Risk aversion dominates Japanese business. Staff avoid giving their names when answering phones to eliminate accountability. For a salesperson, that means you're dealing with an anonymous voice, reluctant to help. Courtesy in the West often means offering to take a message. In Japan, you usually just hear “they're not at their desk.” The expectation is you'll go away quietly. Mini-summary: In Japan, anonymity and risk aversion fuel resistance to helping salespeople. Why don't messages ever get returned? Clients are swamped. The Age of Distraction means their days are full of meetings, emails, and digital overload. Even if a message does get written down, it often ends up buried under papers or lost in an overcrowded inbox. By the time they notice, it's too late—or it looks like clutter. Sales feels personal, but the silence is rarely about you. Mini-summary: Messages don't get returned because clients are distracted, not because they dislike you. What should salespeople do instead of waiting? Persistence. Leave messages every time. Follow up with email. Send physical mail. Try visiting, if you can get through building security. The salesperson's job is to keep making contact, not to give up. When you finally reach them, never complain about how hard they were to contact. Courtesy has changed, and callbacks are no longer part of the business culture. Mini-summary: Keep contacting, without complaint. Courtesy norms have changed—adapt or fail. What if clients complain about too many calls? Stay calm. Never get defensive. Apologise lightly: “You're right, I have been calling a lot, haven't I?” Then pivot: “The reason is what we have is so valuable, I would be failing my duty not to share it.” This shows professionalism and positions you as a value creator, not a nuisance. Mini-summary: Deflect complaints with humour and reframe persistence as professionalism. How can persistence win respect? Remind clients that they expect their own salespeople to show persistence. They know follow-up builds results. Deep down, they respect salespeople who push through obstacles, even if they never admit it aloud. In Japan, patience and professionalism eventually break through. The wall will crack if you stay consistent. Mini-summary: Persistence earns respect, even when unspoken. ✅ Final Takeaway: Silence from clients is not rejection. It is an invitation to stay persistent, professional, and patient until the door opens.

Victor Davis Hanson explains why this was not simply a tragedy, but an act of evil, and why the media and political leaders refuse to have an honest discussion about the factors behind it on today's episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” “They won't have any discussion over transgenderism. This falls in the broader category of exempt DEI woke topics, but I think we should talk about this. This is the fourth or fifth incident—I don't even like the word "incident"—occurrence of transgendered shooters who are protected by authorities. “We were told, "Be careful about Big Pharma. Be careful about Big Med." All of those worries and prohibitions and cautions were thrown out the window, as were SSRI antidepressants. These were selective serotonin prohibitors. In other words, they altered the chemistry of the brain, supposedly, to correct mental disturbances, depression, bipolarity. But they're very dangerous drugs. But when it came to the exempt topic of transgenderism, suddenly the society was supposed to accept that this was not a mental disorder. It was not a rare occurrence. It was a national crisis where large percentages of the population were transgendering.”

The Ruckus Report Quick take: Two beards, two red hats, one mission to blow up education's broken boundaries. Mitch Weathers reveals why saying "no" to district busywork and "yes" to what actually moves the needle isn't rebellion — it's leadership. Meet Your Fellow Ruckus Maker Mitch became a gifted teacher because he was a mediocre student. Mitch rarely felt comfortable in the classroom. In fact, it took him 7 years to graduate from college. Choosing to become a teacher, Mitch was fortunate enough to experience school as if it was happening all around him. He was unsure how to jump into his learning with confidence. There is a loneliness to experiencing your education as a passive object as opposed to an active subject. From the moment he entered the classroom, Mitch relied on his personal experiences as a learner. He recognized that what we teach—the content or curriculum—is secondary. We must first lay the foundation for learning before we can get to teaching. Mitch designed Organized Binder to empower teachers with a simple but research-backed strategy to teach students executive functioning skills while protecting the time needed for content instruction. The secret is found in establishing a predictable learning routine that serves to foster safer learning spaces. When students get practice with executive functions by virtue, we set them up for success. Learn more in his recent book Executive Functions for Every Classroom. Breaking Down the Old Rules
Build Your UX Shield: Policies That Deflect Drama and Defend StandardsLet's be honest. Policies and procedures aren't exactly the stuff of design conferences or portfolio showpieces. But when it comes to influencing your organization at scale, they're one of the most powerful tools you've got.In fact, if you do nothing else from this course, implementing even a handful of UX policies will make your life easier, your decisions more defensible, and your stakeholders more cooperative.Let me show you why.Why Policies Matter More Than You ThinkPolicies give you a way to shape behavior without having to show up in every meeting or fight every battle. They're like pre-agreed rules of engagement that help avoid awkward conversations or power struggles.Without them, every decision becomes a negotiation. With them, you shift from arguing your opinion to simply pointing to shared expectations. Here's why they're so effective:They're one step removed – Policies let you avoid head-to-head conflict. You're not saying no, the policy is.They aren't personal – They remove emotion from decisions. It's not about you, it's about following a standard. They demonstrate professionalism – Having documented policies signals maturity and reliability. You're not just winging it.Two Types of Policies, Two Types of PowerNot all policies are created equal. Some you can implement today. Others require broader buy-in.Here's how to tell them apart:Working PoliciesThese are about how you work: your own internal guidelines and expectations. You don't need permission from the wider organization to adopt them, just support from your line manager. They might include:How stakeholders should request work from youWhat project stages you follow (e.g., discovery, prototyping, testing)What kind of research or testing you always includeHow feedback is gathered, resolved, or escalatedWhat stakeholder involvement looks like (e.g., mandatory participation in user research)These help you define boundaries and manage expectations, especially when requests come flying in from all directions.Organizational PoliciesThese affect others more directly, and you'll need buy-in from leadership or cross-functional teams to adopt them. They could cover:Minimum UX testing before product releasesContent rules or accessibility standardsWho gets to make design decisions (and on what basis)Prioritization frameworks for UX improvementsResearch or compliance requirementsYes, these take longer to get approved, but they provide long-term benefits. They embed UX best practices that last beyond your team. How to Write a Good PolicyPolicies don't need to be long. In fact, the best ones are short, sharp, and based on logic everyone can follow.A simple if–then format works beautifully:“If a stakeholder hasn't observed user research in the past 6 weeks, then they cannot act as a primary decision-maker on the project.”That's an actual policy used by the UK's Government Digital Service. It's clear, fair, and easy to enforce.Once you've drafted something in plain language, you can always use ChatGPT or similar tools to polish it into more formal language if needed.Don't let perfection get in the way of progress. A rough Google Doc of 3–5 working policies is a great start.Outie's AsideIf you run a freelance practice or agency, you might think policies sound a bit bureaucratic. But they can be a lifesaver, especially when dealing with clients who want everything yesterday and expect UX magic on demand.Try developing your own internal working policies, like what you require from clients before starting work (e.g., user interviews, existing data), or your process for revisions and testing. These help you stay focused and reduce friction. You can also use policies to educate clients subtly. Add a policy to your proposals or onboarding docs that says something like:“All new features must undergo at least one usability test before release.”It's not a demand. It's how you work. And it positions you as the expert, not just a designer-for-hire.Your Action StepPick one area of friction in your work (maybe it's rushed feedback or lack of research involvement) and write a working policy for it. Keep it simple. If–then is your friend. In the next email, we'll look at probably the most powerful policy of them all: how to prioritize your work. It's one of the most powerful ways to stop reactive work and start being more strategic with your UX efforts.Talk soon,Paul

In a bold and controversial moment, Donald Trump publicly confronted the president of South Africa regarding alleged land seizures and violence against white farmers — a topic largely ignored by mainstream media. The segment accuses U.S. news outlets of covering up reports of what some call "white genocide," while Trump highlights archived articles from The New York Times and Washington Post. The speaker argues this is part of a broader political strategy to control voting demographics, claiming Democrats resist immigration from center-right populations. The piece also warns of legal action against Trump officials and frames the confrontation as a Reagan-era style stand against evil.

Joining us today on the podcast from a conversation Zach was able to have with our guest at the most recent Ignite Men’s Impact Weekend is Former Duke and Notre Dame star Quarterback, Riley Leonard. In and throughout this conversation, Riley shares authentically about his upbringing, collegiate career, and journey of faith. Yes, he’s accumulated countless accolades throughout his career, but what Riley appreciates and values more than anything else are the opportunities the Lord has blessed him with to express his faith, particularly during interviews and after games, thanking the Lord win, lose, or draw and always deflecting the honor, glory, and praise to the Only One worthy of those things. This is a clarion call and challenge to each and every one of us to continually grow in our humility as we seek to serve those around us no matter the vocation we have been called to. Our hope and prayer is that you would join us in praying for Riley and all that God will continue to do in and through his life and leadership. Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform committee grilled Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and New York City Mayor Eric Adams in a hearing Wednesday. The mayors defended restrictions they approved that prevented local authorities from cooperating with detainer and deportation requests from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials for illegal immigrants that committed crimes. You're having a wonderful time speaking with a prospect and believe they're going to take the deal. But when you go in to offer it, they quickly shut you down with the most disappointing sales objection: "not interested." Instead of tackling the objection with different common sales methods, try this unique strategy that I share in this episode. What is the Go Around The Block Principle? Inspired by one of my trips, I created this concept to help tackle a sales objection that most reps seem to struggle with the most. The idea is for you to prepare before the meeting by doing research on the prospect. You can use what you learn about the prospect to help connect with them better before pitching the deal again. Deflect the Sales Objection I share a short story on how I used a prospect's area code to help build a better connection with them before closing a deal. Of course, you won't always get this lucky, but try going on their LinkedIn profile to see if you can find a specific person, job role, or content they share to bring up during the meeting. Get the prospect to talk about something they're interested in; they will be more likely to hear your offer again. "Your job right now is to have conversations. The more conversations you have, the more opportunity you have to get the person to listen." - Donald Kelly Resources Looking for a new Sales Coaching Software, try out Ambition Do you need help creating a podcast? Projection is a defense mechanism where someone displaces their own unresolved feelings or thoughts onto another person or group. It's a way for people to cope with emotional discomfort and conflict without acknowledging their own emotions. We've all projected our stuff unconsciously onto others at times... and we've also been the recipients of others' projections. In the world we're living in today, there's SO much projection going on. As lightworkers and spiritually awake people, we need a strategy to (1) protect ourselves from others' projections and (2) be conscious and mindful enough so WE don't project our stuff onto others, either. Join me for this episode where I discuss: why projection is such a common human reaction (and coping mechanism) what it really means to project -- and to be projected onto how to shift your mindset and internal attitude so that others' projections don't affect you as much how to set inner and outer boundaries so you can protect your space, energy, and sanity... without allowing others to project onto you developing a more confident, fierce, self-respecting, and assertive persona so you can stand your ground when needed how to become a MASTER DEFLECTOR - someone who can see through others' projections and not automatically react or take them personally Join my email community and get access to my free Akashic Records Mini Course + weekly newsletter: https://josephinehardman.com/akashic-records-intro/ Explore becoming a certified Akashic Records Practitioner: https://josephinehardman.com/work-with-me/akashic-records-certification-program/ Visit my website: https://josephinehardman.com Send questions or comments to me@josephinehardman.com Thank you for being here, doing your inner work, and leading the way for others with your light. I, John, am the one who heard and saw all these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me. But he said, “No, don't worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers the prophets, as well as all who obey what is written in this book. Worship only God!” (Revelation 22:8–9 NLT) Virtual reality and artificial intelligence are starting to make people question what's real. Facebook changed its name to Meta to emphasize the metaverse, the virtual world. AR-enabled smart glasses allow us to see other worlds that don't actually exist. I've tried them a few times. And I've determined that there's no way you can look cool, or even normal, when you're wearing them to fight imaginary battles or whatever. The point is that there are many different universes we can explore that aren't real. On the other hand, the supernatural world, the spiritual realm where angels dwell, is very real. It's as real as our natural world. We just can't see it. If we could peel away the veil that separates our world from the supernatural world, I believe that what we would see there would blow our minds. If an angel of the Lord were to appear to us right now, we'd be blown away. Or, as the Australians say, we'd be gobsmacked. In fact, we might be so overwhelmed by the angel's appearance—and by the fact that it's so unlike anything we've ever encountered before—that we might even be tempted to worship it. That's the situation the apostle John found himself in in the last chapter of the Bible. In John's defense, he was seeing things that no one else had ever seen before. The glory of Heaven. The horror of the Tribulation. The spectacle of God judging the world from His throne. John's senses must have been close to overload. So, as he stared at the angel who was revealing these unimaginable things to him, John fell down to worship at his feet. You can almost sense the angel's alarm at being worshipped. He said to John, in effect, “Stop that! We're on the same pay grade. I'm a servant, just like you.” There are several occasions in the Bible where people who encountered angels were not just overwhelmed but terrified. When an angel appeared to a woman to tell her she would give birth to Samson, she told her husband, “A man of God appeared to me! He looked like one of God's angels, terrifying to see” (Judges 13:6 nlt). The prophet Daniel “became so terrified” that he fell facedown and then fainted when the angel Gabriel approached him and spoke to him (Daniel 8:17–18 nlt). When an angel of the Lord announced the birth of Jesus to shepherds out in the fields, “they were terrified” (Luke 2:9 NLT). No matter how awesome, powerful, or intimidating angels may seem, they are servants of God, just as we are. They don't act on their own accord. They do only what God commands them to do. They don't seek glory or praise. And when they receive it, they deflect it immediately to God. When the devil attempted to get Jesus to worship him, Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him'” (Luke 4:8). And all the angels of Heaven say, “Amen.” — Listen to the Greg Laurie Podcast Become a Harvest PartnerSupport the show: https://harvest.org/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As Kamala Harris and Donald Trump close out their campaigns, Jen Psaki outlines their starkly different closing messages and why voters shouldn't be freaking out over the extremely tight race. Harris Campaign Chair Jen O'Malley Dillon joins the show to discuss the state of the race, including the encouraging early voting numbers that have the Harris team feeling confident and why the campaign believes that John Kelly's 'fascist' label is an effective message with voters. Next, The Daily Show's Jordan Klepper joins Jen to reflect on his recent conversations with fervent Trump supporters for his new special - explaining how many MAGA voters have made Trump a part of their identity. Later, Jen shares footage from her travels to Michigan where she recently joined Emily's List staffers to door knock and talk with swing-state voters. Finally, Jen is joined by Former Obama Campaign Manager Jim Messina to ask him three big questions about the state of the presidential race - nine days out from election day. Nehemiah's excellent leadership character traits showed how big and great God is. Nehemiah's unified team was able to do the impossible and rebuild the wall in supernatural record-breaking days. Completing God's vision of building the kingdom of heaven requires a unified team that appreciates everyone's unique skill sets and humble hearts that deflect all credit to God's greatness. Only God can genuinely pull off something that is true, great, and that will last. For more information, visit lakepointe.church/dailydrive

Why is it so hard to give ourselves compliments? Or better yet to be able to BRAG about our achievements. We love humility, but if you've ever felt like being humble got in the way of being able to celebrate the things you do well, this episode is for you. In it, Alyssa talks about her prior (and still healing) fear of hearing positive feedback and how to consciously start praising ourselves so that we can learn to accept when it comes from others. Finding the time, the place, and the ability to lift ourselves up is part of what they call "doing the work." In this Monday's episode, we do it together.

Are you sacrificing your insecurities to the Lord, or are you only bringing sins of insecurity to him? Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller. This week, we are in 1 Samuel 15. I've titled this chapter "The Consequences of Disobedience." Today, I am going to read a moment where Samuel is going to call King Saul out. Let's dive into 17-23: And Samuel said, “Though you are little in your own eyes, are you not the head of the tribes of Israel? The Lord anointed you king over Israel. And the Lord sent you on a mission and said, ‘Go, devote to destruction the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.' Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord? Why did you pounce on the spoil and do what was evil in the sight of the Lord?” And Saul said to Samuel, “I have obeyed the voice of the Lord. I have gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me. I have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and I have devoted the Amalekites to destruction. But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the best of the things devoted to destruction, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.” — 1 Samuel 15:17-21 Saul perceives his voice and leadership as small, but his role is not small. Saul was God's anointed and appointed, and his voice and leadership mattered. God wanted to use them to lead the kingdom. Based on what we have learned about Saul, there are two internal forces within him—deep insecurity combined with opportunistic self-interest. Both come into play right here, and they are exposed when he is confronted by Samuel's "Why?" question. We all struggle with this because we all have insecurities. We have insecurities in our relationships, leadership, marriage, and career. Yet these insecurities, when unrealized and left unaddressed, can awaken devious forms of opportunistic self-interest. They result in us taking advantage because we feel we need the advantage to satisfy our insecurities. But what we think no one sees discerning people in our lives do see. In this situation, Samuel understands what Saul has done. Cattle are lowing and bleating that should have been slaughtered, but he has saved them for "sacrifice to the Lord." Then, when Saul is confronted with the "Why?" question, he does the same four things all insecure, guilty people do. Rationalize. Deflect. Blame. Explain. Instead of admitting and owning up to their deep insecurities and devious selfishness, they rationalize, deflect, blame, and explain. Here's some advice. It's something I have had to learn the hard way: Confess your insecurities before you have to confess your sin. Everyone has some deep insecurity. Most of the time, we don't take the time to understand them. But it's far better to acknowledge, understand, confess, and lead them before they lead you into sin. And because Saul doesn't confess his insecurities but rather rationalizes, deflects, blames, and explains, here is how Samuel responds in verses 22-23: And Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has also rejected you from being king.” — 1 Samuel 15:22-23 Now, with this context, you see the point of our key text in the chapter. God does not care about Saul's sacrifices, mainly because they were selfish sacrifices contrived from insecurity, sin, and disobedience. God doesn't want someone else's best. He wants your best, derived from wholehearted obedience, because you find your security in him. God wants your full obedience, not your empty rituals. Half-hearted attempts don't cut it with God. God doesn't want what you think is best. He wants what he knows is best. This text calls you to examine your heart and to move beyond the rationalizing, deflecting, blaming, and explaining. Today, challenge yourself to address your insecurities. Instead of bringing the best of your presumptions or assumptions, sacrifice your insecurities to God, and then you will know what is to be wholeheartedly submitted to Him. #ObedienceOverSacrifice, #FaithfulLeadership, #ConfrontInsecurities

Tonight on The ReidOut, Joy Reid leads with the echoes of history that reverberate as we recall President Richard Nixon's derogatory remarks towards student war protesters just days before the tragic Kent State shootings in 1970, highlighting a disturbing cycle of repression amidst current clampdowns on campus protests by universities and law enforcement. Furthermore, we delve into Donald Trump's legal tactics, observing a shift towards appealing more to his vanity than to the judge and jury, a strategy doomed for failure. Additionally, the inevitable return of Ron DeSantis to Trump's favor is scrutinized, emblematic of a trend where former Trump critics scramble to regain his approval, showcasing the enduring power dynamics within the GOP. All this and more in this edition of The ReidOut on MSNBC.

Leveraging AI to unlock new levels of creativity and communication innovationJoin Matt Abrahams with creativity and innovation experts Jeremy Utley and Kian Gohar to explore the transformative potential of AI in the realms of creativity and problem-solving. If you treat artificial intelligence like an oracle, you'll likely be disappointed. But if you treat it like a teammate, Utley and Gohar say you'll be surprised just how helpful a collaborator it can be.Utley, an adjunct professor at the Stanford d.school, and Gohar, a bestselling author, keynote speaker, and futurist, have researched how teams can integrate AI into existing workflows to generate more creative ideas and streamline problem-solving. As they've found, large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT can be powerful tools for innovation. But without knowing how to implement them, “Most teams leave the vast majority of their innovation potential on the table,” Utley says. In a new white paper, he and Gohar illuminate the path teams can take to use generative AI as a “conversation partner” and transform their brainstorming efforts as a result. In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Utley and Gohar discuss how innovators can stop viewing AI as a magic 8-ball, and start treating it as a companion — one ready to roll up its sleeves and dig deep for new ideas.Think Fast, Talk Smart is a podcast produced by Stanford Graduate School of Business.
