There is a season for all things, and the season for my Church is Broken podcast has come to an end as I have faithfully delivered that specific message that was in my heart. In this final episode of the podcast, I describe the shattering of the frame by which I have lived my life for over 40 years and the process of stepping into a new, expanded frame – one that feels more uncertain than I have ever experienced. Through this journey I’ve realized that my calling is to a broader audience – any man or woman who is seeking to grow, to become more than they are today. As human beings created in the image of God, we all have an innate desire and drive to grow. But growth is not easy. In fact, growth is often painful because it requires that we break through barriers, obstacles, habits, thought patterns, bondage, ways of operating, ways of seeing the world, darkness, etc. that keep us from becoming the person we desire to be. All these things that hold us back are the “PIT” and the only way for us to become the person we’re created to be is by walking through our pit. There is simply no other way. Over the past 20 years of my life I have experienced walking through my pit 100’s of times and my engineering brain coupled with my healer’s heart has developed a process for pit walking, based on universal truths, that leads to liberation, transformation, and spontaneous growth for anyone who is willing. The RV saga continues as I go to finalize the purchase and pick up my brand new RV trailer home. Everything looked beautiful on the outside, but then I discovered a problem “under the hood” as I looked under the trailer chassis and saw that it was covered with surface rust and corrosion. The pain, the darkness, the process... This week I entered into one of the most profound experiences of my life to date. Walk with me through my pit, all the way into the darkness, to a taproot of pain, and witness the power and beauty that I found as my son freed me from a generational cycle in my family as he showed me what it is to love. The process of growth and becoming is painful. Think about a seed cracking open to grow, or a baby being born. Nothing about the process is warm and fuzzy. In this episode I’m going to bring you into my pain and darkness – not after I have passed through it and have a great story to tell – but right in the middle of it, as I am in the darkness of another cavern of my pit. DIVINITY is within us all, but many people wander through life and never access this POWER inside.  When we’re truly in tune with GOD in our HEART, we enter into a state of FLOW - a state where things seem effortless and CREATION ushers forth from us without struggle. WHO are you allowing to TEACH your children spiritually and WHAT are they teaching them?  As parents we must understand that what our children learn about God and the Bible at a young age will have a significant IMPACT on their SPIRITUAL GROWTH throughout their life.  I want my kids to learn the stories of the Bible, but I do NOT want them to learn DOCTRINE and THEOLOGY, because ultimately, I want my kids to learn to live a life of FAITH based on REVELATION, not a life of SIGHT based on INFORMATION.  It may seem like a small distinction in what they learn, but the consequences can be significant. _____________________________________________ Welcome to THE CHURCH IS BROKEN podcast. THE STORIES that we tell ourselves create our REALITY. I recently came to the realization that the stories I’ve told myself my entire life have ROBBED me of HAPPINESS.  In COMPARING myself to others, I robbed myself of the ability to CREATE JOY. Where in your life are you doing the same?  It's time to remove your victim mindset and begin creating the life that you desire. Anything we try to BUILD in our lives requires a SOLID foundation.  When we set an IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGE for ourselves, it’s going to take many evolutions to hit that TARGET.  If you try to attack that CHALLENGE without first building your FOUNDATION, your dream is certain to crumble.  Ask yourself:  where are the weak spots in my FOUNDATION?  Whether it’s in your body, being, balance, or business, fortifying these weak spots will propel you toward achieving your IMPOSSIBLE GAME. _____________________________________________ Welcome to THE CHURCH IS BROKEN podcast. Without the foundation of REALITY and TRUTH we established in the last episode, VISION is worthless.  Once we’ve built a foundation based in REALITY, then it’s possible to reach into our heart and see a VISION of the person we will become. 90% of people who make resolutions for the new year will not last more than 3 weeks. Why is this? One big reason is that when people think about their goals – what they want to do and have, who they want to become – they operate in the realm of fantasy. And all you can build in the realm of FANTASY is FICTION. In the Warrior’s Way, we always start from the realm of REALITY, the realm of TRUTH, which is based on FACTS. For most of my life I thought that holding on to the anger of all the wrongs that had been done to me somehow gave me power over the people who had wronged me. WRONG!! Holding on was actually eating me up inside and hurting the people in my life I loved the most. But I had no ability to forgive. Finally, things got so dark that I allowed myself to be led through a process of forgiveness, and what I discovered LIBERATED me. Most of us have been taught to operate in the world based on our mind – our cognitive understanding, logic and reasoning. Most Christians have been taught in the same way, to understand that we are forgiven; that Jesus died for us and that once we accept Him, it is a fact that we are forgiven. Yet the moment we do something that causes guilt and shame, the “fact” of our forgiveness buckles under the feelings of our “sin.” Forgiveness must be EXPERIENCED EMOTIONALLY before it can become our REALITY, because what we know in our mind is an illusion, but what we know in our HEART is REAL. _____________________________________________ Welcome to THE CHURCH IS BROKEN podcast. When is a business problem not actually a business problem? 100% of the time. Realizing that you don’t have a marketing, sales, systems etc. problem in your business, but that you have a “you” problem is one of the hardest things to accept. But the moment you accept that the problem is you is the moment you can begin to turn your business problem around. The expectations we have of the people in our lives are often the very things holding them back. For many years I imprisoned my wife with my expectations, limiting her in the pursuit of her passion and purpose. Where are you seeking salvation? Who are you hoping to rescue you? Are you blaming God or someone else for the lack of results in your life? Samuel uses an experience with his son to highlight the problem with operating from a place of guilt and shame in our life. When guilt and shame are the drivers to our actions, the end result is damage, even destruction. Our bodies are the interface through which we experience everything in life - physically, emotionally, spiritually. Our bodies are the temple of God. Sam explores the mindset that allowed his body to decline from a weapon to an anchor, and how living the Warrior’s Way enabled him to reclaim his body. Every day we have an opportunity to access power in and through or bodies so that they serve us as a tool at the highest level. Addiction, no matter what it is, cannot be overcome by restriction. Simply cutting something out of your life is not enough. You need to REMOVE THE TRIGGERS, BUILD NEW ADDICTIONS, and UNBLOCK THE FLOW to transform your life from a life of SEDATION ADDICTIONS to CREATION ADDICTIONS. _________________________ Welcome to THE CHURCH IS BROKEN podcast. Whether we like it or not, we are all set in a frame and subject to authority at some level. Jesus modeled the path of subjection, taking on the identity of not only a man but a slave, putting himself under men and never considering being equal to God something to be held onto. Ultimately He became obedient unto death, so God exalted Him, bestowing on Him the name that is above every name. In this episode, Sam explains how Christians have been misled by the synonymous use of the terms Scripture and “Word,” which has resulted in great misunderstanding, mishandling, and misuse of the Bible. In John 5:39 Jesus rebuked the religious people of His time for this same approach to the Bible saying “you search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these (Scriptures) that testify about Me, and you are unwilling to come to Me that you may have life.” The Word, or Logos in Greek, is God Himself in the person of Jesus, not the black and white letters of the Bible.
