We at the Field of 68 media network are thrilled to announce the launch of a new series called 68 Shining Moments. We’ve spent the last four months amassing interviews with the people that lived the greatest, the most memorable moments in the history of the NCAA tournament. We went straight to the horse’s mouth to find out when T.J. Sorrentine realized that he had hit that shot from the parking lot, and if Ali Farohkmanesh was really serious with that shot. We talked to Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome from Virginia. We sat with Danny Manning, and Kris Jenkins, and Ryan Arcidiacono, and Keith Smart, and Dunk City. Although he never made it to the NBA, Teddy Dupay was one of the most prolific shooters in Florida basketball history — and also one of the Gators' most interesting personalities. In his discussion with Patric, Teddy shares about what he's doing in his post-playing days as well as how he ended up at Florida, plus one heck of a story about his time playing abroad in Venezuela. You might not be able to see it here, but Matt Walsh is enjoying his post-playing days on the beaches of the Pacific Ocean as a co-owner of the NBL's New Zealand Breakers. He and Patric talk about what it was like in the early years of the Billy Donovan era at Florida and debate their favorite places to play abroad — from Belgium to Spain to France to Greece and beyond. Plus, Matt shares how he got into this phase of his basketball life and why the NBL may be an even better route for soon-to-be NBA players like LaMelo Ball and R.J. Hampton, each of whom took their talents halfway around the world last season. Changing roles for the first time ever, former Gator Patric Young interviews Pat Dooley, who is a legendary beat writer that covered the Florida Gators for news papers, radio and TV for years. Their conversation takes a number of different turns, but Dooley has all of the those about Florida and Young asks all of the right question.
Jeremy Foley was the Florida athletic director for 24 years, overseeing a time when the university had the best reputation for being a football and a basketball school. He was there for the back-to-back titles that Billy Donovan won. He was there for Urban Meyer and the drama that brought. He spent some time with Patric Young talking about the life of a big time Division I athletic director. Anthony Duruji followed the same path that Mike White did, going from Louisiana Tech to Florida, where he is going to be a junior starter for the Bulldogs. Duruji joins former Florida big man Patric Young to talk about what it is like to be a center for the Gators and what we can expect from this year's Florida team. There is no one better to give a scouting report for this year's roster than a member of this year's roster. Patric Young is back with another podcast, this time with a former teammate and a fellow Florida Gator standout currently playing overseas in Scottie Wilbekin. In this podcast, they talk about the good ole days and remember what it was like to play on a team that made it to the Final Four. Perhaps the most interesting part of this conversation came when they discussed Deni Avdija, a potential top five pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and a teammate of Wilbekin's with Maccabi Tel-Aviv. In the second episode of Patric Young's podcast Young and the Rowdies, the former Florida star was joined by current Gator head coach Mike White to talk through important matters like the pace at which Florida is going to play this season, the dangers of social media in the modern basketball landscape and why Mike's shirts are always tucked in so perfectly during a hard-fought game.
