Today on the Logan Blackman Show we take a look at some of the contracts recently signed from around the NFL, mainly focusing on the quarterback position. We discuss how Derek Carr will fit in New Orleans, as well as rank the top 10 quarterbacks currently in the NFC. We then congratulate Geno on getting his new extension, after breaking a few Seahawks passing records, while also taking time to reflect on the fact that Daniel Jones, aka 'Vanilla Vick,' is now a $40 million quarterback. With all these quarterbacks getting signed, we have to then discuss Lamar Jackson getting a non-exclusive franchise tag placed on him by the Ravens. We go over why the two sides can't agree on a deal and why, apparently, every NFL team is openly saying they are not interested in the former unanimous MVP. Moving to the draft, we go over which quarterback the Colts could be favoring post combine, and why it may not actually be the 'Alabama kid.' We also go over our favorite draft day fits for each quarterback as well as go over why Texas Tech's Tyree Wilson could be the first defender off the board when the draft rolls around in April. *This episode was originally released on September 1, 2021.*Two weeks before his third birthday, two-year-old Dante Mullinix was rushed to the hospital, unresponsive. His mother's boyfriend claimed Dante choked on animal crackers. Several days later, on September 15, 2018, Dante was pronounced dead. His death was ruled a homicide caused by traumatic brain injury with strangulation and chest compression. An autopsy revealed the toddler's head was covered with bruises, and he also had bleeding on the brain as well as hemorrhaging inside his neck.Police arrested 40-year-old Tyree Bowie and charged him with Dante's murder. He currently awaits trial, but Dante's aunt, Sarah Mullinix, and many others believe he is innocent. Did authorities in York County, Pennsylvania arrest the wrong man? Dante's death was ruled a homicide caused by traumatic brain injury with strangulation and chest compression, but Dante's head and body were also covered in bruises, and he suffered from an active case of herpes 2.My guest on today's episode is Dante's maternal aunt, Sarah Mullinix, who helped her sister raise Dante for all but the last three months of his life and petitioned the court for emergency custody of her nephew when she found out Leah and Dante were homeless. Even after his death, Sarah continues fighting for Dante. Tyree loved to skateboard. He was just 80 yards away from his mother's house when he was stopped by Memphis police. Tyre called out to his mother as he was being beaten by five Memphis police officers.  On the evening of January 7, Memphis police stopped Tyre while he was driving. Initially, the police report indicated Tyre was stopped for reckless driving. But after extensive, initial review the Memphis chief of police indicated there was no proof of probable cause for the traffic stop. He died in the hospital three days after that traffic stop. On Friday evening, the City of Memphis released video footage of the traffic stop. It is hard to watch. The video shows five officers pepper spraying, beating, kicking, punching, shocking, and dragging Tyre. The five officers were fired 2 weeks ago. On Thursday, they were indicted on multiple felony charges, including second-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression.For more, we spoke with Aaron Morrison, the national race and ethnicity writer for the Associated Press.

In addition to his success on the football field, David Tyree has also enjoyed a successful career off the field as well. After his retirement from the NFL as a player, he spent two years at NFL League Headquarters in NYC, working in the Player Engagement Department. In July 2014, he received a second homecoming when the New York Football Giants named him as the Director of Player Development. Since leaving that position in 2019, David is making headway as an entrepreneur and sports analyst. Starting in 2021, he began co-hosting “Odds with Ends” on MSG alongside former Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka.David graduated from Montclair High School in 1998 with a full four-year athletic scholarship to Syracuse University. He excelled as a wide receiver and special teams player through unparalleled work ethic and endurance. Last night was a night of outrage. Outrage at the brutal and violent beating that we witnessed when Memphis, Tennessee, law enforcement officials released inhumane footage of the fatal police beating of Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man who died three days after a traffic stop on Jan. 7. The video shows officers using a taser on Nichols, hitting him with a baton and kicking and hitting him in the head. Some of his last words crying out for his mom. According to Wikipedia Nichols was a member of the Skateboarding community, worked for FedEx and was an aspiring photographer. Nichols was raised in Sacramento, California, and moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in 2020. According to Nichols' attorney, Benjamin Crump, Nichols was underweight due to Crohn's disease, weighing about 145 pounds at a height of 6 feet 3 inches.Officers, members of the SCORPION unit, otherwise known as the Street Crimes Operation to Restore Peace in Our Neighborhoods, pulled Nichols over in a traffic stop Jan. 7. He was hospitalized in critical condition and died Jan. 10. Federal investigators opened a civil rights investigation Jan. 18. The officers were fired Jan. 20 and charged with murder and other related crimes Thursday.Civil rights attorney Ben Crump applauded the Memphis police chief and county attorneys for quickly taking legal action against the five former officers accused of murdering Tyre Nichols."We look at how swiftly the district attorney brought charges against them in less than 20 days," Crump said in a news conference. "We want to proclaim that this is the blueprint going forward for anytime any officers, whether they be Black or white, will be held accountable.
