Sean, welcome to the show! Sean: Thanks for inviting me, man. I'm excited to be here. Daniel: I’m very happy to have you, Sean. Would you, please, take a few minutes and tell us a little bit more about you, share a little of your story if you could? Sean: Yeah. So, I had the most average American middle-class upbringing imaginable. You kind of always knew what was next, you always kind of followed the path of least resistance a little bit. Like, when I was in sixth grade, I knew that I was going to go to Oregon State University, I was going to study finance, I was going to live in the dorms with my best friend, which is what ended up happening. Six months before I graduated college, I had a job lined up in Portland Oregon, working as a financial analyst, so it was always just kind of like the path of least resistance. You just kind of followed what was next in the plan, and it was very much kind of American dream. 2.5 kids, white picket fence, like that was the path that things were going down. And unfortunately, I graduated in July of 2007, so obviously, most of us remember that was the peak of the market, that was a terrible time to get into the financial world. And so by February of 2009, the market had completely crashed, the company that I was working for, they weren't doing very well, their clients weren't doing very well, my boss was unhappy, I was unhappy. So what I ended up doing was, I had saved up all of my vacation time for that year, to take a two and a half week trip down to Rio with one of my best friends. And so we went down there, had the absolute time in our lives. We went to Iguazu Falls, one of the seven natural wonders in the world, we went hang gliding over Rio, we danced in the carnival parade. And there's like 8-foot tall ridiculous costumes. And basically, it was kind of on that trip I realized that I should be able to do stuff like this whenever I wanted. I was going to go back to a job in Portland with miserable weather, have no vacation days left, and I wasn't getting closer to either of the two goals I had set for myself when I graduated college, which were to travel the world and to own my own business. To make matters worse, the day I got back from that trip, my boss told me that he was giving me a 20% pay cut and if the whole company was taking a 20% pay cut because of the financial situation, so that kind of was the impetus to make a change. And a couple months later, I started Location Rebel as a way to hold myself accountable to do all the things that I wanted to do in life, and that kind of set the scene for everything that's happened over the last eight years. Daniel: Wow, that's amazing, Sean. And that's awesome actually, you came back, and probably what somebody will think that is the worst news ever, that your salary is cut like 25%. Sean: Yes, 20%. Daniel: Imagine that you come back from the trip after spending I guess a lot of money on your trip, and then you come back and you have a pay cut.

I am really excited to have him here with us, I am here with Matt Inglot, the owner, and operator of freelancetransformation.com. Freelance Transformation helps and teaches freelancers to get higher paying clients and projects to work less and get rid of the stress. Sounds good, right? So let's continue talking with Matt about Freelance Transformation, and how you can use a freelancing business to create freedom in your life so you can live a lifestyle with more flexibility and income as well. Matt, welcome to the show! Matt: Thanks so much for having me, Daniel. Daniel: Very happy to have you, Matt. I'm excited of course, we were talking before the interview, and you're right now in Alberta Canada. So, Matt, would you please take a few minutes and tell us a little bit more about you and share a little bit of your story if you could? Matt: Yeah, absolutely. Since university, I have been a web developer, I have been running my own web agency, and it's something that I started because I was originally working for a start-up and that startup went bankrupt. I found myself suddenly needing work, needing to support myself, and I started building websites. And it went for me building websites on my own to me eventually hiring a team, and then me deciding to get an office, and then realizing that I had actually really created a job for myself, of really kind of a 9-5 prison, instead of 9-5, it was more like 99.  And then in 2011, I rebuilt that completely, and I transitioned the business and made it in a way where I still have the agency but now it's remote, I'm able to live where I want. I don't have to work crazy hours, I mean, it's more of like a 20, maybe a 30-hour a week position now. And it allows me to have the free hand to be able to shape my way, to shape my life the way that I want to shape it. Daniel: Very nice, Matt. Tell me a little bit about what is the part of your freelancing business that you enjoy the most? Matt: That's a great question. I think the thing that I enjoy most is that everything I do has a positive impact on someone's life. I've got my agency, and there we've helped a lot of our clients really grow their businesses, and to actually make a meaningful contribution there, and then get compensated accordingly, which is nice as well. And then with Freelance Transformation, it's the same thing, we've been able to help people get started with freelancing, we've been able to help people become better freelancers, higher-earning freelancers, less stressed out freelancers, so being able to do that kind of work and being able to wake up every day knowing that you are actually having some kind of impact, and that you're not just getting up and sitting down in front of a computer and punching keys on a keyboard because your employer tells you to - that's incredibly rewarding. Daniel: Yes, definitely, it gives a little bit more meaning to your freelancing business for sure and in your life of course. Matt, how or where did this idea for Freelance Transformation came from? Matt: I started Freelance Transformation back in 2015, and I had been thinking about it longer. It basically came from my own story and from everything that I saw with the mistakes that I had made, and then talking to other freelancers I realized that a lot of them were making the same mistakes, and going down the same path and having the same sorts of problems such as suddenly finding themselves working 60 or 80 hours a week, and having the types of clients that they don't want to have, and not really earning the kind of income that they wanted to be earning. “Real value of travel comes from interaction with people” Derek Baron Derek Baron is the founder of “Wandering Earl Tours” which is offering unique, small-group trips to destinations around the world. For the past decade, he’s been traveling around the world. While traveling to Mexico, a friend of Derek suggested him to start blogging. He made a pretty simple website and start posting articles as a blogger. Suddenly, he realized people started reading his post, commenting, emailing him regularly. From that point on, he became serious to make his blog more resourceful. Naturally, this conversation was primarily focused on traveling around the world through the lens of Derek’s experience. “It’s really important in business to have something more to talk about than business” Jonathan Kraft Jonathan started his career as a web page developer back in 2001. He did accidentally develop a webpage to make a cheap phone call from Germany to the USA while studying in Germany as an exchange student. Later he got the idea to monetize that website through affiliate marketing. Jonathan also was actively involved in affiliate and network marketing before started traveling the world in 2009. Visited almost 45 countries so far. Jonathan is currently working as a digital strategist. He was deeply influenced by Jim Rohn and Robert Kiyosaki and learned that profits are better than wages. Missinglettr is entirely designed for the blogger; about 90 percent of businesses use blog posts. It will automatically create social content for each blog post you publish. He left home at 16 to pursue a new career goal. While at the University he did motivate himself to do things for the right reason. After completing his graduation he launched several successful and unsuccessful startups. According to Benjamin, through running a successful agency he did involve in different industries, different geographical regions, which helps him to pinpoint different problems; it also helps him to identify trend and patterns as well as repeatable issues, as a result, he did manage to create high end tech solutions. Today in the 13th episode of the Wake Up to Freedom Podcast, Daniel Carbonel’s is a guest for no other than James Martell. Once again whenever James speaks you had better get yourself a huge bucket, because he speaks gold and you wouldn’t want to miss out on any financial freedom advice he has to give. Daniel Carbonel is at it again! And this time on the 12th episode of his Wake Up to Freedom Podcast he brings in another internet marketing superstar: Jeet Banerjee. Jeet will be talking about his massive drive to success that made him into one of the youngest and most successful online entrepreneurs in the world. His determination to achieve something very significant in his life is incredible and his insatiable desire to be exactly where he wanted to be is mind-blowing. Jeet is literally the equivalent of 8-world title boxing champion, Manny Pacquiao in the internet business arena. He has an internet academy called, The Income Incubator, which basically teaches you the radical internet business guide based on his own experience. Let’s find out more about him. Think Big, Do Big Jeet started his passion for entrepreneurship when he was at the tender age of 9 when he was just learning about the internet. During that time also he was a big fan of basketball, so he decided to create a website that would feature a lot of his ideas on basketball and called that website Power Dunk. This was his first run with his internet business, although it didn’t made him any money but it gave him something even more important – experience. As he turned 15 his dad one day told him that all his personal expenses (i.e. watching movies, buying new shoes, buying a new game console etc.) would be paid for by him and that he needed to get a job. He was in and out of jobs as quickly as the days turned into weeks, because he wasn’t enjoying with what he was doing. He was so far away yet from coming up with amazing internet business guide like he does now. So one day he came home and did a Google search about what’s wrong with him – sort of like a person looking for the type of diseases they have based on the symptomps, and he found out his true calling – entrepreneurship. Creating an Awesome Internet Business Guide Come 2011 he got tired of the meager jobs with meager pay and started his own internet company, JB Media Force. He didn’t have enough money to hire staff from the US, so with a little thinking on his feet he found out about freelancers from Asia that would more than be happy to work for him as his staff for 1/3 of the price. So while he did all the customer acquisitions by himself his team would help him do all the heavy-lifting until he was able to build financial freedom from that small start-up. Rolling on with Episode 11 of Daniel Carbonel’s Wake Up to Freedom Podcast introduces us to Paul Kortman. Paul is a digital nomad and even though he is married with four kids he is able to support his family on what otherwise be a very expensive lifestyle that only millionaires could afford. Or maybe Paul is a millionaire himself! Being a digital nomad was never Paul’s dream, but he was able to find financial freedom online and that’s how it all started. Find out more from this episode on how Paul was able to raise his family while traveling across continents on a very efficient budget plan. Who is Paul Kortman? Paul Kortman is the owner and operator of Home Along The Way.com. This website which includes a blog, family travel blog, books, podcast and other interesting things showcases his success by creating financial freedom online. They are a family of 6 who have chosen to be location-independent and in 2014 they’ve decided to sell everything they had and started traveling all over the world! They have been to Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, San Francisco, USA, South Africa, Portugal, Bulgaria and Malaysia; and they don’t intend to stop any time soon. Paul is easily making over half a million dollars a year just by our estimates, but he claims that most of the places he and his family have been to only cost them $1,000 a month to live in. That already includes rent, airplane tickets, rented vehicles, food and other expenses – which is crazy considering the inflation and high costs of living in almost every place you go. But Paul was able to do it through his digital marketing chops and amazing wits. Why Did He Decide to Become a Digital Nomad? Paul didn’t actually plan to become a digital nomad and he merely called his wife’s bluff about the whole location-independent thing after listing to a podcast called, “Tropical MBA.” They simply decided one day that they were going to travel the world and live a freedom lifestyle business while maximizing their family time together and never miss out on time with their kids again. They were able to do this by creating financial freedom online and the returns from their investments (time and effort) were very positive and he and his wife are so pleased with it. Having successfully established himself as a premier digital marketer with his own digital marketing agency, Paul, being a normal human being that he is, wanted what other successful people had. Things like expensive clothes, gold watches, pieces of jewelry and other accessories, exotic cars and big houses that he thought would make him and his family happy. However, pondering on that idea he realized that it was contrary to what they all wanted as a family – time freedom. Having created his freedom business now and finding the gold at the end of the rainbow which is financial freedom online, he doesn’t need all those material wealth anymore even though he could afford to buy them. No, the goal was to spend time together, love each other, and enjoy life to the fullest. What Does He Want You to Do with Your Life? Often digital marketers are among the kindest people on Earth that you’ll ever meet and it’s not because they make lots of money and enjoy a freedom lifestyle business. But rather it’s because they see the potential in every person they meet and they know exactly how to make any person a successful entrepreneur and create their own financial freedom online. So if you ask what Paul wants you to do with your life? Well, he would want you to become as successful and as happy as he is. Once you receive so many blessings, selfishness will not be found in you and all you want to do is to share all these blessings to every soul you touch.
