In this episode, Jonathan Bramwell, Founder of Bramwell Relocation, discusses how he began in removals 42 years ago, assisting with the delivery of furniture for his mother's antique furniture and restoration business, before buying his own van and delivering items from the local auction house. At that time Jonathan's business was SBS (Sure to Be of Service), which grew not only from removals but also from storage and commercial contracts, including distribution. At its peak SBS was employing 70 people and turning over £5m a year! However, during the global economic crash of 2008/9 business started to get tough as contracts were cancelled, and eventually SBS was placed into administration and up for sale – and the buyer, none other than Clockwork Removals, where Jonathan was offered a role within Sales, and then promoted to National Sales Director, before eventually parting company. 8 months after leaving Clockwork, and at the tender age of 48 Jonathan was told (twice) that he could do it again, and so Bramwell Relocation was formed, and today is a true family affair consisting of Jonathan, Bev (wife), Lewis (son) & Sarah (daughter), primarily offering very high quality domestic removals & storage services, employing 10 and running a fleet of 3 x HGVs (2 of which are demount bodies), 4 x Luton vans, 2 x VW Transporters and 1 x VW Crafter. Storage wise they offer containerised storage, shipping container storage and a very small amount of self-storage. Jonathan's biggest challenge ever has to be running a business for 26 years and letting it go. Any challenge since then Jonathan regards as ‘just stuff' rather than a challenge. The one thing Jonathan would change from his moving past is to have concentrated more on removals, rather than diversify into providing different services. Jonathan has two high points of being within the industry, in 2000 Jonathan was appointed Chairman of the BAR Yorkshire Area, and more recently when Lewis & Sarah joined the business. The one thing Jonathan would like to change within the industry is the process in which people buy houses. The advice Jonathan would give himself just starting out within the industry again is to immediately deliver great service, constantly regulate yourself, don't over trade (become a busy fool), and control your cash. In the next 5 years Jonathan hopes to be semi-retired. Industry wise, Jonathan sees an increase in the use of 3.5 tonne vans. Outside of the industry Jonathan has an obsession for cars and motorcycles. Jonathan enjoys skiing, vacations, gardening, and trips to the Isle of Man. And as always, we end Moving Matters with a funny moving story, regarding plums. Enjoy! Sign up for free here: https://ryanhawk.kit.com/profile Bob Stoops was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2021. He was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1999 to 2016. He led the Sooners to a 191-48 record over his career. His 2000/2001 team won the national championship. He earned the National Coach of the Year award the same season. Since 2020, Stoops has been a head coach in the XFL, winning an XFL Championship in 2023 with the Arlington Renegades. He played college football at the University of Iowa, earning team MVP his senior year as a defensive back. Notes: Coaches Bob has worked for: Hayden Fry at Iowa, Bill Snyder at Kansas State, and Steve Spurrier at Florida. He's worked for some amazing coaches. Relationships are everything. You must connect with people. You must be authentic. Learn from other coaches, but you have to be yourself Sherri Coale: “One of my favorite things about him is he's the busiest man on the planet but never appeared that way. That's a skill and an art. That fascinates me.” What makes a great head coach? They relate to people. They care about them. They can motivate and influence by clearly sharing the vision of the program and inspiring others to get on board. They are decisive people. Most importantly, they know how to connect with people. All leadership is a people business. If you can't connect with others, you'll probably struggle. Creating a “coaches forest” (beyond a tree) - Mike Stoops, Mark Mangino, Mike Leach, Bo Pelini, Kevin Sumlin, Kevin Wilson, Lincoln Riley, and more. How has Bob prepared so many guys to be successful head coaches? Hiring – “I always tried to hire people smarter than me.” A lot of people say this, but not all do this. Coach Stoops looked for people who had a track record of performance… And then he used his gut instincts after he spent time with him. He paid attention to how they treated his secretary, how they treated the waiter at lunch… Some call those the little things, but they were very important to Coach Stoops The overarching theme of the entire conversation was the simplicity of how Coach Stoops built his program. He didn't try to overcomplicate anything. He knew he wanted coaches who were accomplished, high-character people. And he wanted tough players who loved football. Their offenses may have looked exotic but they didn't have a ton of plays installed. They focused on what they did and then practiced it relentlessly so that they would execute better than their opponents. I think there's something beautiful in the simplicity with how he's built his program and the results speak for themselves. Great players want to be coached - Jeremiah Smith, Adrian Peterson. What he looked for in players: They have to LOVE football. Need to be tough and physical. Someone like Dan Cody. From Oklahoma, was skinny, and nobody on the staff wanted to give him a scholarship, but Coach Stoops did, and he turned out to be a great player. Liked to keep local guys home. Off-season workouts create the culture of the team. "We won because we outworked everyone." The attitude of the national championship team - "They were tired of being kicked around." And "I shared with them the history of Oklahoma and let them know the way it should be. When we started, they were a losing team." Josh Heupel - The most valuable recruit ever for Coach Stoops. Mike Leach was a 1 of 1. An original. He seemed relaxed and casual, but he was also very demanding that they do it right. He was also focused on just a few plays instead of trying to do everything. FOCUS. Do what we do Wife Carol - Impressive leader at Mary Kay. Won a pink Cadillac 16 years in a row. National Sales Director. Life/Career Advice - Go hard, be tough, be true to yourself, enjoy the struggle, and look forward to the fight. Nothing great happens without going through struggles first.

Extensive expertise in pharmaceutical sales management, leadership, sales force deployment, business development, strategic selling, contract negotiation, business-to-business service contracting, licensing, and pharmaceutical and contracted service marketing. Knowledge of myriad dosage forms and therapeutic classes, as well as regulatory environments and payer systems. Check out the latest episode of our Conversational Selling podcast to learn more about Roger. In this episode, Nancy and Roger discuss the following:The definition of high-impact communicationThe difference between persuasion, influence, and manipulation in salesThe importance of storytelling in sales, positioning the customer as the heroThe value of continual learning and personal investment versus traditional financial investmentsKeypoints from Roger's book, An Insider's Guide to BusinessKey Takeaways: The best way for a salesperson to make an impact in their industry, in the world, and on others is to start with genuinely understanding what their prospect needs.Buying behavior is this: you're telling a story, and the customer is the hero.People will buy from people they like, but more people will buy from people whom they trust to solve their issue."High-impact communication, by my definition, is when two individuals have a complete, thorough, and empathetic understanding of each other's wants and needs. And what do I mean by that? Whether it's a personal relationship, a family relationship, a business relationship, or even a vendor-customer relationship, it's about both sides understanding what each other needs to thrive in that relationship. Too often, especially in today's digital world, communication becomes overly transactional. I love how you started by saying that every business and everything else starts with a human interaction.” – ROGER"I appreciate the question because it will allow me to delineate the difference between persuasion, influence, and manipulation. And they are too often conflated. The consumer conflates them; even salespeople conflate the two when really persuasion and influence are about empathetically trying to understand what your pain point, your issue, your area of opportunity is—something that, you know, you're at point A and you're trying to get to point C, let's say. And then I help through persuasion, and I'm going to persuade you to understand that this problem needs to be acted upon. If you think about it for a long time, if you just keep wondering about it, if you stress about it, you're not going to solve your issue. So I'm going to persuade you that you need to take action. And I'm going to do that through very ethical means and just skillful means, but to help build that bridge—just think of, you know, in your mind, literally building a bridge over a small river from A to C, and my product or solution and support and services will help get you from A to C. Now, manipulation is, "Hey, I want to get you to C because I make a big commission off of it, but you really don't need C, and your A is just fine for you, or another vendor would get you to C a lot easier and cheaper than me. But I'm going to use, you know, tricks and slick lines and all that, you know, to get you there." […] People will always exchange money for a solution to a problem that is causing them pain or a solution to a problem that will help them grow to be even more successful. And too many times—and you know this—too many times a salesperson will boast about their company, they'll boast about their track record, about their service record, about their customer satisfaction record. You know what? Those are great. The customer couldn't care less. The customer wants to know, "Can you solve my problem?" You know, "Can you solve my problem?" – ROGER"I would challenge them to continue learning, listen to Nancy's podcast, you know, buy those $997 courses from genuine, great people that you can trust and who will deliver value. Go to that weekend seminar, invest the two grand to do that because you should be investing in yourself as much as you're investing in your business and investing in the stock market. I mean, the stock market is going to make 8 to 10% over the long run. You put that same two grand into yourself, you can quintuple that money in a year. You know, to me, it's a no-brainer about continual learning." – ROGERConnect with Roger Martin:LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/realrogermartin/Thrive More Brands:  https://thrivemorebrands.com/Try Our Proven, 3-Step System, Guaranteeing Accountability and Transparency that Drives RESULTS by clicking on this link: https://oneofakindsales.com/call-center-in-a-box/  Connect with Nancy Calabrese: Twitter:https://twitter.com/oneofakindsalesFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/One-Of-A-Kind-Sales-304978633264832/Website:https://oneofakindsales.comPhone: 908-879-2911 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ncalabrese/Email: leads@oneofakindsales.com

Beverage alcohol distributors sit at the epicenter of a cluttered product landscape where, according to Mark Harmon of the Independent Distributor Network, “God isn't making any more shelf space.” Distributors only have so much time and attention they can give to each spirits brand. What's left is for brands to do everything in their power to make a compelling case that their products deserve to take up a meaningful share of a distributor's attention. Emily Pennington sat down with key figures at Southern Glazers, Breakthru Beverage Group, Skurnik Wines & Spirits, and the Independent Distributor Network at Bar Convent Brooklyn this month to discuss the current state of beverage alcohol's second tier. This diverse cast of key wholesalers offers a window into how distributors are viewing and operating the market for spirits brands in 2024. They'll explore the evolving dynamics within distribution in the wake of the pandemic and uncover what distributors are looking for when considering a new brand partnership. They'll also highlight the red flags that can derail a brand's chances of securing distribution. I sat with two men who genuinely know the livestock industry on this Underdog Ag podcast, Mr. Ken Stewart from XL Ranch in Cowley, Wyo. and Dr. James Caldwell of Harrisburg, S.D. More about my guests: About Dr. Caldwell:James Caldwell and his wife Michelle reside in Harrisburg, S.D. with their three children – Trey, Jackson, and Zoey. James grew up farming tobacco and managing cow/calf operations in Ohio. He knew at a young age all he wanted to do was farm; however, he fell in love with research in school. In 2009, James earned his P.h.D in Ruminant Nutrition and has been conducting research in some capacity ever since. Dr. Caldwell's diverse experiences include teaching at the college level, becoming a small ruminant expert, running companion animal research and milk replacer research for Land O'Lakes Purina in Gray Summit, MO. and then diving headfirst into feed additives throughout the next eight years. The Caldwells just recently sold their 270-acre cow/calf and hair sheep farm in Kentucky to move to South Dakota. They still own cattle and are still heavily involved in agriculture with their kids and livestock. James still leads the research at Advanced Ag Products while taking on the role as President for the company this past July. About Ken Stewart:Ken and his wife Jenny Stewart are owners of XL Ranch in Wyo. Ken grew up on a dairy that was converted to beef when he was still quite young. It didn't take him long to know that raising beef cattle was what he wanted to do. The study of genetics and the ability to breed cattle that can perform within the parameters of the resources available on any given location at the optimum level, is what really turns Stewart's crank and fuels his passion. Stewart's diverse experience includes management of large, commercial herds in excess of 12,000 cows all the way to smaller seedstock operations of numerous sizes across the continental U.S.A. In today's episode, Jess sits down with Kaylee to share her journey. She outlines how she carved out her path in the automotive industry, starting with zero prior knowledge and rising to the position of Chief Marketing Officer. Throughout their conversation, they shed light on the challenges and rewards associated with working in a male-dominated industry. Moreover, they highlight the value of nurturing a supportive community and the significance of extending a helping hand to those in need. Despite the automotive industry's long history of male dominance, a growing wave of young women, like Jess, are making their presence known. Jess's journey began in sales, where she sought advice from successful salesmen Brad Pashel and Eric Wilson. Eager to lend their expertise, they equipped her with valuable tips and tricks. Nonetheless, Jess faced significant hurdles on her path to success. One of these was overcoming a mindset issue, a challenge that she successfully navigated. Following a difficult conversation with Robin, she felt drawn even closer to the company. Even when she was told that her pregnancy might block her from promotion, Jess persisted and ultimately secured her role as the National Sales Director for Epic BDC. The challenges Jess faced weren't confined to her professional life. As a mother, she navigated serious health issues with her daughter Kenley, who was born premature.
