Host Tom Appel and co-hosts Jill Ciminillo and Damon Bell start the show with a discussion of Jeep's forthcoming plug-in-hybrid Wrangler, Compass, and Renegade models, and their sub-brand name: 4xe. We then discuss Jill's recent test vehicle: the 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited. Paul Herrold, Chief Editor at Sons of Speed, joins us in-studio to talk about his video review of the 2020 Toyota Supra. Tom has another "punny" car-name/movie-title quiz, and this time he comes up with a couple stumpers. Damon gives a run-down of this week's articles on the Consumer Guide Daily Drive blog. In recognition of the new Supra's BMW/Toyota parentage, we recall other vehicles that were products of automaker partnerships to close out the show.
We've completed testing of the 2020 Toyota Supra. Find out how it performed and if its BMW-based platform lives up to the hype. We also talk about CR's joint effort with AAA, J.D. Power, and the National Safety Council to develop common terms for advanced driver safety systems. Plus, we answer audience questions about crash tests, the performance of different size winter tires, and if leaving a sunroof cracked open will help keep a car cool. ————————————————— Subscribe to Talking Cars on Apple Podcasts! This we we share our thoughts and experiences from recent events we attended for the Canadian launches of a few exciting sports cars. We start off by talking about the all-new 2020 Toyota Supra and what it was like to drive on the road and racetrack. Can the new Supra live up to the hype and is a proper sports car? We find out. We also talk about changes coming to Toyota's model line for 2020 including the addition of Android Auto to many models. Finally, we talk about the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S which we had an opportunity to drive on the track at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
We give our first impressions of the much anticipated return of the Toyota Supra, and discuss how to compares with the Supras of the past. Testing is complete on the 2019 BMW Z4, and we talk about how it performed in the tests here at our track. We also answer audience questions about the Hyundai sunroof class action lawsuit, heavy duty pickup trucks, and why new cars are ditching the traditional emergency brake for an electronic e-brake. ————————————————— Subscribe to Talking Cars on Apple Podcasts! The 2020 Toyota Supra isn't quite here yet, but Sami spends a day on the racetrack behind the wheel of a Gazoo Racing prototype Supra at Jarama, Spain, while also piloting it through the streets of Madrid. Driven back to back against the Toyota GT86, it raises almost as many questions as it answers, and the pair go deep on what it means for a car with a history as long as the Supra to ride entirely on BMW mechanicals. Benjamin is back from the Arctic Ocean after driving the region's only permanent road to the northern shore in the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, a truck that shakes out much better than its luxury-focused GMC Sierra Denali platform-twin.
