Copyrights Cover: www.netcarshow.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This episode I headed to the flat sixes and flat white car meet with host and all round great guy Seán Matthews, founder of Renneleven. Seán's Porsche 996 was having some work and so he hopped in the passenger seat of the GT86 and we headed over together. It was about half an hour in to the drive Seán brought to light he had mic's with him and that we could record directly to them, so what better opportunity for a podcast! This was recorded in the rather noisy GT86, and using microphones I've not used before, to put this together I had to download and learn a whole new piece of software! As is often the case, you're on this learning journey with me. There may be some road noise, and there's two parts to the recording, hopefully it's all pretty coherent. I also snook in a bit of an advert for Werke Mag in the intro to say thank you for them featuring a Takona ad in the mag, you should check them out here.

Want your GT86 to rev out to 9,000 RPM? Here's one way to do it.The 570HP 4.5L Ferrari V8 powered ‘GT4586' of Ryan Tuerck was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and we caught up with Brian Hartsock of Unicorn Garage to get a few more details of one of the more unusual GT86 engine swaps you're ever likely to see. The engine hails from the F136 V8 family and originally was housed in a Ferrari 458. Other than some setup changes for fitment, it remains relatively stock and despite boasting 80% of its 540Nm of torque being on tap from 3,250 rpm, Nitrous Oxide is injected up until 6,000 rpm to prevent a lot of clutch work and increased maintenance to keep it sliding.Want to develop your own skills further? Hi. Happy 2022! We hope you all had a merry Driftmas and Happy New Beer! Sorry 199 is late haha, classic. We kick off this week with news about the new near-$50,000 Honda Civic, and that new V8 SuperCars will come in 2023.... Which will be old cars when they kick off, but yes, another year for the Holden Commodore.... Somehow. Then Matt has a valid rant about tinfoil anti-vaxxers, and Joel talks about trying to run an engine without an ECU. Then Mitch admits to a bit of a cockup, and Matt talks admits to a bit of a cockup and to cooking Mitch's old Hilux, and Joel fixed his cock up. Mitch then talks about what he's done to the Integra, and Matt talks about getting his Cruiser modplated and GVM upgraded, and then we talk about the exciting topic of Compusory Third Party, normal Third Party, and Comprehensive Insurance. Joseph then talks about the new-to-him headers he bought for his GT86. Then we end on Car World Cup.

We are back for episode 196! This week Joseph kicks off with the news, and the first piece of news is Tesla claiming the Nurburgring Lap Record for Electric Vehicles with a 7m30s lap at an average of 166kph, and Italy wants an exemption from the E.U. for incoming electric car laws for supercar manufacturers. We then have pricing news about the 2022 Subary BRZ (for the Australian market), but initally only 500 cars will be coming in the first batch. We then take a couple questions from a listener. Joseph then talks about Formula 1 at Monza. Matt then does a shoutout for a new Australian YouTube channel, ReDriven, and then we go through their Top 5 underrated performance cars. Mitch then talks about what he's done to his cars this week, for both the Prado and the Integra. Joseph then talks about the work he's done to his GT86. We then answer some questions that we didn't know we missed - Sorry lads. Then we end on the Car World Cup. Hey, look at that, this episode is up on the right day! Fancy that. There's some actual automotive news this week, which is a nice change of pace, and is very welcome. We kick off the news with the new Toyota GazooRacing 86, the naturally aspirated FA24 powered successor to the wonderful GT86. We then talk about the new "400" Zed, with a 400hp twin-turbo V6, designed to tackle the MkV Supra with a proper 6-speed manual, and Barra-swapped Mustangs, then Matt makes one of his biggest takes by arguing that the General Motors LS-engine is the best engine of all time. We then talk about the new Aventador-based 6.5L V12 with electric-assist 803hp Lamborghini Countach, which we all very much like. We briefly then talk about Honda/Acura teasing a new Integra for 2022, but we don't know anything about it yet, and then we talk about the Land Rover Defender getting a big whomping V8 which will be coming to Australia.... If you have f#ck you money at $210,000 AUD. We then end on the Car World Cup, and in this week, we're in France. Sami brings hands-on impressions of the car that changes its name every other year, 2022 Toyota GR 86, followed by Benjamin's time in the unanimously great Lexus LC500, which somehow gets better after losing a core part of its structure. The pair talk about Japanese rear-wheel-drive coupes as if they're a dying breed. Wait... are they a dying breed? Then it's time to answer some (non-personal) listener questions, before going off on yet another tangent about something completely unrelated.
Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
Due to a major PC fault, this episode was extremely delayed due to not being able to edit the episode. Mitch kicks off the news with the 2022 BMW 2 Series being leaked online, and it's an interesting looking thing, then Matt gets us playing a mini game of Would You Rather with Porsche Boxters, and GT86's, which is entirely unusual for us to talk about 86's. We then talk about how in the world Joseph daily's his GT86 racecar, and then we talk about Silvias, and the exciting world of car insurance. Mitch then talks about getting booked for speeding after leaving Joseph's house after recording a podcast a few weeks ago, and then we reminisce over car related memories from our youth. Josepth then talks about Dodge news; Dodge has announced the first ever electric muscle car which will be blessed with the original Dodge logo, and the Hyunda i20N has been delayed until Octovber and will be priced from $32,990 before on roads. Mitch then talks about his self-healing wheel bearing after going through a water crossing in the Prado, and Joseph talks about his new genuine Rota's to put on his GT86 for daily driving duties and the tyres he's considering to throw on them, and Matt talks about gouging a hole in one of the tyres on his LandCruiser 105, and then we talk about taxes. We then end on the Car World Cup. Find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and at www.gearsandbeersmedia.com / www.unashamedlyunprofessional.com We have a merch shop!

The twins sports car are back with a fresh look! Happy to see the production of the Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ keep going, even if the design is not the best part of it. But good! Better than the media campaign at Volts...Volkswagen! Jokes aside, we touched on the recent acquisition of Caterham by a Japanese importer and the magnificent piece of engineerings that is the latest 911 GT3 RS with some very hardcore stress test!
On this episode of the carbitrage podcast, we discuss underwhelming sports cars of the last 30 years and rank them with a tier list, a man who built 7 miniature replica vehicles in his own back yard rivaling the quality of the type 35 minis from Bugatti, GTA online gets fiat 500s and a massive .json load fix, the GT86 gets a second generation and Toyota almost spilled the beans early. Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
We are back for episode 186 (though we say it’s 187, it’s not)! After usual bollocks, we talk about – and Mitch rants about – Subaru releasing a dual-cab ute called the Brumby, and seems like it’ll be based on the Toyota Hilux. Mitch then talk about Ferrari releasing the F171, a new 522kw ‘supercar’ powered by a hybrid V6, which is terribly sad, old man Enzo must be rolling in his grave, before talking about Ferrari making a return to LeMans in the new ‘Hypercar’ class (which replaces the LMP1 class). Matt then talks about the Australian automotive sales stats for February 2021. Then Matt goes on a bit of a rant about Volkswagen’s ridiculous SUV-focuses range, then the Range Rover and the Defender, and Matt talks about the RAM TRX (which we have already talked about, but whatever), and the new Hyundai Ioniq 5. Joseph then talks about the new Mitsubishi Express Van – which is just a rebadged Renault Traffic – being the first ever vehicle to get a zero-start ANCAP safety rating, and Mitch finally gets to talk about the new 5.0L Supercharged V8 coming to the Range Rover Defender. Then we talk about AliExpress, Mitch’s favourite website, and Joseph gives an update on how his new differential in his GT86 is going, and Matt talks about what’s being done to his LandCruiser. Jonny and Richard have a new spin-off idea for Harry Metcalfe. Two, if you count Harry’s UK Garage. Also in this episode, earning money from storing pre-reg cars, getting called a ‘silly’ by a landlord, spotting a drunk ghost working in a West Country nightclub, and that time Richard saw a blimp, a stealth bomber and Chaka Khan on the same day. Plus, top 1930s diplomat Tokyo Cedric, the Toyota Hilux Surf, Greasy Mark’s mk2 Escort van, pouring one out for the GT86, and Technics v Kenwood in the battle of the ‘90s raver bomber jackets. We look back on a handful of recent DriveNation posts on Instagram, including Andrew's review of the new base model Porsche Taycan. We also discuss Litchfield's tuning upgrades for the mighty Toyota GR Yaris, plus how the next GT86 could be improved. Tonight we have super crispy audio, suspiciously cheap engines, suspiciously expensive motors, Fortnite dances, and disappointment.
Tonight, we speculate about the most overhyped and underpowered sports car with a roof, we get mad at the Hummer EV, and Dan throws a pumpkin off the roof. Yank out that charging cable before driving off and join us, won't you?

We are back for episode 172! This week we're a bit off the rails, and start off with talking some absolute nonsense that's not relevant to anyone outside of our city. Joseph kicks off the news with the conspiracy surrounding the SSC Tuatara claimed world record, with compelling claims from large YouTubers that SSC had faked the video, and then we talk about a Russian YouTuber setting his $160,000 AMG on fire, and Toyota providing a 10 year warranty on the DPF burn off 'fixes'. Matt then asks us what out favourite Holden of all time is, before we then talk about the Hennessey VelociRaptor Ford Bronco, and then Matt asks us what our favorite car and least favorite car that has been released since we started the podcast. Mitch then talks about his progress with the #Shitegra, and Joseph talks about his thoughts behind eventually going turbo and a new present he's bought for his GT86. Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
We are back for episode 140! We're sorry it's a day late, long story. We start off this episode with talking about the maintenance/service work we've done to Mitch's Hilux (which is why this episode is late). Matt and Joseph then talk about their recent experience at VR Motorsport, who are an epic mob in south-east Queensland. We then kick into a bit of news about Holden dealers being pissed off with General Motors, and Matt gets political. Matt then talks about Rob Dahm's all-wheel-drive turbo 4-rotor RX7 finally getting onto the dyno, and BMW releasing a manual option for the 4-banger turbo Z4. We then talk about how the Toyota LandCruiser is the vehicle that is most likely to reach 300,000Km. Then Matt has a rant about being sick and tired over the rivalry between Toyota and Nissan, and the incredible increase in values of Japanese cars. Matt then brings up the BMW i4 electric touring/sedan, which has us argue about electric cars (as per usual), then talks about the Y62 Nissan Patrol and how his stance on them has changed after giving one a spin. Joseph then talks about getting the 'Traction Mod' installed onto his GT86, and he says it's made a huge difference already; then Matt cuts him off and talks about the new Hummer and an absolute abortion called the ACE 'Yewt', as well as a few other electric vehicles before Joseph gets back onto talking about the Traction Mod. Mitch then talks about some more Hardrace parts he's got for the Integra (#Shitegra). We are back with episode 127! This week, we start off by talking about Joseph coming into possession of a tub filled of Hot-4's and similar magazines from the early 2000's, and it's just brilliant. We then talk about Tesla's new CyberTruck, which Matt really likes and Mitch is indifferent. Matt then talks about Queensland Police introducing a $1000 first-offence fine for using your mobile while driving, then a possible loss of license for the second offence. Mitch then talks about his Integra, and what he's done to it/removed from it. Matt then has news about Mustang becoming its own sub-brand under Ford, and Volkswagen launching the T-Cross and T-Roc. Joseph then talks about getting the suspension on his GT86 sorted at MCA, then the other two rag on Mitch and his Integra and Hilux. Matt then talks about his LandCruiser, and what he's done to it recently to sort out the overheating issue. We are back for episode 121! This week we're once again joined by Ben from Pencil's Ballercast, and later we're joined by Michael 'Tresy' Trew, however, he just yells things from the couch. We start off talking about go-karting as we're going to Matt's bucks next weekend, before we talk a bit about the Gold Coast 600 Supercar race, with Chaz Mostert and Scott McLaughlin both binning their Mustangs in qualifying. Joseph then talks about his plans to run his GT86 in WTAC in 2021, and what'll be required for him to meet the requirements to compete, we then tangent a bit to talking about Hyundai and their foray into WTAC with the Drift Bus iMax and their actual time-attack i30N. We then actually talk about World Time Attack Challenge 2019, and the issues surrounding the Yokohama tyres that don't appear to be handling the greater and greater loads that the Pro-Class players are putting the tyres under. Matt then drops a bombshell on all of us. We then pretty much just talk absolute nonsense for the rest of the episode, so if you're into that, you'll enjoy the rest of this episode!
Can you buy a real sports car for under €30,000? Drive it! decided to find out. We tested Toyota's GT86 to see if it's a real racer or just a poser.

We are back with episode 114! It's a pretty good one this week, not gonna lie. We kick off with a bit of bollocks, before Mitch talks about how Tetsuya Tada (the bloke behind the GT86 and the Mk5 Supra [and mini-vans]) wants to partner with Porsche for the next-gen MR2 and to base it on the next-gen Cayman/Boxter chassis. Joseph then talks about Toyota and Suzuki buying bits of each other, and how Mercedes is surprised that apparently nobody wants their X-Class and their decision to kill it off. Mitch then talks about CAMS and Stadium Super Trucks getting over their differences, and Stadium Super Trucks will be returning as a supporting series with Supercars, starting with the Gold Coast 600 in October. We then talk about Supercars dropping Queensland Raceway and Philip Island from the 2020 roster. Mitch talks about the disappointing new Land Rover Defender, and how it's not a bloody Defender. Matt then talks about how the values of Alfa-Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio's are dropping hard and fast. We then play a few rounds of 'Would You Rather', before we round off with an observation from Mitch about how the type of car you drive changes how you drive. We're back for episode 98! This week, Mitchell is away in Broken Hill for work, however Matt and Joseph have roped in our good mate Alex Fitzpatrick to fill Mitch's shoes this week. Joseph kicks off the news this week, starting with news about the new Mk5 Toyota Supra, specifically the two trim levels available for Australia; base and TRD both offered with the BMW 6 cylinder. There will be no 4-banger variation in Australia. Then, Joseph talks about the new manual-only $605,000 Porsche 911 Speedster. Then the boys talk about the latest change to the Supercar Mustang at the last 'SuperNight' races in Perth. Then Matt asks what Joseph has done to his GT86 this week, specifically an update about his new Rays wheels, and Fitzy talks about his car history. Then we talk about what beer we're drinking, and once again, to the absolute surprise of literally nobody, it's Great Northern. Then Matt asks the panel for their top 5 favourite cars, and then he goes through the list of cars that didn't make it make it through our knock-out rounds with Fitzy. Then the lads argue about their favourite car brands, Mazdas, ITB's and the GT86's intake sound tube, and their favourite Australian racetracks, and their least favourite car brands. Episode Hachi-Roku, and we spend the first 10 minutes talking absolute rubbish, and Matt doing some weird ASMR stuff... Odd chap. Finally, we start talking about actual topics, starting with Joel leaving his fuel filler cap behind at the servo, and he talks about a little bit of news. The news he brings to the table is Toyota releasing a British Racing Green limited edition GT86 in Japan. Matt then asks us 2 listener questions, from listeners. The first question from Bob is asking why the Ecoboost base Mustang looks "so terrible" compared to the fully-loaded 5.0 Mustang GT. We then have a debate about Australian car buying habits, and Matt and Mitch get annoyed with Joel and Joseph having a second conversation. The second question is about whether or not each of us like car vinyl wraps or not, and we talk about painting cars and parts. Joseph then talks about some news about Subaru's hybrid E-Boxer coming in 2020, while Mitch fetches some more beer. Mitch then talks about General Motors considering leaving Australia, and handing Holden over to Inchcape; a large multinational automotive distribution company. Then we talk a bit about Toyota Celica facts. We then play Mitch's new favourite game, 'How Bout Dat'. We're back for episode 84! And this week, we are once again joined by Joel, AKA Rent-A-Crowd. We start off this week with Joel talking about his Nissan Z32 finally being on the road, and we talk about other coupes too. Mitch then talks about some news, and the first piece of news (which later turned out to not be true), is that Subaru and Toyota at the time of recording having no plans to update the BRZ or GT86, then Mitch goes on to rant about the insane prices of small, old, Suzuki 4x4's on CarSales.com.au, and Joseph talks a bit about the 'new' Series 1 Holden Monaro. Then Joel asks a question about who he should insure his Nissan Z32 through. Then Mitch talks about the Takata airbag recall, and how the last 8% of owners with affected vehicles flatly refusing in many cases of getting it fixed, and Joseph talks about his old man's Hilux and a Toyota service centre refusing to install the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) cleaning button. We have a new game! Matt has come up with a new game for us to play, which should be a regular segment for quite some time. The new game is called 'How Bout Dat'. This first round of 'How Bout Dat' has us discussing Alfa-Romeo, Audi, BMW, and Chevrolet. The 2020 Toyota Supra isn't quite here yet, but Sami spends a day on the racetrack behind the wheel of a Gazoo Racing prototype Supra at Jarama, Spain, while also piloting it through the streets of Madrid. Driven back to back against the Toyota GT86, it raises almost as many questions as it answers, and the pair go deep on what it means for a car with a history as long as the Supra to ride entirely on BMW mechanicals. Benjamin is back from the Arctic Ocean after driving the region's only permanent road to the northern shore in the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, a truck that shakes out much better than its luxury-focused GMC Sierra Denali platform-twin.
