Ben Goessling and Andrew Krammer react to Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah's yearly press conference following roster cuts. Adofo-Mensah was candid about the 2022 draft class, which saw first-round safety Lewis Cine and second-round corner Andrew Booth Jr. get sent away after just two seasons. But what does it say about the direction of this team now? And what about other roster moves at quarterback and running back?

On the latest episode of Purple & Gold 4 Days, Justin Day discussed a variety of topics related to the Vikings and their preseason performance. He began by expressing his disappointment with the lack of entertainment during the preseason games. Justin also talked about the controversy surrounding the team's interior offensive line and the criticisms of some of their recent draft picks. However, he also urged fans to be patient with these players and not jump to labeling them as busts after only a short time in the league. Justin also gave his opinion on the backup quarterback situation, stating that Nick Mullens has done enough and should not play in the final preseason game. Instead, he argued that Jaren Hall should get the starting nod and a chance to showcase his skills. Justin also touched on the performances of Andrew Booth Jr. and Lewis Cine, two of the team's recent draft picks. He argued that while they have not yet lived up to expectations, it is too early to call them busts. He also discussed the recent comments from former Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs, who expressed his discontent with his current team, the Buffalo Bills. Finally, Justin talked about some potential moves the Vikings could make to improve their roster, including the possibility of trading for running back Jonathan Taylor and signing cornerback Greedy Williams. He also reiterated his belief that the team needs to improve their interior offensive line and make a move for Dalton Risner sooner rather than later. Overall, Justin provided a detailed breakdown of the team's preseason performance and their potential moves going forward. Darren and Dave are back with another episode of Two Old Bloggers, discussing the latest news in Vikings Land. Here are the highlights from this week's episode: ### Theme #1: Preseason Winners & Losers Game 1 The Vikings played their first preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night. Darren and Dave discussed the players who stood out and those who didn't perform as well as expected. Among the winners were running back Ty Chandler and outside linebacker Luiji Vilain, who had a standout game with a sack and a forced fumble. Linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. also had a solid performance, although he had some ups and downs throughout the game. On the losing side, safety Lewis Cine missed several tackles, and corner Andrew Booth Jr. got burned on a touchdown. ### Theme #2: Kareem Hunt visits with the Vikings but why? The Vikings brought in free agent running back Kareem Hunt for a visit, although he left without signing. Dave and Darren discussed the crowded running back room and the possibility of adding Hunt to the roster. While Hunt has a track record of being a productive runner and a good pass catcher, the Vikings already have several young running backs on the roster, including Alexander Mattison, Ty Chandler, Kene Nwangwu, and DeWayne McBride. ### Theme #3: 2024 Free agent spotlight - Kirk Cousins Dave and Darren also discussed the future of Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, who is set to become a free agent in 2024. They weighed the pros and cons of re-signing Cousins to another extension and the possibility of finding a new quarterback in the draft or free agency. Overall, it was a great episode with lots of insights and analysis from two old bloggers who know their Vikings football inside and out. Tune in for more news and updates from Vikings Land. SKOL! The August 11th, 2023 episode of the Vikings Daily Opener is a must-listen for Minnesota Vikings fans. The Minnesota Vikings' preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks last night resulted in a 24-13 loss. However, there were still some positives to take away from the game. Running back Ty Chandler and wide receiver Jalen Reagor both delivered standout performances during the opening half of the game. Chandler displayed good vision and burst, with 11 carries for 41 yards and four receptions for 29 yards. Reagor caught everything thrown his way and displayed impressive hands with his four receptions for 55 yards, including one hard hit over the middle. On the other hand, certain players had disappointing showings, such as safety Lewis Cine and cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. Cine struggled with tackling, which led to him getting blown up by both blockers and ball carriers. Booth Jr. allowed a touchdown by allowing the wide receiver to get behind him in the red zone. Meanwhile, Coach Kevin O'Connell chose not to challenge a bad call on a great Jordan Addison catch. Although there was clear and obvious visual evidence that Addison got both feet down before going out of bounds, O'Connell did not see the catch and did not think there was enough opinion from anyone on the sideline to warrant a challenge. Apart from the game, the number 30 has been worn by several standout players throughout the history of the Minnesota Vikings. One of the most notable of these players is Bill Brown, who played for the Vikings from 1962 to 1974. Brown was a powerful runner with excellent receiving skills, and he was also a leader on and off the field, earning admiration for his work ethic and team-first attitude. C.J. Ham, who currently plays for the Minnesota Vikings, has also been a reliable fullback for the team since 2017 and has been instrumental in opening up running lanes for the Vikings' talented running backs. The Vikings may have lost their preseason game to the Seahawks, there were still some positives to take away from the individual performances of certain players. What do we say? SKOL VIKINGS! Happy Tuesday Vikings fans! It's August 8th, 2023, and we're just 33 days away from the Vikings' week 1 season opener. Training camp is fully underway, and Head Coach Kevin O'Connell has taken a more physical and intense approach this year to prepare the team for a more aggressive style of play. This is partly due to the team's new defensive coordinator, Brian Flores, who has installed a far-more-aggressive approach than his predecessor, Ed Donatell. Joint practices with the Titans and Cardinals pose a risk due to the increased intensity when two teams match up against each other. Injuries have also been a concern, but the team is making progress. Tight end T.J. Hockenson is back in practice, and cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. is fully participating despite injury concerns. Other segments on today's Vikings Daily Opener include updates on the team's recent transactions and player performances, a discussion on the NFC North quarterbacks, and analysis on new edge rusher Marcus Davenport. Saivion Mixson provides an analysis of the NFC North quarterbacks, with Kirk Cousins being a consistent performer but not quite elite. Jordan Love and Justin Fields are still in the early stages of their development, and it remains to be seen who will take the crown as the best quarterback in the division. Tyler Forness gives his take on the team's recent transactions and player performances, including the signings of wide receivers N'Keal Harry and Jacob Copeland. While Harry has struggled in practice, Copeland has looked explosive and could make an impact on the team. Forness also discusses the Vikings' linebacker room and how it's shaping up nicely, with Troy Dye standing out with his consistent performance and making the play of the day with an interception off of either Kirk Cousins or Nick Mullens. Finally, Andrew Buller-Russ focuses on new edge rusher Marcus Davenport, who is expected to have a breakout season as a key part of the team's 3-4 defensive scheme. Despite only tallying half a sack last season, Davenport excels at creating pressure, with a high win rate and a pressure rate that has ranked in the top 20 every year since he was drafted in 2018. He also has remarkable athleticism, with a 4.58 speed and the ability to be effective from multiple stances. Don't miss out on the latest news and insights on your Minnesota Vikings! SKOL! The 2023 season is officially underway, and we got to see some exciting action on the field during the first training camp practice. Fans got their first glimpse of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison playing together, and it's safe to say that this duo is going to be a lot of fun to watch this year. But let's focus on the cornerbacks for now. There's a lot of talent in this young cornerback room, and we're excited to see who will step up to start with Byron Murphy Jr. The competition is fierce, and this is a great opportunity for these young players to prove themselves and make an impact on the field. That remains to be seen, but we're excited to watch him play. We'll be keeping a close eye on their progress throughout training camp. Same with rookie Mekhi Blackmon, the Brian Flores selection in the draft a few months ago. And let's not forget about Jay Ward, who has shown a lot of promise and potential. Does he earn snaps at nickel? We'll have to wait and see. Finally, we'll be discussing the Andrew Thomas extension and how it relates to Christian Darrisaw. This is a hot topic among Vikings fans, and we're here to break down all the details and give you our analysis. So sit back, relax, and get ready for an exciting episode of The Real Forno Show!
