Former North Dakota State punter Ben LeCompte joins podcast host Mike McFeely to discuss a couple of Bison victories over Northern Iowa in 2015. The Panthers visit the Fargodome this weekend. LeCompte played a major role in NDSU's playoff win over UNI in 2015, big enough that he was named the game's most valuable player by national and local media.
BYU punter Ryan Rehkow addressed the media on Monday ahead of the No. 15/16 Cougars' home game against USF.
On today's show, Pat and the boys chat about last night's Thursday Night Football game between the Giants and the Football Team, and chat about how good Danny Dimes looked, but if the Giants are ultimately in trouble if they don't start winning soon, if Washington is for real and should be the favorite in the NFC East this year, and Pat and AJ Hawk look at all the different games from week 2 of the NFL slate. Joining the program is co-host of Good Morning Football, NFL Insider for FOX, co-host of the Flying Coach Podcast, and friend of the program, Peter Schrager. Pat, Peter, and AJ chat about the Thursday Night game, and what he's hearing around the league as we approach the 2nd week of the season including Za'Darius Smith going to the IR for the Packers, how he thinks the Colts are going to perform and what he knew about the Hard Knocks announcement, and what is going on at Good Morning Football (26:41-41:59). Next, Kicker and Punter for the Los Angeles Rams, one of the best tandems in the NFL, Johnny Hekker and Matt Gay join Pat and AJ to chat about this Rams team, Johnny's off season last year and what he think went wrong, whether or not they go to see if Pat has said anything about their performance after games, and more (52:03-1:04:46). Later, joining the program for another Feel Good Friday is former Independence CC Head Coach and star of season 3 & 4 of Netflix's Last Chance U, host of the SlapDick podcast, Coach Jason Brown. Pat and Jason chat about the rumors surrounding Urban Meyer to USC, who he thinks USC should hire, what other high profile coaches he could see getting fired relatively soon her, and what is pissing him off in the world of football as of late (1:05:55-1:26:19). There's a new Packers punter in town, the team quickly traded for L.A. Ram Corey Bojorquez on cutdown day. Gil and J.J. are here to react to the new 53-man roster, tell you who surprised them by making or not making the team, and to discuss the additions made at all three specialist positions as kicker JJ Molson and LS Steven Wirtel have also been signed to the practice squad. The guys also talk about the challenges the Saints have hurdled in moving the week 1 matchup with the Packers to Jacksonville, Florida, and just how much that new location might help or hurt Green Bay's chances of winning the game. On No Huddle Radio, hosts J.J. Lahey and Gil Martin give you in-depth analysis of what's happening with the Green Bay Packers. Get the latest news, injury updates and preview the next game with key matchups to look for and find out why we think the Pack will win or lose. Please send in comments and questions for the mail bag to J.J. on Twitter @jjlahey and Gil @GilPackers, or via email to AskNoHuddle@gmail.com. We love talking football and can't wait to hear from you!
Matt, Paul, and JR discuss the trade for Corey Bojorquez at length, how they called it last week, and how cool they all are for doing so. They then move on to the surprises of cutdown day, particularly on the offensive line, and in the secondary, where things look a lot like they did last season. Why is Jake Hanson still on the team? Will Hunter Bradley be on the team by the time you listen to this? Why did PFF grade the preseason line so well if Jordan Love was under pressure all the time and centers kept stepping on foots? Should they have kept maybe one special teams ace? Plus listener questions, and Paul forgetting that the season starts next weekend, not this weekend! Adjustment Series - Week 1 Add Stressors On Monday's each week throughout the season, after a weekend of watching football, I will discuss adjustments on offense, defense, and special teams as well as discussion of adding wrinkles. We will also discuss how these changes can be implemented in practice. A few seasons ago I was talking with a coach on my podcast about in-season adjustments and he made a great point that any changes during the season should be “micro” adjustments. Those would be things like an adjustment versus a certain front on offense, a variation in alignment on defense, a refinement of technique, etc. “Macro” or big changes should be saved for the off season. Those would be like changing an offensive system or installing a completely new coverage. Those take a lot of time to install and get ready for game day. So our focus is on the “micro” changes in this series. Those are the things that can give you the edge you need to stay ahead of your competition. The focus today is on adding stressors to your game plan. Offense: Procedures - One word calls for situations Movements - Shifts and Motions Easy Adjustments to Formations Coach Communication Trick Plays Defense: Best 11 on the field D-Line Movement and Maintaining Gap Integrity Engaged Tackle - The One Arm Tear Substitution communication Special Teams: Kickoff/Kick Return Quarterback as the Punter
