In the second of three straight primetime games, the Houston Texans once again fell short, this time blowing a 23-7 halftime lead to drop a home game to the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. The Texans' defense recorded five interceptions, and the offense was off to a productive start with touchdowns from Joe Mixon and John Metchie III in the first half; however, momentum stalled to start the third quarter as C.J. Stroud threw a pick on the first play of the second half. The Texans would be shut out the rest of the way, allowing the Lions to score 19 unanswered points capped by Jake Bates' 52-yard field goal as time expired to hand the Texans their third loss in four games. Matt Thomas and Ross Villarreal of "The Matt Thomas Show with Ross" recap Sunday's 26-23 defeat and discuss what can be done to fix an ailing offense ahead of a Monday Night Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the Steelers interest in wide receivers other than Brandon Aiyuk. Alan talked about his report from Monday that the Steelers have talked to the Houston Texans about John Metchie III and the Denver Broncos about Tim Patrick, and whether those moves make sense for the Steelers, given their roster crunch at wide receiver that has been made worse by special teams issues. He also talked about why Omar Khan might prefer to wait until the trade deadline to make another move if he's unable to land Aiyuk. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers made Kenny Pickett their first round pick and confirmed he was their QB1 all along. But what made Pickett so valuable to them? The answer is in the tape, and in his story as a leader at Pitt. His arm strength may be in question, but Pickett was the most accurate, the best decision maker, with the best quarterback vision and the best leadership qualities of the NFL Draft class, even over Malik Willis. The question will be if Pickett can overcome his lack of elite arm strength and/or speed, but Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert seem confident he's the guy for the Steelers' future.Meanwhile, day 2 is about to start in the NFL Draft and with quarterback out of the way, the Steelers have to get right back to work on skill players. Should they go wide receiver with players like Skyy Moore, George Pickens, Wan'Dale Robinson, Alec Pierce, Christian Watkins and John Metchie III still available? Or should they go defense with Andrew Booth Jr., Jaquan Brisker and Travis Jones still on the board?CALL INTO THE SHOW AT 412-223-6644 or if international, e-mail your audio message to LOSTEELERSTOPICBAG@GMAIL.COMFollow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques.Theme music is 'Soul Kick' by Ceddy P, and 'Too Easy' by Nerdboy.
