The Pewter Report's Jon Ledyard joins the podcast for a 30-minute dive into Giovani Bernard's prospects: Why his multifaceted game is not only a great fit with the Tampa Bay Buccaneer offense, but also why he could be more than Tom Brady's "next James White" in 2021.  Giovani Bernard is one of those NFL players whose tape has often been better than his statline. Most people forget that Giovani Bernard was one of the top 2-3 running backs in his draft class. Especially the Cincinnati Bengals. After giving Bernard a prominent role in the offense early Bernard's career, they saw Jeremy Hill as the future of the backfield. Even after that didn't pan out, Marvin Lewis and his offensive staff(s) coveted a big back. Even when Bernard was on the field and the offense had one or two standout linemen, unit as a whole has been one of Cincinnati's longstanding weaknesses. It's why colleagues like J Moyer and I have long wished for Bernard to have an opportunity to play in the Patriots' offense. Now a Buccaneer, we have gotten better. Pewter Report beat writer and NFL Draft analyst Jon Ledyard joins this 30-minute show to discuss Bernard's excellent training camp and why we could be looking at Bernard as not only part of 1-2 punch with Ronald Jones but also a better version of James White because he's a superior runner between the tackles. This is a fun deep dive on one player who is getting overlooked in what could be a historically productive offense in 2021. For the most in-depth analysis of offensive skill players available (QB, RB, WR, and TE), download the 2021  Rookie Scouting Portfolio for $21.95.   Matt's new RSP Dynasty Rankings and Two-Year Projections Package is available for $24.95 If you're a fantasy owner and interested in purchasing past publications for $9.95 each, the 2012-2020 RSPs also have a Post-Draft Add-on that's included at no additional charge.   Best yet, a percentage of each sale is set aside for a year-end donation to Darkness to Light to combat sexual abuse.

Following a one-and-done, 8-8 season as the Oakland Raiders’ head coach in 2011, Jackson had worked his way back to prominence as a highly regarded offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, only to accept the Browns’ job under false pretenses. He explains how he tried to fight back against management’s aggressive-tanking plan, took extreme measures to ensure the franchise selected Myles Garrett with the first overall pick of the 2017 draft and received a secret contract extension as an acknowledgment of his raw deal. We also talk agave rashes, Andy Dalton in Chicago, how he almost got the Cal job in 2012 and why he suspects that Baker Mayfield hates him, among other scintillating subjects.

Jason opens things up with a quick reaction to the Los Angeles Rams suffocating victory over the New England Patriots. The Patriots appear set to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008, but more importantly, the Rams look like arguably the most complete team in the NFC. In fact, you can see shades of the Kansas City Chiefs with how varied and explosive their offense is. Later, former NFL Executive of the Year and The Athletic podcast host Randy Mueller swings by to explain why he's not surprised by the Miami Dolphins' quick turnaround from last year to this year, why the authenticity of Brian Flores and Joe Judge is the biggest reason why they've been able to buck the trend of failed Bill Belichick disciples, why it's so important for the front office and the head coach to be aligned on the type of team they're trying to build - which is the biggest reason why the Cleveland Browns are thriving and the Dallas Cowboys are floundering, how Nick Saban was able to bring the best out of him as an executive when the two were together with the Dolphins, why's pessimistic that Jim Harbaugh will be back in the NFL next season but optimistic about the return of Marvin Lewis, why he's been a little surprised to see Andy Reid disciples Matt Nagy and Doug Pederson struggle so much the past seasons, why John Elway's decision not to draft Josh Allen was so shocking to him, and much more! Finally, Jason closes the show with another multi-pack edition of the Best Bet. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers
