As we close in on five years of KKHI I can honestly say I've never seen a reaction from listeners like the past week. Everyone is upset and motivated after the assassination of Charlie Kirk and we all want to do something. It's inspiring for sure. It's been mostly good news of people on the left losing their jobs after saying horrible things about this tragedy. But KU is standing by the employee that referred to Kirk as "worm food." This can't stand. Let's get busy and call 785.864.2700 or email publicaffairs@ku.edu and let them know how you feel. Mizzou and Starbucks get it right by having the exact same policy. We should consider it a win and not complain about it. Media reports indicate Xavier Worthy is likely to play Sunday night in NY against the Giants. If he does, it appears he will be playing with a torn labrum. It was a record night at Kauffman Stadium for Seattle's "Big Dumper." He broke a record set by Mickey Mantle. KC's Carter Jensen also had a huge night and this sure bodes well for the future. A single cocktail at the US Open made them enough money to pay the first place prizes for the men's and women's singles champs. Wait until you hear how much one drink made. And our Final Final is a celebrity that truly needs help with his TDS.
The Drive explained how it is looking like Jalen Royals and Xavier Worthy could be back for the Chiefs this weekend.

President Trump announces on live tv Friday morning the suspected shooter in the murder of Charlie Kirk is in custody and was turned in by a Christian Minister who had a friend in law enforcement. There are not any further details but the stories of how they identified him and the touching stories of support are everywhere. The Chiefs and Eagles are set for a Super Bowl rematch and Xavier Worthy is back on the practice field. I have a most unusual prediction for this one. The long time stadium announcer has quit his job with the Chiefs at Arrowhead because he says the Chiefs "crossed my red line." Uh oh. The Royals are all but eliminated after blowing one in Cleveland. And Lee Sterling of www.paramountsports.com is here with our point spread picks.

Rupert Murdoch has finally settled his succession plan for Fox News and other properties as it will be in control of his conservative son Lachlan. This was one crazy, bitter family feud. Kick off the week with Dynasty Nerds' risers and fallers episode, where we react to the biggest value shifts from Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season in Week 1. We highlight Javonte Williams' explosive debut with the Cowboys, which boosts his appeal for contenders. Additionally, we discuss Daniel Jones' efficient takeover with the Colts, positioning him as a sneaky QB2 buy, and Emeka Egbuka's immediate impact with the Buccaneers, scoring twice and indicating a potential WR1 trajectory. On the other side, we analyze Tua Tagovailoa's disappointing performance with the Dolphins, raising concerns about a possible blowup. We also look at Kenneth Walker's challenges with a timeshare alongside Zach Charbonnet in Seattle, and Kaleb Johnson's benching with the Steelers amid the emergence of Kenneth Gainwell and Jaylen Warren. Hosts Rich, Garret, and Jagger explore buy-low opportunities, like the potential value of post-hype Javonte Williams, concerns about panic selling Tua amid issues with Mike McDaniel, and Charbonnet's growing role in the ground-and-pound game. We also mention other players worth noting, such as Quentin Johnston's quiet rise, Dylan Sampson's PPR upside, and Isaiah Pacheco's split role with the Chiefs, which is affecting his value. Additionally, we provide injury updates on Xavier Worthy, George Kittle, Drake London, Evan Engram, Brock Bowers, and Jauan Jennings, while keeping an eye on backups like Jalen Royals, Ricky Pearsall, and RJ Harvey. It's a great week to be a Missouri Tigers fan as they rely on a couple of rock solid fundamentals to stop the Kansas Jayhawks to win the Border War revisited. The best team won but boy, oh boy, did KU have a shot in this one. The Chiefs find themselves all alone in last place as the week begins. Yes, the division we promise will be the toughest ever proved true as the Raiders and Broncos both won, too. We also update the injury status of Xavier Worthy. The Royals can't get the sweep against the Twins and fall another game back in the Wildcard race. Trump is taking Chicago with ICE but is adamant he's not at war with the city itself. Scott Bessent sets the host of Meet the Press straight. It was quite a final act by the Chinook Helicopters and their pilots the the Army Reserve in KC this weekend. Rich Eisen takes a shot at Harrison Butker and a legendary, grammy award winning rock star has died at 81.
The Chiefs find themselves in a rare place, coming off a loss to open the season. They fell to the LA Chargers in Brazil last week and on SportsBeat KC, The Star's sports podcast, the coverage team breaks down what went wrong. Beat writer Pete Sweeney and columnists Sam McDowell and Vahe Gregorian explain the problems on defense, as the Chargers built an early lead and held on to their first victory over the Chiefs since 2021. Patrick Mahomes was excellent but the Chiefs offense was dealt a major blow early in the game when wide receiver Xavier Worthy suffered a shoulder injury. We cover it all on SportsBeat KC. Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers talk NFL Week 1 Recap and much more. Munaf Manji (0:17 – 0:59) Munaf introduced the season's first weekend recap, joined by Mackenzie Rivers to break down Sunday's action and preview Monday Night Football. Mackenzie pointed out Baltimore's recurring late-game collapses: “This is the 10th 10-point lead in the Lamar Jackson, John Harbaugh era where it didn't go as planned with the fourth quarter loss.” Despite strong stats, the Ravens again fell short. Munaf described how a 15-point lead vanished after Derrick Henry's fumble. Baltimore punted on 4th-and-2, allowing Josh Allen to hit Keon Coleman for the decisive score. Jair Alexander's tackle instead of letting a TD sealed their fate. Mackenzie noted that decision flipped the odds: “As soon as he tackled him, the live line is minus 3,000 Bills.” Ravens scored 40 but defense failed again. Lamar Jackson: 14/19, 209 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs. Derrick Henry: 18 carries, 169 yards, 2 TDs. Zay Flowers: 7 catches, 143 yards, 1 TD. Josh Allen: 394 total yards, 4 TDs, pushing his MVP odds to +350. Favorites went 11-1 Sunday; unders dominated. Mackenzie used line shifts to grade upgrades: Jaguars, Chargers, Raiders, and Packers. Munaf praised Justin Herbert's performance, Travis Etienne's 143 rushing yards, and Green Bay's defensive dominance. Teams falling: Miami — Daniel Jones looked like “Peyton Jones,” posting 272 yards, 3 total TDs vs. their broken defense. Chiefs — WR injuries (Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice suspended) leave them thin. Giants & Panthers also slipped. Bengals downgraded slightly after Joe Burrow's 113-yard outing; Chase (26 yards) and Higgins (33) were quiet. Jaguars vs. Bengals line movement suggests value on Jacksonville. Bills heavy favorites vs. Jets. 49ers injuries: George Kittle (hamstring), Jauan Jennings (shoulder). Christian McCaffrey still posted 130 yards. Brock Purdy showed poise despite 2 INTs. Bears: New coach Ben Johnson looks to revive Chicago. Vikings: Rookie J.J. McCarthy makes his first start with Jefferson returning and Thielen rejoining. Mackenzie leaned to the under, citing Brian Flores' exotic blitz packages. Munaf backed the Bears +1.5, doubting McCarthy's readiness. Player Props: Munaf: Aaron Jones over 18.5 receiving yards, with nine straight games clearing that vs. Chicago. Mackenzie: J.J. McCarthy under passing yards, expecting a conservative plan. The hosts promoted Pregame.com with promo code “WINNING25,” praised their debut recap, and noted both started 3-0 in Survivor contests. They promised weekly updates with upgrades, downgrades, betting edges, and contest talk. ✅ Key Themes: Ravens' defense undermines elite offensive stats. Week 1 unders and favorites dominate. Chargers, Jaguars, Raiders, Packers upgraded; Dolphins, Chiefs, Bengals downgraded. Betting value: Jaguars vs. Bengals, Bears vs. Vikings under. Player props spotlight Aaron Jones and J.J. McCarthy.
