Bryan Weaver, founder and executive director of Hoops Sagrado, and Nate Wallace, creator and co-host of the podcast Redspin Sports, joined Political Misfits to discuss Covid forfeits and labor rights in the NFL, the way sports are coopted to carry jingoistic and nationalistic messages, and the importance of these ephemeral means of human expression.Recorded and aired live on Radio Sputnik in Washington D.C. on Wednesday: December 2, 2020.https://www.patreon.com/redspinsports@RedspinSports (Twitter & IG) @NateWallace9 (Twitter) @BrotherFlourish (Twitter)https://www.facebook.com/RedspinSports/Checkout Redspin Sports on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and iHeart Radio.Follow "Redspin Sports on Spreaker or wherever you listen to podcasts. https://www.spreaker.com/show/redspin...Note: in case you can't tell lol, this is an ironic thumbnail of the NFL's 2020 summed up in this poster promoting -bitter rivals- Baltimore & Pittsburgh's unprecedented Hump Day afternoon kickoff -rather than its scheduled Thanksgiving NBC primetime slot. Quick Commentary: the best critique of the NFL pressing ahead in spite of the pandemic is the injustice of rapid Covid-19 testing's -extraordinarily inconsistent- availability to the public, while the NFL is using up a staggering amount of available resources just to enable the games to go on. It's really a perfect illustration of the ever proliferating wealth gap in the U.S., and the worsening economic and social fragmentation that ensues as a direct result of neoliberal bipartisan consensus.Checkout "Political Misfits" on Radio Sputnik Monday-Friday between Noon & 2 p.m.(EST). Here's more info on Michelle & Bob's great work & their amazing show."Political Misfits brings you news, politics and culture ‒ without the red and blue treatment. Thanksgiving Football is one of Colin's most favorite day for football and this year we have some really average games being played on Turkey Day. What insights and advice do the duo have for this week? Give us a listen and be amazed!*This was recorded before the NFL's decision to move the Baltimore-Pittsburgh game to Sunday.*
The Boys go over the 3 Thanksgiving games Houston @ Detroit, Washington @ Dallas, Baltimore @ Pittsburgh plus MNF (Seattle @ Philadelphia), SNF (Chicago @ Green Bay) and Chiefs @ Bucs.
For a three-game slate, Thanksgiving presents us with a number of solid cash game options. We've got Watson holding it down at quarterback, Zeke and (hopefully) Swift at running back, and a number of reasonable receivers between Pittsburgh, Houston, and even Washington. We're keeping an eye on the Baltimore/Pittsburgh game to make sure it goes, of course, but it doesn't look like a bad slate all things considered. Sunday's slate is actually fairly robust as well, since there are no more byes for the rest of the season. We have two strong quarterback options in Josh Allen and Kyler Murray, with a little Taysom Hill if we wind up needing some savings on DraftKings. Running back is probably the most difficult position to break down at this point, with Salvon Ahmed being the only truly exciting option available at this point. We're hoping to be able to run Kalen Ballage, but we need to keep an eye on the potential Austin Ekeler return. Wide receiver is very deep this week, if a bit expensive. It will be tough to decide between Keenan Allen, Stefon Diggs, and Tyreek Hill - and it's going to be tough to pay for all three of them. All in all there is much to discuss, so don't miss the DFSR boys breaking it all down! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
