Are you truly ready for the Bridegroom, or are you assuming you will have time to get ready later? In this episode, Heather Sudbrock takes you deep into the Parable of the Ten Virgins and asks the question many believers avoid: do you actually have oil, or are you trying to borrow readiness from someone else? This conversation is about spiritual preparation, sanctification, and the cost of being ready when the Bridegroom comes. The wise virgins were not called wise because they had lamps. All ten had lamps. They were wise because they had enough oil. They had prepared before the moment of delay, before the midnight cry, before the door was shut. Heather walks through the sobering difference between the wise and foolish virgins and what this parable reveals about half-hearted faith, delayed obedience, and the danger of assuming proximity to the Kingdom is the same as being prepared for it. This episode will challenge you to examine whether your faith is casual, borrowed, emotional, or truly surrendered. It is a call to stop waiting until the last minute to seek God, stop living on the fumes of past encounters, and stop assuming you can prepare later for what God is calling you to obey now. You will be invited to consider the cost of discipleship, the necessity of sanctification, and the eternal weight of the choices you are making in this life. This is not a soft message. It is a warning, a call to readiness, and an invitation to return to total devotion before the door is shut. Ryan Michler breaks down what it truly means for a man to be "safe" in a relationship - and why most men get it wrong. Drawing from his own failed marriage, he explains how emotional volatility, inconsistency, and lack of self-mastery can erode trust at home. Ryan challenges the idea that safety equals weakness, arguing instead that it's rooted in strength, discipline, and control. He outlines practical ways men can become more grounded, reliable, and առաջնորդ-driven - through emotional regulation, clear personal standards, accountability, and presence. This episode is a direct, no-excuses call for men to lead themselves first so they can better lead and protect their families. In this episode of Facts Over Feelings on the 9Innings Podcast, the conversation reframes estate planning as preparation for life's unexpected moments not just death. The focus shifts to the documents that actually matter when things go wrong such as durable and medical power of attorney, highlighting that 60 to 70 percent of Americans still don't have proper planning in place. The episode also addresses the growing criticism from attorneys around the use of technology platforms, making it clear that these tools are not replacing legal professionals but expanding access for those who have been priced out for far too long. The reality is simple. Technology and advisors are helping fill a massive gap, giving more families the ability to put something in place and avoid unnecessary chaos when it matters most. In this episode of The Dish on Health IT, Tony Schueth is joined by Dr. Thomas Keane, National Coordinator for Health IT at ONC, along with Alix Goss and Janice Reese. The conversation moves between policy, standards, and real-world implementation, with Tony often grounding the discussion in the practical friction points the industry continues to face. Tony opens by noting that “ONC is ONC again,” setting a lighter tone while also framing the broader conversation around where federal health IT policy is headed. He highlights Dr. Keane's unusual background spanning engineering, clinical practice, and federal leadership, asking how that path shaped his perspective on impact. Dr. Keane explains that his transition into policy was driven by exposure and opportunity, but importantly, he continues to practice medicine. Tony picks up on that point, noting how rare it is for a National Coordinator to still be actively practicing, reinforcing the value of having a policy leader grounded in real-world care delivery. Interoperability at the “Speed of Trust” Tony then shifts the conversation to one of his core themes: interoperability as infrastructure. He references Dr. Keane's framing of interoperability needing to operate at the “speed of trust,” and pushes on the tension between that vision and the reality of legacy systems still dominating the market. Dr. Keane responds by walking through ONC's dual-track approach. On one hand, rulemaking like HTI-5 is pushing toward a FHIR-based, API-driven future. On the other, ONC recognizes that legacy standards are deeply embedded and must continue to be supported. He also points to the CMS Health Tech Ecosystem initiative as a powerful example of how government can accelerate progress by convening stakeholders rather than relying solely on regulation. Tony brings Janice Reese into the discussion to ground this vision in implementation reality. Janice emphasizes that the biggest barriers are not the APIs themselves, but the underlying trust infrastructure. She outlines identity, security, consent, and directory services as the key gaps preventing interoperability from scaling nationally. Imaging as a Case Study in Misaligned Incentives Tony pivots to diagnostic imaging, framing it as a clear example where standards exist but adoption lags. He references the continued reliance on physical media like CDs and asks whether the issue is less about technology and more about incentives and certification. Dr. Keane agrees and shares a detailed example from his time as a radiologist, describing how consolidating imaging workflows improved efficiency and reduced turnaround times. He uses this to illustrate the broader point: the technology exists, but economic and operational incentives often work against seamless data exchange. He also notes that ONC's recent RFI is intended to better understand these barriers and inform future rulemaking. Tony keeps the tone light with a quick aside about McDonald's and queue efficiency, but uses it to reinforce a serious point. Even when better systems exist, organizations sometimes stick with less efficient models because they are familiar or expected. Prior Authorization: Progress, but Still Fragmented Tony then moves into prior authorization, referencing CMS-0057 and Da Vinci use cases as signs of progress, particularly on the medical side. He contrasts that with the ongoing fragmentation in pharmacy prior authorization and asks how ONC is thinking about bridging that gap. Dr. Keane emphasizes that standards alone are not enough. Real progress depends on making those standards usable in practice. He points to ongoing work with EHR vendors, PBMs, and intermediaries to ensure that real-time prescription benefit tools deliver complete and accurate information that clinicians can trust. Tony and Alix build on this by connecting real-time benefit checks to broader price transparency efforts, suggesting that combining these capabilities could fundamentally change how patients and providers make decisions together at the point of care. Price Transparency: Still Not Patient-Friendly Tony directly challenges the current state of price transparency, asking how the industry moves beyond “check-the-box” compliance to delivering something that is actually usable for patients. Dr. Keane acknowledges that while progress has been made, much of the data remains too complex and not sufficiently tailored to individual patients. He notes that CMS continues to iterate on requirements, but that making cost information actionable at the point of care remains an ongoing challenge. AI: From Hype to Real Utility Tony transitions to AI with a callback to a joke Dr. Keane made about AI either transforming healthcare or reducing it to three bullet points. He uses that setup to ask whether AI can realistically make complex healthcare data usable for patients and clinicians. Dr. Keane answers with a firm yes, pointing to existing use cases in radiology and clinical workflows where AI is already improving accuracy and efficiency. He shares examples of AI identifying stroke patterns, highlighting abnormalities in imaging, and even summarizing clinical reports. Tony then brings the conversation back to risk, asking about overreliance on AI and how policy should address bias and accountability. Dr. Keane is clear that responsibility still sits with the clinician, noting that physicians are trained to recognize bias and must independently validate AI-driven insights. Janice and Alix add that AI's success ultimately depends on the quality and standardization of the underlying data. Without consistent, trusted data, AI will simply amplify existing gaps. Information Blocking and Enforcement Tony closes the main discussion by turning to information blocking, asking what message ONC has for organizations that continue to restrict data access under the guise of technical or legal constraints. Dr. Keane outlines a range of enforcement mechanisms, from corrective action plans to potential financial penalties. He emphasizes that while ONC prefers to work with organizations to resolve issues, the expectation is clear: data must flow. Final Call to Action: Data Liquidity As always, Tony ends with a call-to-action question. If there were one thing the industry could do starting tomorrow, what would it be? Dr. Keane's answer is direct: make data liquid. He ties this back to reducing administrative burden, improving price transparency, and enabling better patient decision-making. The goal is a system where data flows seamlessly, at the direction of the patient, to support care and operations. Janice and Alix close by reinforcing that the industry does not lack standards or policy direction. The real challenge is aligning stakeholders and scaling adoption.

AI, the End of the World, and the Future of Christian Men Artificial Intelligence: The New Tower of Babel or Just a Tool? What happens when machines start doing everything better than men? Jobs disappear. Creativity shifts. Even sermons can be generated in seconds. Some are calling AI the new Tower of Babel. Others say it’s just another tool like the internet or the printing press. So what should Christian men actually think? In this episode, Pastor Joseph Spurgeon sits down with software engineer Josh Dawes to cut through the hype, the fear, and the propaganda surrounding artificial intelligence. They tackle the real dangers, the false alarms, and how men can use this technology without being ruled by it. This is about dominion, responsibility, and refusing to become passive in a machine-driven world. It’s advanced pattern recognition, not a soul. The real danger is not machines becoming human, but men becoming passive. Used wrongly, AI will weaken you. Used rightly, it can sharpen you. Creativity is not dead, but it is changing fast. Pastors and leaders must never outsource the work God called them to do. This is a dominion issue. Men either rule tools or get ruled by them. Community Food Box Project: Mutual Aid, Food Insecurity, and Food Apartheid Host Chris Whonsetler continues a conversation about community and commensality, connecting his lack of personal experience with food insecurity to the need to keep community needs front-of-mind. Guest Sierra Nuckols, an Indianapolis native, explains how her upbringing and interest in gardening led her to food justice work, including partnerships with urban growers and community gardens. She describes food apartheid as the historically rooted, racialized and class-based system behind “food deserts,” noting how food desert maps mirror redlining patterns. Sierra outlines the Community Food Box Project (under Cultivate Indy), emphasizing 24/7 access, easy-open high-protein donations, and biweekly volunteer meetups, plus plans for a live box-status map and upcoming March 7 fundraiser. They discuss donating regularly, attending local policy meetings, and simple habits like buying an extra item each grocery trip. In this episode of Everyday Conversations on Race, host Simma Lieberman welcomes Verna Williams, CEO of Equal Justice Works, former law professor, and former dean, for a powerful conversation about race, justice, and access to legal representation in America. Verna explains why race remains a necessary topic—not to assign personal blame, but to understand how systems shaped by slavery and segregation continue to influence opportunity and social hierarchy today. She reflects on growing up in the Washington, DC and Maryland area, attending both predominantly white and predominantly Black schools. Those experiences sharpened her awareness of being "different" and highlighted how segregated many of our lives still are. Even today, she encounters moments when someone tells her she is the first Black person they've had a meaningful conversation with—evidence of how separation persists. As CEO of Equal Justice Works—the nation's largest postgraduate public-interest legal fellowship program—Verna works to address a staggering reality: 92% of low-income people's civil legal needs go unmet. She explains how civil legal problems such as eviction, wage garnishment, loss of benefits, and family instability create economic insecurity and can even lead to involvement in the criminal legal system. Unlike criminal cases, there is no guaranteed right to counsel in high-stakes civil matters, leaving millions to navigate life-altering situations alone. Verna describes how Equal Justice Works partners with law firms, corporations, and foundations to fund fellowships that send lawyers into underserved communities. She highlights the organization's Disaster Resilience Program, created after Hurricane Katrina, which helps communities navigate FEMA claims, insurance issues, document replacement, and preparedness planning. She also shares her personal journey—from broadcast journalism to law—motivated by fairness and shaped by the civil rights and women's rights movements. Her career has included work on voting rights, women's rights, veterans' benefits, and debt collection reform. She also argued—and won—a 5–4 U.S. Supreme Court case establishing that schools must address known student-on-student sexual harassment under Title IX. The conversation explores immigration representation, reports of ICE detentions at court hearings, and practical ways non-lawyers can help—through translation, court accompaniment, and local volunteer efforts. Verna encourages listeners to stay informed through reputable sources, vote, and engage locally in school boards and city councils. She also shares personal reflections on music and film—and clarifies her role as Michelle Obama's oral historian during the early White House years, after the two were law school classmates. This episode connects race, law, and economic justice—and offers clear examples of how everyday engagement can strengthen democracy. In this Friday Field Notes episode, Ryan Michler delivers a direct and uncompromising message: success never happens by accident. He challenges listeners to confront the ways they may be drifting through life, reacting to circumstances rather than intentionally leading themselves. Ryan explores how comfort, avoidance, and distraction quietly compound into years of lost potential, and contrasts that with the strength and freedom created through discipline, structure, and brotherhood. This episode calls men to choose hardship on purpose, define their standards, and begin taking directional action immediately instead of waiting for motivation to arrive.
