Jesus is the ultimate example of how we should pray, especially for overcoming grief. In those moments of grief and depression, sorrow, anxiety, and doubt, Jesus' prayer in the garden of Gethsemane teaches us key aspects of prayer. Tune in with me as I point out the specific actions Jesus took during intercessory prayer and how we should model the Lord's prayer over our sorrows. Experience peace and joy even in the darkest of times by going before God with your honest heart.Â
From the Old to the New Testament, we are given thousands of illustrations of prayer, but we also see action to go along with those prayers. Prayer is not only a means of asking for help or expressing gratitude, but it's an opportunity and a first step to work alongside the Father in creating change. Think about how much differently the Bible would look like if Nehemiah, Ester, the apostles, and Jesus prayed but never acted upon those prayers. Prayer grounds us, positions us to listen, and strengthens us for the work laid before us. Tune in as I give you my personal example of how I had to be an active participant in the things I was praying for. We've got to pray, but then move our feet!
Most people have heard that 'Agape' means 'God's unconditional love,' Is that true, or just another "preacher myth?" Today we discuss the nature of God's love for His people - does He love all unconditionally? The biblical answer is somewhat complicated...

Both Adonijah and Joab grab the horns of the altar in a desperate attempt to save their lives from King Solomon. This act only saves one of them - did Joab do something wrong, or was he trusting in the wrong thing to save him? Today we discuss how to be saved by grabbing the real and spiritual altar, as well as the dangers of trusting in external religious acts like going to church, listening to sermons, and taking the Lord's Supper.

In Jeremiah 3, God condemns the pretense of the people of Judah. They pretended to be sorrowful for their sins, and pretended to want to follow God, but it was an all act - a grand display of outward religion, that was meaningless on the inside. Today we discuss what real repentance does - and does not - look like.

A most curious and perplexing incident happens in Matthew 8. Jesus is confronted by a supernaturally powerful demoniac, who is possessed by multiple demons. These demons immediately recognize Jesus, acknowledge His power, exhibit fear of Him, and BEG to be cast into a nearby herd of pigs, rather than be destroyed or exiled into the abyss. Astonishingly, Jesus COMPLIES...WHY?!
