2 Corin. 9: 1-15. "God Loves a Cheerful Giver." If you are blessed by today's Bible study, please support my channel by liking, subscribing, commenting, and sharing with your friends and family! I am not a Pastor, and agree with God's word that women are not supposed to be Pastors. However, all people are called to share the gospel. It is perfectly acceptable and Biblical for women to lead Bibles studies outside the church as an ancillary addition to the church, and especially if it is a viable avenue for study of the Word on a daily basis, like I'm doing on this show, and paving the way for all of us to be closer to the Lord and become more knowledgeable of the Bible. I know, my God, that you test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. (1 Chronicles 29:17). Glory to God!
We live in a world that tells us to hold tight to what we have—save more, secure more, insure more. But Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 9 that God’s economy works differently. In God’s kingdom, open hands don’t lead to emptiness—they lead to fullness. Generosity is not about losing; it’s about sowing. And when we sow generously, God promises to supply all grace, meet every need, and multiply eternal fruit. Paul anchors this truth in Scripture itself, quoting Psalm 112 to remind us that the righteous have always been marked by open-handed giving. And at the very center of it all stands Christ, God’s inexpressible gift to us.
This is the September 21st sermon from the First United Methodist Church in Decatur, Texas. This sermon is taken from 2 Corinthians 9:6-15.
Today, we place our focus on what God calls us, not on what other people say about us, or what we think of ourselves, but how God views us. God has called us to Himself. We find our purpose in Him alone and without Him we are powerless. Today, we explore the writings from Isaiah and we will examine how God helps us.
In this special message from Providence Church, Afshin Ziafat returns to 2 Corinthians 9 to challenge and encourage our church family toward cheerful, sacrificial giving as we approach Commitment Sunday on September 21.Afshin reminds us that our generosity flows not from guilt or pressure, but from a clear view of God's abundant grace and provision. God doesn't just call us to give—He calls us to give joyfully, trusting in His sufficiency. Through this initiative, we have the opportunity to invest in reaching the next generation, expanding gospel impact, and leaving a legacy of faith.
Two very different men who had nothing in common with two exceptions...both were rich and both were "Outsiders". One man a National hero--the other a traitor, both needed something only Jesus could give them. What we will notice today is the path to redemption, healing and restoration is different for each of us.
Today, we examine the giving nature of God. We also examine how God teaches us to give. We look at three things that God does to teach us how to give and how the Lord will Test us, teach us to Trust Him and how HE touches us which changes our perspective and how we go about giving.

St. Paul's heartfelt appeal for generosity to support the saints in Jerusalem is far from a high-pressure fundraising pitch. Instead, the Apostle paints a vivid picture of gospel-driven generosity, emphasizing joy, freedom, and abundance rooted in God's overflowing grace. In this episode, discover how cheerful giving is intertwined with confidence in the gospel, as Paul encourages believers to give not out of obligation, but as an opportunity to express love toward their neighbor and faith and trust toward God. The Rev. David Boisclair, senior pastor at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Overland, MO, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study 2 Corinthians 9. To learn more about Our Reedeemer, visit ourredeemerstl.org. What does it mean to follow Christ in weakness? What does true ministry look like in the face of criticism, suffering, and spiritual warfare? And how can the Church hold fast to the Gospel when pressured by the world—and even by false teachers within? On Thy Strong Word, we walk verse by verse through, arguably, the apostle Paul's most personal, emotional, and paradoxical letter: 2 Corinthians. From forgiveness and reconciliation to generous giving and boasting only in the Lord, 2 Corinthians calls every believer to follow Christ boldly. This is the way of the cross, where God's grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in you. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. Your words were found and I ate them
Money is a touchy subject, but money is needed for the existence of the Church. We need goods. We need to give. We must. When we give everything to God, everything is God's. And that includes our bank accounts.Serving God with our money starts in the same place that serving God in any capacity does. Our PrioritiesWealth is not evil. The love of wealth is evil.Signs that you have a healthy relationship with money:1) Your decision-making process when it comes to spending starts with prayer and thoughtful consideration.2) You are a good steward of what's been entrusted to you. You can't give to God what you have to give to a debtor.3) You give from a place of love not a compulsion.4) You have found contentment in the right things.
Each of us has been given a spiritual gift to use in elevating and supporting other saints. I'm not even sure it has to be known to be used, but it's a mistake to think you don't have one. This week we discuss how we use those things to improve the family of God.God in his abundant grace, has gifted you with the ability to serve your brothers and sisters in Christ. As we use our gifts, it must always be in the service of others, viewing people in the same light as we do our gifts, equals.John Doe came to know Jesus because Jane Doe was willing to take out the trash. The aim of our spiritual gifts is to love others.

All of us have been blessed with abilities that not everyone has. How can we use those talents to serve God? By using them to serve others. You were uniquely created and gifted to serve others. As important as having talent is the willingness to use it in the service of God and the education of others. Our service bears witness to gifts instilled in us by the Father and it brings Him glory.
From the series "2 Corinthians: A Letter to the People of God," Trent Senske preaches from 2 Corinthians chapters 8-9 on January 19, 2025.
We are called to be good stewards of all God has given us. It starts with 168 hours a week. Take away 56 hours for sleep. That's 112 hours remaining. How we steward our time is extremely important.Seeking first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness is about viewing all choices through his character and trusting the outcome of the decision that is made. Being mission minded with our time leads us to be kingdom focused with our priorities. Recognizing that our time is precious and understanding its value should give us a desire to spend it wisely. Using our time wisely is ensuring that we are prepared when the opportunity to be missional arrives so that we never miss the chance to show others the love of Christ. Service, Witness, Encouragement, Life Change.A pitcher does not refill itself but must be topped off to find itself useful again.
From the series "2 Corinthians: A Letter to the People of God," Pastor Andrew Peterson preaches from 2 Corinthians chapters 8:1-15 on January 12, 2025.
Before we can give anything to God, we must give everything to God. A cheerful giver doesn't give out of compulsion, but out of their love for Christ. He must have all of us.Before we can give anything to God, we must give everything to God.Discipleship comes at a cost. The cost of our discipleship is whatever belongs to our earthly nature. What is anything compared to the gift that is Christ Jesus? All good things outside of Christ aren't good. Why Missions? To be an expression of God's love to the world around us. Being missional comes down to giving the totality of ourselves.
2 Corinthians Chapter 8-9 - Faith & Works: - God Loveth A Cheerful Giver by Shawn Ozbun
In Acts 22, Paul's testimony falls on hostile Roman ears, and he narrowly escapes scourging by way of his Roman citizenship. Reflecting on this incident, Fr. Mike reminds us that God uses Paul's past to further his ministry, and that God does the same with each of us, today. Commenting on today's readings from 2 Corinthians, Fr. Mike highlights that we are called to be cheerful givers and disciplined thinkers. He also points out that, as Paul reminds us, the most important ministry credential is to be called by God and equipped by his grace. Today's readings are Acts 22, 2 Corinthians 9-11, and Proverbs 29:5-7. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. In Part Two of the "Grace Giving" lesson from the "Growing Up and Getting Along: Lessons from 2nd Corinthians"series, Pastor James D. Gailliard continues exploring 2 Corinthians 8 and 9. This session dives deeper into the principles of biblical generosity, emphasizing the blessings of cheerful giving and trusting God as the ultimate provider. Pastor Gailliard unpacks how grace giving reflects God's character, strengthens our faith, and builds thriving communities. Learn how giving with the right heart aligns us with God's purposes and brings joy to both the giver and the receiver.
God loves a cheerful giver. I believe this is because God himself is a giver. God loves to give. Every blessing we have is because God has given them to us. When we give with joy we are being like God.Main Points:1. God blesses those who give. He said if we give sparingly, meaning in a small amount, we will receive a small blessing, but if we give generously, the blessing will be generous.2. Paul goes on to teach us that giving is personal. It is between each person and God. We should give what the Lord puts on our hearts to give. We should be obedient to the Lord in this area. We should not give reluctantly and feel that we are under compulsion or forced to do so. 3. Paul is not teaching us a so-called “prosperity doctrine.” This does not teach us we should give so we can get more for ourselves. We become cheerful givers when we realize that everything we are and everything we have is because of the grace of God. Today's Scripture Verses:2 Corinthians 9:6-8. He said, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group
