In our second episode of 2025, Ben, Mark, and Dan continue to work through the listener questions we received in our 2024 AMA. We begin with home country biases and how to continue to grow your money from an already diversified portfolio before comparing the benefits of stock trading strategies and EFT portfolio strategies. Then, we discuss the impact of volatile blockchains on the wider securities market, whether you need to adjust your investment strategy when new tariffs are imposed, the ins and outs of terminal wealth management, the benefits of focusing on a total market index, and the personal finance perspective of renting versus buying in Canada. To end, we explore the best practices for increasing risk exposure, take a closer look at FIRE (financial impendence, retire early), assess investing behavioural biases and misconceptions that still pose a threat to even literate investors, and learn about how the Rational Reminder podcast is changing the lives of our listeners. Junseth is an OG Bitcoiner and the former co-host of Bitcoin Uncensored. In this wide ranging interview, we discuss Bitcoin volatility and it's repetitive cycles, the ossification of the Bitcoin protocol and the current state of development, Bitcoin anonymity and privacy, the profitability of mining, and Bitcoin's future as an alternative to traditional money in a world of global collapse. - - - - Bitcoin's development over the past 14 years has been both phenomenal and revelatory. Apart from Hal Finney, nobody saw its significant influence on the energy sector. Furthermore, nobody foresaw the impact of ordinals. That's why, as we contemplate the potential for Bitcoin to enter a new and significant bull market cycle, questions as to what Bitcoin is and will become are as fascinating as at any time since its launch in January 2009. The debates over the protocol's conservative development are as impassioned as ever. Questions over the persistence of Bitcoin's price cycles continue to produce significant amounts of content. The complex challenges of maintaining privacy, and the associated misconceptions of average users, endure. The resilient strength of the mining industry never ceases to amaze. However, the bigger picture is still focused on the singular issue of the basic right to transact. The traditional notion of currency control places the state as the arbiter of money. Yet, the past decade has witnessed central banks exerting ever greater control of financial systems and the weaponisation of money by the state. Bitcoin was designed as a vital alternative as trust in traditional processes erodes. Given its power to disintermediate powerful centralised institutions, the primary concern of Bitcoiners is whether governments will seek to control, limit or ban it. Bitcoiners believe that the state's regulation of money should be limited, allowing individuals to freely hold and transact any form of currency. Further, these rights should be codified into a Second Amendment right to hold Bitcoin. We're back to the cypherpunk philosophy: freedom to transact is freedom of speech.   This episode's sponsors: Iris Energy - Bitcoin Mining. How it strengthens American democracy. And what it will take for Bitcoin to change the world. Finally, Junseth took some excellent questions from the crowd. He covered economic degeneracy, Bitcoin's limitations, how Bitcoin supports democracy and American values, and whether we should be hodling or spending Bitcoin. “Any of these external effects like the fact that mining is good for attaching to an energy infrastructure, the fact that anything is useful as a result of Bitcoin, comes from the fact that Bitcoin is nothing interesting. It just contained value, that's it. All things flow from that.”— JunsethJunseth is an OG Bitcoiner and the former co-host of Bitcoin Uncensored. In this interview, we discuss how the early days of Bitcoin mirror the issues we're seeing in the ecosystem today: over leverage, unsustainable returns, greed and excessive confidence that the party won't end.- - - - The contagion in the DeFi market over the past few months has seemed unprecedented. Major companies wiped out. Investors rekt. Confidence turned to panic. Commentators have been declaring that the recent events are an existential crisis: this time Bitcoin is really dead.As one of the OG Bitcoiners, Junseth was part of the initial wave who eulogized and expanded on what the innovation could possibly mean for the world before the world had heard of Bitcoin. Then, between 2015-2017, he hosted the uncompromising podcast Bitcoin Uncensored, with Chris DeRose. They exposed false promises and scams prevalent in the space.Past is, as they say, prologue. And the past events that triggered the development of Bitcoin, and its early days, rhyme with the present.Junseth connects the over-leverage within traditional finance, which was the predicate for Satoshi's message in the genesis block, with the excessive confidence and greed that has been the root of the cascading collapse of DeFi companies. In turn, the untenable yields prevalent within the altcoin markets were a practice employed by scammers working with Bitcoin nearly a decade ago. What are the important lessons to learn? Humans are creatures of habit: scams and greed will always follow the money. But, is the more important lesson that the unnecessary complexity of the grift that develops diverts from the principle simplicity of Bitcoin? Is the innovation of digital value the singular utility? Will those motivated by greed, therefore, miss the real purpose of Bitcoin? Should we instead follow the actions of those motivated by need?- - - - This episode's sponsors:Gemini - Buy Bitcoin instantlyLedn - Financial services for Bitcoin hodlersBitcasino - The Future of Gaming is herePacific Bitcoin - Bitcoin‑only event, Nov 10 & 11, 2022Ledger - State of the art Bitcoin hardware walletCompass Mining - Bitcoin mining & hostingCake Wallet - Open-source, privacy-focused Bitcoin walletBCB Group - Global digital financial Services-----WBD541 - Show Notes-----If you enjoy The What Bitcoin Did Podcast you can help support the show by doing the following:Become a Patron and get access to shows early or help contributeMake a tip:Bitcoin: 3FiC6w7eb3dkcaNHMAnj39ANTAkv8Ufi2SQR Codes: BitcoinIf you do send a tip then please email me so that I can say thank youSubscribe on iTunes | Spotify | Stitcher | SoundCloud | YouTube | Deezer | TuneIn | RSS FeedLeave a review on iTunesShare the show and episodes with your friends and familySubscribe to the newsletter on my websiteFollow me on Twitter Personal | Twitter Podcast | Instagram | Medium | YouTubeIf you are interested in sponsoring the show, you can read more about that here or please feel free to drop me an email to discuss options.

Junseth is an OG Bitcoiner and the former co-host of Bitcoin Uncensored. In this interview, we discuss how the early days of Bitcoin mirror the issues we're seeing in the ecosystem today: over leverage, unsustainable returns, greed and excessive confidence that the party won't end. - - - - The contagion in the DeFi market over the past few months has seemed unprecedented. Major companies wiped out. Investors rekt. Confidence turned to panic. Commentators have been declaring that the recent events are an existential crisis: this time Bitcoin is really dead. As one of the OG Bitcoiners, Junseth was part of the initial wave who eulogized and expanded on what the innovation could possibly mean for the world before the world had heard of Bitcoin. Then, between 2015-2017, he hosted the uncompromising podcast Bitcoin Uncensored, with Chris DeRose. They exposed false promises and scams prevalent in the space. Past is, as they say, prologue. And the past events that triggered the development of Bitcoin, and its early days, rhyme with the present. Junseth connects the over-leverage within traditional finance, which was the predicate for Satoshi's message in the genesis block, with the excessive confidence and greed that has been the root of the cascading collapse of DeFi companies. Should we instead follow the actions of those motivated by need?

“I don't understand the moral position of absolute freedom, and the reason is because, when I hear people talk about it, it's very obvious to me that absolutely everybody knows that there are limits to freedom, so absolute freedom is not something that anybody believes in.”— JunsethJunseth is a OG bitcoiner and the former co-host of Bitcoin Uncensored. In this interview, we discuss government being the logical extent of libertarianism, the evolution of news media, falling for conspiracies, admitting when you're wrong, opinion versus fact, and the return of Trump. - - - - Our lives are full of examples of infective institutions, inefficient governance, waste, want, and an eagerness to wage war. It is hard to argue in defence of the state. Yet, any popular movements against the actions of the state are ignored. In these times, libertarian arguments are powerful and persuasive: the state, shielded by coercion, is ineffective so we need to tear it down. However, we don't need to be fans of the state to be worried about the alternatives. In a world of 8 billion people, with increasing complexity, specialisation, and disagreement, is it rational to think that we can organise ourselves into voluntary and agreeable groups? What if Bitcoin wasn't the future? What if one Florida man was sent here to save us all from our hard earned money and to free of us of our earthly desires to be wealthy through the graces of pumpamentals? Well we have another Florida man (Bitcoin Uncensored dumbest host and male counterpart, Chris DeRose) to tell us about this. We talk about many things, including Richard Heart's incredibly brilliant scam "Hex" as well as Cardano, ZCash, Ripple and even Ethereum. Are they scams? We will let you, the 16-year-old avid crypto investor, decide on whether your parents money gets lost this year. What's up party people! So, this is a short and hopefully sweet Soundcloud episode. So, let's get to it! As you've no doubt noticed, there's not a lot going on in my Soundcloud space. It seems that soundcloud is dying, and perhaps even, that its end is near. This has been announced before, and it's possible that this time will not be substantially different than the last. But, nonetheless, I feel foreced to excersize some prudence here to prevent us from having the wool pulled out underneath us unexpectedly. As you all know, I've been spending time in the last few months trying to figure out what's the best direction for the show going forward, and I think my testing is virtually complete. So here's the plan. Let's first talk about BU. I've copied all this soundcloud content over to libsyn. You can access it via podcast.chrisderose.com. So if and when soundcloud goes dark, you can find this archive, in full, at that address. From there, I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that I'm being forced to rebrand. I really, really, really wanted to keep the show called Bitcoin Uncensored. But without going into a lot of detail, it seems that a handful of sour individuals are really commited to preventing that name from growing. That being said, I thought that keeping bitcoin uncensored was fairly important to people, but it seems that most people are ok with dropping the brand. That surprised me, but pleasently. So, that's the bad news. Now for the good news: Not much else is changing. The show is going to rebrand to "DeRose Uncensored", with a focus on delivering a "Joe Rogan but with the bitcoin" type content. So, if you like the long form format, you're going to be happy with that direction. Many of you in the soundcloud community have made it clear: you want unedited raw audio content. So, I'm making the audio format the primary focus for content going forward. I'll still be doing the youtube, but youtube will serve as a platform for short edited versions of the audio feed. So with that, I'm announcing the new podcast feed is available on my patreon. My tests were a big success, and so I'm committed to growing the platform. I've been producing about two shows a week since this soundcloud was last updated, and I've got about four or five long-form episodes up there right now. I think Patreon will allow the show to grow in a way that brings money in the door to grow, and continue making bigger and better content. And if you're listening this far through, you're probably going to benefit the most from this direction. . Why not head over to patreon and create an account? It doesn't take very long, and if you sign up today, you'll have a bunch of content already waiting for you, with lots more on the way. I have the FULL and UNEDITED weev interview up, as well as a one and a half hour talk with a prominent dnm guy - plus plenty more content that's not published anywhere else. So, that's the update, tell me what you think, and come on over to patreon.com/derose for even more of the content you've come to love here on Soundcloud. Later party people!

My name is Rob Mitchell, and it's hard to believe this is my 40th episode of The Bitcoin Game. I was a fan of Let's Talk Bitcoinfrom day one, since it launched right after I got into Bitcoin. I reached out to Adam B. Levine early on, and worked with the LTB Network in various capacities. During that time, I recorded a number of interviews that weren't quite publishable, for one reason or another. But after attending a Bitcoin Job Fair, I eventually collected enough solid content to release my first episode of The Bitcoin Game on October 15, 2014. A bit under 20 episodes per year isn't so bad, is it? Regular listeners are aware that my releases have been less frequent in 2016. So I felt extra pressure to do something special for my year-end, 40th episode. I sent messages to over 100 cryptocurrency enthusiasts, inviting them to record a holiday or new year greeting. I made suggestions, such as reviewing 2016 or making predictions for 2017, but I tried to make it open-ended. I ended up with submissions from 26 people who in some cases represent very divergent viewpoints. It's a jam packed, ad-free show; I hope you enjoy! Oh, before I forget… I want to propose that on January 3rd, the 8th anniversary of Bitcoin's genesis block, every cryptocurrency aficionado take a day to chill on the arguing, so we get a sense of what it's like to be a huge, cohesive group. Can you go so far as to find someone you typically take issue with, and compliment them on something you genuinely value about that person? I'm just asking for one day a year. Who's with me?
