We sat down with Pavel Bains, the co-founder of Bluzelle - the decentralized database for the new internet. The world of crypto combined everything he was interested in - economics, finance, science fiction, distributed computing - causing him to dive headfirst down the rabbit hole and create Bluzelle. Bains explained the crypto ecosystem, touched on the wild west of NFT's (for those who are still trying to grasp the basics), and revealed how the world of gaming will completely transform people's understanding of cryptocurrency. It's safe to say that Pavel Bains pulled us down the crypto rabbit hole...
Digital currency (digital money, electronic money or electronic currency) is any currency, money, or money-like asset that is primarily managed, stored or exchanged on digital computer systems, especially over the internet. Types of digital currencies include cryptocurrency, virtual currency and central bank digital currency. Digital currency may be recorded on a distributed database on the internet, a centralized electronic computer database owned by a company or bank, within digital files or even on a stored-value card.[1]Digital currencies exhibit properties similar to traditional currencies, but generally do not have a physical form, unlike currencies with printed banknotes or minted coins. This lack of physical form allows nearly instantaneous transactions over the internet and removes the cost associated with distributing notes and coins. Usually not issued by a governmental body, virtual currencies are not considered a legal tender and they enable ownership transfer across governmental borders.[2]These types of currencies may be used to buy physical goods and services, but may also be restricted to certain communities such as for use inside an online game.[3]Digital money can either be centralized, where there is a central point of control over the money supply (for instance, a bank), or decentralized, where the control over the money supply is predetermined or agreed upon democratically.
Here's how it all works. Crypto refers to the various encryption algorithms and cryptographic techniques that safeguard these entries, such as elliptical curve encryption, public-private key pairs, and hashing functions. Cryptocurrencies, on the other hand, are systems that allow for secure payments online which are denominated in virtual tokens. These tokens are represented by ledger entries internal to the system. These crypto-assets often serve as the transaction units on the blockchains that are created using the standard templates like that of the Ethereum network that allows a user to create tokens.Such blockchains work on the concept of smart contracts or decentralized applications, where the programmable, self-executing code is used to process and manage the various transactions that occur on the blockchain. For example, you can have a crypto token that represents a certain number of customer loyalty points on a blockchain that is used to manage such details for a retail chain. There can be another crypto token that gives entitlement to the token holder to view 10 hours of streaming content on a video-sharing blockchain. Another crypto token may even represent other cryptocurrencies, such as a crypto token being equal to 15 bitcoins on a particular blockchain. Such crypto tokens are tradable and transferrable among the various participants of the blockchain.Crypto tokens are a type of cryptocurrency that represents an asset or specific use and resides on their blockchain.Tokens can be used for investment purposes, to store value, or to make purchases.Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies used to facilitate transactions (making and receiving payments) along the blockchain.Altcoins and crypto tokens are types of cryptocurrencies with different functions.Created through an initial coin offering, crypto tokens are often used to raise funds for crowd sales

Pavel Bains is the CEO of Bluzelle Networks, which builds blockchain and distributed ledger solutions for the finance industry. The last time we spoke was on episode 426 in January after Bluzelle successfully closed a $19.5m ICO. After hearing about the launch of its decentralized database testnet and how they have attracted over 1000 developers, 30+ blockchain integrations including Qtum, Icon & Wanchain as well as a JD.com collaboration, Chinese e-commerce giant that is the third biggest tech company in the world by revenue, I felt a catchup chat was long overdue. “A new data economy is emerging and Bluzelle is at the forefront of helping businesses and individuals to fully control and monetize their data in this revolutionary new world. The number of decentralized projects and dApp developers that are using the Bluzelle ecosystem right now is testament to this,” said Pavel Bains, CEO of Bluzelle. “Everyone thinks of Facebook, Instagram, Google and Twitter as free but they are not. We are paying with our personal data but recent headlines show how companies are monetizing, manipulating and mishandling our data. For blockchain projects and decentralized developers that want to change this, Bluzelle is shifting the power and control back to individuals and businesses, who are the rightful owners of the data,” he concluded. Bluzelle has already started building this “new data economy”, which has the Bluzelle decentralized database at its core. This manages and stores data across a network of nodes around the world, enabling a level of security, reliability, and scalability that the major cloud providers can’t match.
In this episode, Ben and Jay meet up with Neeraj Murarka, CTO and co-founder of Bluzelle, a high-security decentralized and scalable database, to explore trends and what's happening in the data management space. Neeraj delves into the meaning of Bluzelle's motto, "You are the Database," and details the advantages and differences between a traditional "centralized" database versus a decentralized database. Neeraj breaks down the value of a "key value pair" database, and goes into detail on the impact of immutability with respect to blockchains and how a decentralized database differs, as well as why a blockchain is impractical for use as general purpose data storage. Neeraj describes the differences between "farmers" and "miners" within cryptocurrency, and discusses the ways Bluzelle enables individuals to be farmers, as well as explaining Bluzelle's "Karma Initiative" to drive on-chain governance from producers. Ben and Neeraj explore the future potential of home devices, such as gaming systems or cell phones, for use within a decentralized database storage system. Neeraj wraps the discussion talking about Bluzelle's hackathon and the Canadian government's support of cryptocurrency as well as the ways they actively enable the growth of the industry.
The fourth employee of an acquired blockchain startup - Zero Block, Neeraj Muraka is one of the founders of Bluzelle. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Bluzelle fills a key gap in decentralized infrastructure, offering a database for applications that are built on blockchain technology — the data needs to be stored and organized somehow, and there’s no point using dated technology to do so. Bluzelle's technology has already been used to streamline the otherwise-painful Know Your Customer process for a consortium of global banks, including HSBC. The KYC solution leveraged Ethereum to enable the banks to reduce the time and cost of on-boarding customers, sharing customer data in a secure manner, and facilitate ease of customer data management. Once on-boarded, a customer’s entire profile is encrypted and stored securely and permanently in the blockchain, using a proprietary multi-party key encryption protocol that enables banks to “own” their customer's private data. Data can only be shared with other banks as specifically authorized by the customer. Pavel Bains, CEO & founder of Bluzelle shares the enormous potential for a decentralised database solution.
Welcome to Announcements with Host No. 3, Dr. Corey Petty, a show that provides you details on current events, upcoming projects in the blockchain space, and token offering details. Today we talk with Pavel Bains from Bluezelle. Bluzelle combines the sharing economy with the token economy - renting individuals' computer storage space to earn tokens while dApp developers use tokens to have their dApp's data stored and managed.
Bluzelle CEO Pavel Bains likes to make the complicated seem uncomplicated, as when he describes blockchain as simply an “authentication and verification of data between parties that inherently might not trust each other.” But he might be on to something. These days, threats like money laundering and terrorism have banks and regulatory agencies nervous. Identity Management and KYC have become costly in both time and resources when banks and insurance companies onboard new customers. As regulations increase, so do non-compliance penalties and other complications. But Bains believes the solution is as simple as leveraging blockchain technology (even as financial institutions have been slow to adopt it despite widespread interest). After listening to Pavel Bains give his perspective, you hope he's right in his prediction of how soon this could be implemented. Bains also discusses: * When a blockchain is not really a blockchain * How a 9/11 Thought Experiment can explain why more and more companies have become willing to undergo the process of costly compliance, particularly with access to the “Golden Truth” * Two reasons why he discounts a Big Brother-type of threat * What clients really want from Bluzelle * At the very end, his prediction on how blockchain will impact your kids and grandkids' insurance policies Make sure to subscribe, review and stay tuned to Future Tech Podcast for more on Future Tech news.
