The argument over our Corrections Minister's looking through rose tinted glasses continues, as the organisation begins to run out of new money. A $98million boost in this year's Budget was expected to last until June, when the population was projected to hit 10,800 - but that milestone is already nearly met. Despite this, Corrections Minister Mark Mitchell says there's no looming crisis. Corrections Association President Floyd du Plessis told Mike Hosking says this is a rosy version of the truth as staff are well and truly short. New data from Corrections, reveals more than 3,000 gang members and associates make up the just over 10,000 sentenced and remand prisoners. It equates to about a third of the country's estimated gang population. Corrections Association President Floyd du Plessis says the chances of rehabilitation for these inmates is low. He says it needs to be possible for prisons to separate people, based on their intentions to turn their lives around. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The UFC's middleweight division is in a fascinating place right now. Khamzat Chimaev is the brand new middleweight champion after dominating Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319, which has shaken up the MMA Fighting pound-for-pound rankings. With four contenders vying for the chance to face Chimaev in his first title defense, who has the best chance to get it done? On an all-new edition of the MMA Fighting Rankings Show, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Jed Meshew step in for Alexander K. Lee in the hosting chair to discuss all of the changes going on in the rankings since we last spoke — including the madness at middleweight, Chimaev's rise and du Plessis' fall down the pound-for-pound rankings, and ranking who has the best shot to beat Chimaev in Nassourdine Imavov, Caio Borralho, Reinier de Riddder, and Anthony Hernandez. Additionally, they discuss where Brian Ortega now goes after a terrible week at UFC Shanghai, changes in the featherweight rankings, and who could make a low-key leap up the rankings by the end of the year. 22.08.25 Pt 1 - Gareth Cliff and Leigh-Ann Mol open the show by tackling the strange silence of President Cyril Ramaphosa, who seems to have gone missing in action while the country faces crisis after crisis. Their conversation takes a sharp turn into international politics, as they debate Donald Trump's rise to “rockstar” status and what that means for global leadership. Clinical psychologist Dr Hanan Bushkin joins the discussion alongside Ben Karpinski to unpack the worrying reality of South African schools — where classrooms are starting to resemble battlegrounds instead of safe learning spaces. The team wrap things up with a heated sports report, as Ben breaks down the frustration of South African fans following Dricus du Plessis' tough loss, and yet another defeat to Australia that has left local supporters feeling bruised. Following UFC 319, Khamzat Chimaev is the brand new UFC middleweight champion after delivering a lopsided victory against Dricus du Plessis in the main event. While Chimaev was in full control for 99 percent of the bout, the performance has garnered from groans from UFC fans and the MMA community. He done did it. Khamzat Chimaev basically pitched a perfect game against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319, making it look EASY en route to one of the more lopsided decision wins you will ever witness in a championship fight. DDP showed up looking uniquely ill-equipped to stop Chimaev's all-out takedown assault. And Ya Boi Borz? He looked so dominant people got mad at him for not doing more. So, now that the long-heralded Chimaev Era is finally underway at 185 pounds ... shouldn't we be more excited? Plus, how does Michael Page keep doing this? And where are we at with Aaron Pico now? Also, what do you get when you cross one of light heavyweight's most dangerous knockout artists with the guy who routinely gets knocked out in the funniest possible way? You get UFC Fight Night: Johnny Walker vs. Zhang Mingyang. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

UFC star Conor McGregor hasn't competed in over four years, but with the former two-division champ officially back in the testing pool, does that enhance the belief that the sport's biggest star ever will actually compete inside the octagon in 2026? Additionally, topics may include Tatsuro Taira destroying Hyun Sung Park in the main event of UFC Vegas 108 and the Fight of the Year contenders that preceded that contest, the countdown heating up ahead of the UFC 319 main event between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev, the UFC being back at the APEX once again this Saturday for UFC Vegas 109 headlined by Anthony Hernandez vs. Roman Dolidze, and much more. Luke Thomas is back from vacation and ready to chop it up with his best friend Brian Campbell on a Morning Kombat Monday! Reinier de Ridder scored a split decision victory over Robert Whittaker in the UFC Abu Dhabi main event. With that win, does he rate as next for the winner of UFC 319's main event between champion Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev? Petr Yan looked incredible against Marcus McGhee at UFC Abu Dhabi. With three wins in a row, he has to be the consensus next man up after Merab Dvalishvili vs. Corey Sandhagen. That said, is there any reason to think a fight with either Dvalishvili or Sandhagen would look any different in a rematch? UFC 319 finally has a co-main event as featherweights Aaron Pico and Lerone Murphy square off, likely for title shot implications. This will also serve as Pico's UFC debut. Do you like this fight at all or as a Pico debut? LT, BC and the MK crew discuss these topics and much more!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
