The Corrections union insists corrupt staffers are few and far between, and some are even forced to go down the wrong path. 14 staff from Mt Eden and Auckland South Corrections facilities have been arrested. A dozen are charged with accepting bribes, and others with conspiring to supply a Class A drug —namely methamphetamine— to prisoners. Corrections Association President Floyd du Plessis told Mike Hosking it's not the norm, but in the past, some staff have been coerced by people who monitor their behaviour and learn about their personal lives. He says in the past, staff have even had people turn up at their house and intimidate them, and have succumbed to that pressure. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Everyone's talking about the male loneliness epidemic. But after six years of hosting this show and seven years of coaching women through their friendship issues, Danielle has noticed something that doesn't get nearly enough attention: men's friendship struggles don't stay contained. They spill over: into your energy, your guilt, your decisions about who you spend time with, and how much of yourself you actually have left to give your own friends. When men are disconnected from one another, women bear the burden. In this episode, Danielle walks through three specific ways she's seen this play out, both in the research and across hundreds of coaching sessions. You'll also hear directly from 4 different listeners who submitted voice notes about what they're experiencing. She also shares clips from her conversation with researcher Sherrie Xue, whose study on men avoiding "date-like" activities with their male friends went viral for a reason.
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This is one of the wildest comeback stories you'll hear in boxing. In this episode, I sit down with Jarred Silverman — a man who has lived multiple lives inside and outside the ring. From fighting for a title to facing death, from prison for a second time to rebuilding himself through boxing, this is a story that hits hard on every level. Silverman opens up about: His controversial comeback and the battles no one saw behind the scenes Fighting his way back into title contention when many had written him off A near-death experience that changed his perspective forever Returning to prison — and how he used boxing to survive inside Teaching inmates how to fight as a way to earn respect and stay alive Why, despite everything, he still chooses to step back into the ring We also get into his mindset today, the hunger that still drives him, and his desire to settle unfinished business — including a potential showdown with SD Pypers, the close friend of Dricus du Plessis. This is not just a boxing interview. It's a raw, unfiltered look at resilience, consequences, redemption, and the fight to keep going when life keeps hitting back.

Today’s Topics: 1) Gospel – Mk 4:1-20 – On another occasion, Jesus began to teach by the sea. A very large crowd gathered around Him so that He got into a boat on the sea and sat down. And the whole crowd was beside the sea on land. And He taught them at length in parables, and in the course of His instruction He said to them, “Hear this! A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Other seed fell on rocky ground where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep. And when the sun rose, it was scorched and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it and it produced no grain. And some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit. It came up and grew and yielded thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.” He added, “Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.” And when He was alone, those present along with the Twelve questioned Him about the parables. He answered them, “The mystery of the Kingdom of God has been granted to you. But to those outside everything comes in parables, so that they may look and see but not perceive, and hear and listen but not understand, in order that they may not be converted and be forgiven.” Jesus said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? Then how will you understand any of the parables? The sower sows the word. These are the ones on the path where the word is sown. As soon as they hear, Satan comes at once and takes away the word sown in them. And these are the ones sown on rocky ground who, when they hear the word, receive it at once with joy. But they have no roots; they last only for a time. Then when tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Those sown among thorns are another sort. They are the people who hear the word, but worldly anxiety, the lure of riches, and the craving for other things intrude and choke the word, and it bears no fruit. But those sown on rich soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit thirty and sixty and a hundredfold.” Memorial of Saint Francis de Sales, Bishop and Doctor of the Church Saint Francis, pray for us! 2, 3) Father Robert Nixon on his translation of Cardinal Armand Jean du Plessis’ (Cardinal Richelieu) writings in Treatise of Perfection (TAN Books) 4) Catholic convert says same-sex attracted people need to hear “the hard truth” https://catholicvote.org/catholic-convert-says-same-sex-attracted-people-need-to-hear-the-hard-truth/
This week, we welcome World Cup winner - and one of the most feared front-rowers in rugby history - Bismarck du Plessis! He also reflects on his special bond with his brother Jannie du Plessis, as well as his fiercely competitive nature with his kids: “I don't let them beat me.” 00:00 –
