Interior Designer's Business Blueprint   In today's episode, I sat down with the very talented, warm, smart, and creative, Britt Davis of Art & Adorn in Charlotesville Virginia. Britt is mother to 4 kids, she's an artist, interior designer, event planner, and retreat host at her farm - Glentivar Farm. Twice a year she and her best friend Molly Crouch who you can find in this episode host a day-long retreat for women called Tonic and Bloom. The retreat is a day of pause and reflection where guests can enjoy a variety of "tonics" such as exploring the farm, reading, resting, soaking in the pool, making art, and getting a massage. All while being fed delish farm fresh food prepared by Britt and Molly's husbands.   I asked Britt to join me this month specifically as we are celebrating Mental Health Awareness month. Britt and I discuss mental health, navigating life as an Enneagram 7, building an interior design and event business, all while raising kids.   There is a brief discussion of suicide which may be distressing or triggering for some individuals. Kelly Britt Davis works in a rural health care facility in Blue River, Oregon. After navigating the first six months months of Covid, the clinic burned to the ground in the Holiday Farm Fire, a wild fire that consumed 175,000 acres and more than 500 structures at the end of Labor Day weekend.Our interview started by talking about the wild fire and moved on to address issues mental health, addiction, loss and recovery.At 15:10, a hummingbird landed on Kelly's microphone and she said, "That's my mom."Fair warning, that Kelly talks openly about her past challenges with mental health and the times she tried to take her own life. Britt has been working in professional sports and entertainment in Atlanta since 2015, most recently as a Digital Media Manger with AMB Sports+Entertainment. She also co-founded the LCKR ROOM with Kaila "KP" Pettis - a creative content platform and unique collective of personalities connected through design, culture and sports. As part of their passion for service, their time, talent, and resources are used to fund community programs and educational opportunities that bring awareness and access to creative careers. The goal being to uplift the next generation of creative minds and elevate minority owned and operated businesses.

F.C., Mercedes-Benz Stadium, joined the show to discuss her quick climb to being one of sports design's most notable designers. Her story begins with a creative childhood, supportive family and an undergraduate degree at NC State in industrial design; which, due to my own curiosity about industrial design leads to a conversation about our shared interest in sneakers, as well as how design, even though it has many disciplines, has very similar principles that translate well to one another. A 6-year stint as a marketing designer at UNC Charlotte eventually influenced Britt to obtain a graduate design degree from SCAD; which led to an internship at Viacom's SpikeTV, a repositioning of her work as a sports designer, a mentorship with Todd Radom and a senior thesis honoring the 100th anniversary of baseball's Negro Leagues called "Heritage on the Move") We reminisce about one of our first interactions together as Britt voluntarily experienced an intimidating critique environment at an Irish pub in Columbia, Ga. while attending Creative South, where some of sports design's top designers discussed her thesis project and offered feedback on her sketches for Heritage on the Move.
