Our guest today has made great waves through the world of reality television. He's worked as a Senior Producer for Fox's Season 1 of Farmer Wants a Wife as well as helped create shows such as Holely Moley and The Real Love Boat. Jannik had the pleasure to work side by side with Nick on Farmer Wants a Wife and found out just how much creativity pours out of this man. We knew that we needed to get Nick on the podcast to share his origin and his progress as he gets himself closer in making an Emmy Award Winning tv show. Even though Nick technically is Jannik and Hayden's boss's boss, he is a great friend to have a chat with and is full of mentor worthy words of wisdom. Enjoy!

There is perhaps no better way to end Makers of Sport's podcast then to provide what may be the most inspiring story in its history. Ali Rahmoun—3-D Designer, Creative Director, and Founder of Sports Templates, a digital asset company whose products are used by #smsports creatives in the NBA, NFL, NHL, and more—joined the show in 2021 to share his inspiring story. A native of Syria, Ali discovered the Internet in a war-torn, Isis-occupied country and began teaching himself graphic and web design as a teenager there. Initially, he fell in love with interacive Flash websites and frequented the niche platforms millennial creatives often found ourselves on during that time such as DeviantArt, Dribbble, and Behance. Overcoming many hardships, including once having to power his computer via a truck battery due power outages from war so he could meet the deadline of a client, Ali developed a strong instinct to learn under intense circumstances and persevere. His eventual passion for creative entrepreneurship eventually led to him creating Sports Templates, an online marketplace creating and selling 3-D assets as Photoshop templates such as uniforms, athletics courts and fields, sports equipment, digital apparel, and other items. Listen along as we discuss Ali's story, content marketing, the state of design tools, the importance of learning how to learn, 3-D's future in this new era of design, and much more. Hosting and producing this show has been a tremendous blessing and I've been able to meet many amazing people and lifelong friends. For now, the show must end due to numerous life cirumstances and other priorities. Maybe this is for forever, maybe not. I truly don't know. But, I do plan to keep tweeting and hope to evolve MoS into something that is still useful for the sports design community as it has done so much for me both personally and professionally. I sincerely thank you for the support over the years. Believe in him (Believe that he died, was buried, and raised from the dead) The Bible says that as soon as we put out faith and trust in Jesus, God will forgive our sin and give us eternal life. Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Time is short, accept Jesus Christ now! Carl Contino dreamed of being Steve Austin, the 6 Million Dollar Man....but pursuing his passion had challenges. He also dreamed to be like George Benson, practicing 12 hours a day to be the world's greatest guitarist. But he struggled with stuttering and stammering and that plagued him. The glitches caught up with him. He developed methods to help you unleash your genius. Hear his story about "burying the beat" with Pink's drummer. It's priceless.

Buon ascolto.P.S. Today's author interview guest is Kristin Contino, author of A House Full of Windsor. Spanning from 1980s...
In Kristin Contino's contemporary novel, A House full of Windsor, divorced mother Debbie has such an obsession of the British Royal Family to the point that her hoarding of Royal knickknacks leads her grown children to go to desperate measures. Their form of intervention: convincing her to partake in a reality television show that helps hoarders confront the underlying issues of their mania. By juxtaposing Debbie's voice with that of her eldest daughter Sarah, Contino reveals the underlying sorrow about a young, hasty marriage and its overriding affects on Sarah and her siblings. Through a heartfelt and humorous plot, all the players find a way to heal, move forward, and in the case of the novel's two heroines, find the love that has eluded them. Kristin and I discuss how she came up with the book's plot, her own love of all things British, and how she found the inspiration to revisit this story after having set it aside.

Paul Contino’s Catholic reading of Dostoevsky’s final masterwork, premised on the novel’s “powerful capacity to inspire readers to be better people”, follows hero Alyosha Karamazov’s spiritual maturation as a “monk in the world”, his ministry to his brothers, and his ultimate message of hope. In Dostoevsky's Incarnational Realism: Finding Christ among the Karamazovs (Cascade Books, 2020), Contino argues that Alyosha exemplifies incarnational realism – a theologically-informed way of life in which the human being apprehends reality in the light of Christ’s incarnation and acts upon it – in his relationships with those around him, resisting totalization in favor off attentiveness to the particularities of human experience. In this interview we discuss the theological underpinnings of Dostoevsky’s narrative, the relationship between characters Alyosha and The Idiot’s Prince Myshkin as two attempts to portray Christian love in action, the recurring problem of theodicy in Dostoevsky’s oeuvre, squaring Dostoevsky’s criticism of Catholicism with a Catholic reading of his novel, teaching The Brothers Karamazov, and reading Dostoevsky counter-culturally.
