In this week's episode, we start by diving into one of the biggest endurance stories of the year: Rachel Entrekin's historic overall win and course record at Cocodona 250, using it as a springboard to discuss confidence, self-belief, fueling, and the evolving landscape of women's sport. We unpack the mental strategies behind big performances, including Rachel's “why not you” mantra, and reflect on how visibility in sport can inspire the next generation. Katie also shares the realities of returning to racing postpartum, the barriers new moms still face in endurance sport, and how she's pushing for better accessibility and support at races. Finally, we close with a practical deep dive on fatigue in endurance athletes: low energy availability, RED-S, bloodwork, cortisol, ferritin, fueling mistakes, and how to actually troubleshoot persistent fatigue when something feels off. Have you ever wondered, “Am I the only one who feels this overwhelmed?” Or quietly questioned if you’re doing any of this motherhood thing “right”? In this week’s episode of The Love Offering Podcast, I had the sweetest conversation with Andrea Fortenberry—author of Two Minute Timeouts for New Moms—and I think her words will feel like a deep breath for your soul. Andrea gently reminds us that motherhood is both beautiful and hard. From the sleepless newborn days to the bittersweet seasons of letting go, every stage carries its own mix of joy and stretching. And yet, in all of it, you are not alone—and you were never meant to do this on your own. We talked about:• Why so many moms feel overwhelmed and isolated (and the truth that sets us free)• How pride can quietly keep us from asking for the help we truly need• Letting go of perfectionism and embracing “good enough” motherhood• Finding meaningful moments with God—even in the middle of a full, busy day• Releasing mom guilt and receiving God’s grace for yourself One of my favorite reminders from our conversation is this: God knows your season. He sees the late nights, the messy middle, the quiet prayers whispered in the bathroom, and He meets you right there with love and grace. If your heart feels a little tired or stretched thin, I pray this episode encourages you to pause, breathe, and remember that you are doing better than you think. And if a friend comes to mind who might need this encouragement too, would you share it with her? Sometimes the smallest encouragement can make the biggest difference. You are deeply loved, friend, and what you’re doing matters more than you know. → Prayer CalendarThere's a moment every young mom hits (usually sometime around 2 AM) where exhaustion meets confusion, and the question quietly surfaces: “Am I doing this right?”Sleep training can feel like one of the most overwhelming parts of early motherhood, especially when advice pulls you in opposite directions. In this episode, we slows things down and reframe everything through a grace-centered lens, reminding moms that the goal isn't perfection, but peace, wisdom, and responsiveness to the child God has uniquely entrusted to them. Rather than offering a rigid formula, we'll gently walk you through a bigger picture: understanding your baby's cues, embracing the natural rhythms of growth and change, and letting go of pressure to “get it right.”Episode Highlights00:00 — Life updates and why sleep training is worth revisiting05:00 — What people really think about sleep training (and why it's confusing)15:00 — Learning your baby's cues and building simple rhythms20:00 — Why writing things down changes everything30:00 — Handling disruptions: regressions, teething, and tough nights40:00 — Encouragement, Scripture, and trusting God with your childPlease send us your questions if you'd like to have them discussed on the podcast: themindofachildpodcast@gmail.com The Mind of a Child is an early child development podcast that exists to encourage and equip parents to raise their kids to love God and love others. NA'ALEH YOGA: Yoga Nidra Journeys for Deep Rest Close Your Eyes and Stay Awake... In this episode, I am delighted to chat with Shaina Hammer, a birth doula and licensed clinical social worker, about what it really means to prepare for birth and postpartum in a way that supports your nervous system, mental health, and optimizes your rest. We explore how practices like yoga nidra, meditation, hypnobirthing and self-care can help you feel more grounded during pregnancy, support early labor, and ease the transition into postpartum. Shaina shares thoughtful insights from both the therapy room and the birth space, including how postpartum depression can go unnoticed, how birth trauma can be gently healed, and why having compassionate, nonjudgmental support can make such a difference. Whether you're pregnant, newly postpartum, supporting a loved one, or working in the birth or mental health world, this episode offers grounded wisdom, practical tools, and a sense of being deeply understood. The Barbell Mamas Podcast | Pregnancy, Postpartum, Pelvic Health
Leaks under a heavy deadlift, pressure during a ruck, or a sudden urge mid-sprint can derail training—and confidence. We go straight at the myths and mechanics behind pelvic floor symptoms in athletes and service members, unpacking how high load, high speed, and high fatigue interact with hormones, recovery, and technique. Christina Prebbitt, pelvic floor physical therapist and researcher, shares a candid journey from national-level weightlifter to clinician advocating for stronger, smarter training through pregnancy and postpartum. We break down the pelvic floor's role in continence, sexual function, and trunk stability, then connect it to real-world demands: impact landings, belts and bracing, long days with limited sanitation, heavy kits, and sleep debt. You'll learn the difference between weakness, poor coordination, and high tone—and why each needs a different plan. Expect clear cues for bracing without bearing down, practical positions to reduce tension, and evidence-backed strategies to raise thresholds without pushing through symptoms. We also confront stigma and silence, outlining simple referral questions and a trauma-informed lens that respects lived experiences across the force. On pregnancy and postpartum, we replace fear-based rules with individualized progressions. New research on women who kept lifting heavy shows lower complication rates and no “exercise triggers labor” effect, while Canada's new postpartum guidelines endorse early return to activity based on symptoms and goals. Translation: no more blanket bans—coach mechanics, watch thresholds, and build capacity. If moderate to vigorous training flares leaks or pressure, get a pelvic PT screen; otherwise, movement is medicine for body and mood.Subscribe for science you can use, share this with a teammate or coach who needs better cues, and leave a review with the one training change you'll make this week.___________________________________________________________________________Don't miss out on any of the TEA coming out of the Barbell Mamas by subscribing to our newsletter You can also follow us on Instagram and YouTube for all the up-to-date information you need about pelvic health and female athletes. WORT 89.9FM Madison · One Man Stalled Healthcare Expansion for New Moms Currently, Wisconsin and Arkansas are the only two states that have not expanded healthcare coverage for new moms. On today's show, host Dana Pellebon speaks with ProPublica reporter, Megan O'Matz, about her investigation into Robin Vos's rejection of postpartum Medicaid expansion in Wisconsin. Even though there is bipartisan support in the Wisconsin legislature to expand Medicaid coverage for up to a year for low-income new moms, Robin Vos has blocked a bill that would do just that. O'Matz reports that Vos broke with other anti-abortion members of his party and that this decision is timed with the overturning of Roe v. Wade. She calls it hypocritical not to give new moms healthcare past two months and claim you're “pro-life” because the early months after birth are a vulnerable period when parents often need ongoing medication and treatment. O'Matz also tracks the influence of business interests on Vos's decision, including the Uihlein family's financial contributions to the Republican Assembly Campaign Committee. They also talk about O'Matz's most recent article on Sen. Ron Johnson's support of a discredited Wisconsin doctor whose new book on chlorine dioxide–a bleaching agent used as a disinfectant and deodorizer–spreads misinformation. Sen. Johnson has written a blurb on the book's dust jacket and has joined the doctor on panels on vaccine skepticism even though chlorine dioxide is not a drug or a medicine approved for therapeutic use. O'Matz says that we're in a place where people don't trust the CDC and that studies cited in Dr. Kory's book are not scientifically rigorous. O'Matz says that she got her start in Florida, where open records laws support journalists' work of keeping elected officials accountable. However the newspaper industry has been contracting over the years due to influence from media conglomerates. She's now with ProPublica, a nonprofit, independent newsroom that seeks to deliver a level of accountability to readers by reporting on how people with power use it. They rely on open records, data, and fact checking to foster reader trust. Megan O'Matz is a ProPublica reporter covering issues in Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest. She has been with ProPublica since 2021 and writes about voting processes in Wisconsin, a swing state, as well as stories about family court, prosecutorial blunders and predatory lending. She has also worked at the South Florida Sun Sentinel. She and her colleagues were finalists for the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for stories about widespread fraud in federal disaster aid programs after a series of devastating hurricanes. She also shared in the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for reporting on the failures of school administrators and police officers in connection with the Parkland school shooting.
