Church Is A Family | Spiritual Authority: Restored In Christ - Sons & Daughters | Chad Everett

In this message from the Spiritual Authority: Restored In Christ – Sons & Daughters series, Chad Everett teaches how sons and daughters of God receive everything He has provided through faith. Teaching from Galatians 3, Chad explores the biblical concept of lambano—to receive, take hold of, or possess what has already been provided. Salvation, righteousness, miracles, and every promise of God begin with His grace, not our performance. God is the provider; we are the possessors. Faith does not convince God to provide. Faith enables us to receive what He has already made available through Jesus Christ. From this foundation, Chad shows that faith does more than connect us to God—it makes us sons and daughters in His family. Chad also references a message by Banning Liebscher that helped frame the contrast between seeing the church as an organization or restaurant versus seeing it as a family. Because we belong to the same Father, we are called to function as a Family of Faith. The church was never intended to operate like a restaurant where people simply attend, consume, and leave disconnected. It is a family where believers serve one another, encourage one another, disciple one another, and help one another grow in Christ. Using the illustration of a restaurant versus a family gathering, Chad challenges believers to move beyond a consumer mindset. A restaurant exists to serve customers, but a family thrives when everyone contributes. Instead of asking, “What can I get from church?” sons and daughters begin asking, “Who does God want me to serve, encourage, and minister to?” This message invites believers to receive by faith what God has provided by grace and to live as active members of the family of God. As sons and daughters through faith, we are called to become a Family of Faith that serves, connects, matures, and grows together in relationship with Jesus. Who are you in Christ? In this message from the Spiritual Authority: Restored In Christ series, Chad Everett teaches from Galatians 3 about identity, faith, grace, and spiritual authority. Before believers can walk in authority, they must first understand who they are as sons and daughters of God. Paul asks the Galatians a challenging question: "Who has bewitched you?" As deceptive voices, cultural pressures, and persuasive ideas compete for our attention, believers are called to stay anchored in the truth of God's Word and the finished work of Jesus Christ. Discover why sonship is received through faith—not earned through performance—and learn how living from the Spirit brings freedom, peace, and confidence in your relationship with God. If you've ever struggled with striving, insecurity, condemnation, or trying to earn God's approval, this message is a powerful reminder that your identity is found in Christ alone. In this message from the Spiritual Authority Restored In Christ sermon series, Chad Everett teaches that every believer has been given both a God-given assignment and the fire of the Holy Spirit to fulfill it. As Jesus spoke in Mark 13 about His return, He also revealed how His followers are meant to live until that day comes: take heed, watch, pray, and remain faithful to the work He has entrusted to them. This Pentecost Sunday message explores the connection between the believer's purpose, spiritual authority, and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. Chad explains that the fire of God is not merely emotion or enthusiasm, but the person of the Holy Spirit working within believers to guide, strengthen, comfort, and purify them for the work of the Kingdom. Throughout the sermon, the call is clear: don't become distracted by lesser storylines, cultural confusion, fear, or personal ambition. Instead, stay focused on Jesus, stay awake spiritually, and remain committed to the Father's business. Every follower of Christ has a purpose, and Jesus has given both authority and fire to accomplish it. This message also challenges believers to remain in the refining process of God. The fire of the Holy Spirit not only empowers ministry, but also exposes and purifies areas of fear, pride, insecurity, and flesh so believers can be conformed into the image of Christ. The goal is not simply to begin well, but to finish faithfully. The Roads Church - https://theroads.church

In this message from the Spiritual Authority: Restored In Christ sermon series, Chad Everett walks through Mark 13, the biblical feasts, and the prophetic story line of Scripture to reveal a powerful truth: the goal of prophecy is not merely predicting a date — it is knowing Jesus. Jesus warned His followers about deception, distraction, wars, fear, and spiritual confusion in the last days. Yet throughout His teaching, the focus was never fear. The focus was readiness, endurance, and relationship with Him. This sermon explores how the biblical feasts in Leviticus 23 point directly to Jesus Christ — from His crucifixion and resurrection to the possibility of His future return. Chad also explains the imagery of the Jewish bridegroom and bride, revealing how believers are called to prepare themselves for the return of Christ. More than understanding prophecy, this message calls believers to: stay focused on Jesus, discern the season spiritually, preach the gospel boldly, and live ready for His return. “The gospel is not about predicting a date so we can just have some knowledge, but knowing a man.” The Roads Church - https://theroads.church

In this message from the Spiritual Authority: Restored in Christ sermon series, Chad Everett unpacks the prophetic timeline found in Daniel 9 and brings clarity to what Scripture calls the 70th week—revealing how it connects directly to the times we are living in right now. This teaching goes beyond simply explaining end-times prophecy. It helps believers understand how to discern the times through Scripture, not through culture, media, or political perspectives. Chad walks step-by-step through the 70 weeks prophecy, showing how the first 69 weeks were fulfilled with incredible precision—from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the coming of Jesus as the Messiah. If God was that accurate in fulfilling what has already happened, then what does that mean for what is still ahead? The focus of this message shifts to the final, unfulfilled 70th week—a future seven-year period that Scripture describes in detail. Chad explains what to watch for, including the role of a coming world leader, a peace agreement involving Israel, and the significant shift that takes place halfway through that timeline. By connecting Daniel's prophecy with passages in Revelation, this message brings a clear and grounded understanding of what the Bible says about the days ahead. But the heart of this message is not just information—it's perspective. “That we can watch the news right now and follow the Bible.” — Chad Everett In a world filled with competing voices and constant headlines, this message calls believers to step back and anchor their understanding in God's Word. It challenges us to move away from interpreting events through a political or cultural lens and instead see clearly through the lens of Scripture. Many people missed Jesus when He came the first time—even though the timeline was written in Scripture. This message is a reminder that understanding the Word of God is essential if we want to recognize what He is doing today. The Roads Church - https://theroads.church

Over 2,500 years ago, God revealed to Daniel the exact timeline of the Messiah's coming—down to the day. This sermon unpacks the 70 weeks prophecy and shows how Jesus fulfilled it with undeniable precision. If God was that accurate then, can He be trusted with your life now? This message goes beyond prophecy and into the heart of the gospel. Jesus was “cut off, but not for Himself” (Daniel 9:26). He didn't die for His own sin—He died for ours. Salvation is not something we earn; it is a gift we receive by grace through faith. Chad challenges us to move from simply knowing about Jesus as “Rabbi” to fully surrendering to Him as Lord. In a world full of competing voices, this message calls believers back to Scripture, truth, and wholehearted devotion to Christ. If God fulfilled His Word with this level of accuracy, then we can live with confidence, readiness, and faith in what He has promised still to come. The Roads Church - https://theroads.church

In this message, Chad Everett teaches from Mark 13 and calls the Church to return to a clear, biblical focus in a distracted and divided world. The disciples asked Jesus about timelines and signs, but Jesus redirected their attention to something more important: how they should live. His instruction was not centered on speculation, but on spiritual posture—take heed, watch, and stay on mission. Chad emphasizes that one of the enemy's primary tactics is distraction. In a time filled with voices, opinions, social media, and constant information, believers can easily be led off course. Jesus warns that deception is not always obvious—it often comes through distraction, misdirection, and drifting away from the truth. The message also highlights the importance of being spiritually alert. Believers are called to be watchful, grounded in Scripture, and prepared to respond appropriately—not shaped by culture, but by the Word of God. Finally, the mission is clear: the gospel must be preached. Instead of becoming consumed with signs, politics, or speculation, the Church must remain focused on the Great Commission. Every believer is sent to share the good news of Jesus. Because of this message: ● We are called to take heed so we are not deceived ● We are called to watch and remain spiritually alert ● We are called to stay on mission and preach the gospel The Roads Church - https://theroads.church

In this message from Luke 10, Chad Everett teaches on the authority Jesus has given His followers and what it means to put your foot down on the lies and tactics of the enemy. Jesus told His disciples, “Behold, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy” (Luke 10: 19). That authority — the Greek word exousia — means the right, permission, and jurisdiction given by Christ Himself. But many believers know this truth without living in it. Through a simple but powerful family story about saying “no more dogs,” Chad illustrates how trampling the enemy often begins with a clear decision: stop negotiating with what God has already told us to resist. When the enemy offers fear, shame, temptation, offense, or condemnation, believers have the authority in Christ to say: “No. I'm putting my foot down.” This message will encourage you to: • Walk in the authority Jesus has given you • Recognize and resist the enemy's tactics • Stop agreeing with lies and stand on God's Word • Step into your assignment as a laborer in God's harvest Jesus has already defeated the enemy. Now the church must learn to walk in that victory. The Roads Church - https://theroads.church

“Jesus was not filled with a thing. He was filled with a person.” In this message, Filled, Sent, and Accountable, Pastor Chad Everett teaches how Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit, led by the Spirit, and sent with authority to bring good news to the brokenhearted, the captive, and the oppressed. The same Holy Spirit that filled Jesus now lives in every believer. Because of that, every follower of Christ is sent with a purpose — to preach the gospel, pray for people, and bring the hope of the Kingdom of God wherever they go. Too often the Church has shifted from “go and preach the gospel” to simply “come and attend.” But Jesus' command has never changed. The Great Commission was never meant to become the great suggestion. Jesus has given His followers authority and power through the Holy Spirit. The question is not whether we are equipped — the question is whether we will say yes to being sent. This message will challenge you to stop living as a spectator and begin living as someone filled with the Spirit, sent on mission, and accountable to God. The Roads Church: https://theroads.church

How did Jesus function when He walked the earth — and what does that mean for us today? In this message, Chad Everett walks us through Luke 4, Luke 9, Philippians 2, and 2 Corinthians 4 to answer a crucial question: How did Jesus operate — and how are we meant to live now? Jesus was fully God. Yet He chose to empty Himself of divine privilege and function as a man anointed by the Holy Spirit. He moved in dunamis (power) and exusia (authority), not independently, but in submission to the Father through the Spirit. He did not operate from self. He operated from relationship. Then He gave that authority to His disciples. This message centers on one powerful truth from 2 Corinthians 4: 7: “We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” The authority of Christ is not distant. It is not something we are waiting to fall from heaven. It is the reality of Christ dwelling within us. The question is not whether the treasure is present. The question is whether we are living from it. The Roads Church: https://theroads.church

“Are you going to return the same way you came, or are you going to return in the dunamis of God?” In this message from the Spiritual Authority – Restored In Christ sermon series, Chad Everett walks through Luke 4 and reveals how Jesus modeled spiritual authority through the power of the Holy Spirit. After confronting temptation in the wilderness, Jesus did not return the same — He returned in the power of the Spirit, operating with both dunamis (miraculous power) and exusia (authority and jurisdiction). This teaching shows how Jesus responded to temptation with the Word — “It is written” — choosing truth over the lies of the enemy that often come through thoughts and feelings. From there, we see Jesus teaching in the synagogue, rebuking unclean spirits, healing sickness, and demonstrating that spiritual authority is not theoretical, but active and practical. Chad also challenges the Church to guard against familiarity and religion that dulls spiritual hunger. The goal is not entertainment or information alone, but training — equipping believers with skill to walk in the authority Jesus restored through the Holy Spirit. This message is a call to return differently — not in human strength, but in the power and authority God has made available to every believer. What if the greatest obstacle to spiritual authority isn't the enemy—but ourselves? In this message, Chad Everett continues the Spiritual Authority — Restored in Christ series by addressing one of the most subtle and dangerous temptations believers face: the pride of life. Drawing from Luke 4, this teaching examines how Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit, led by the Spirit, and trained through temptation—and how His response reveals the path to true spiritual authority. This sermon challenges a common mindset in modern Christianity: living independently from God while still expecting His blessing. Through the temptation narrative, Chad shows that the pride of life is not merely arrogance or boasting, but self-rule—making decisions apart from God, trusting our own understanding, and asking God to bless choices we never submitted to Him. A key focus of this message is Psalm 91 and how Scripture can be misunderstood or misused when it is separated from relationship and obedience. Satan himself quoted Scripture to Jesus, but left out the condition of dwelling in God's presence. This teaching calls believers to examine whether they are pursuing the promises of God or the person of God. The Roads Church: https://theroads.church

What is the purpose of the local church? Not entertainment—but training. Church attendance is the door—but once you're in, there's training that needs to take place. In this message, Chad Everett lays out a clear mission: to enter people into the fullness of Christ and train warrior disciples—not just church attenders. Coming to church is the door. Discipleship is what happens after you walk in. Using Luke 4 as a masterclass from Jesus, Chad shows how spiritual authority is trained, strengthened, and activated. Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit, led by the Holy Spirit, and anchored in the Word of God—and He models how to stand firm when the enemy questions identity, offers counterfeit shortcuts, and attempts to trap us through offense. You'll hear why biblical fasting isn't religious hype or church tradition, but normal discipleship: a time of consecration where we replace physical food with spiritual food—prayer and the Word—so our spirit leads instead of our flesh. And you'll be confronted with a defining truth: the enemy's strategy is deception, not overpowering. When we know who we are in Christ—and who Christ is in us—the enemy loses ground. If this message stirred something in you, respond to it. Ask the Holy Spirit where you've been listening to your flesh instead of following His lead. Identify any lie or offense that's been limiting your spiritual authority—and answer it with God's Word. Choose one place this week to say no to the enemy and yes to God. Long before Adam and Eve had bodies, God spoke directly to their spirits and gave them purpose, identity, and authority. That order matters. God establishes truth in the spirit realm before it shows up in the natural—and He calls us to live the same way. Chad shows from Genesis 1–3 that spiritual authority doesn't start with force, effort, or trying harder. It starts with agreement. The first battlefield of dominion was not a physical fight—it was a voice. Adam and Eve's greatest challenge came through what they heard, what they believed, and who they chose to agree with. Pastor Chad Everett teaches that God's first commission in a sinless world was not about fighting darkness, but about defending and expanding what God created. Subduing and having dominion is ultimately about submission to God, not domination over people. We overcome darkness by saying yes to God, not by fixating on the enemy. Authority in Christ flows from staying connected to His voice. When believers say yes to God's truth about their identity, marriage, family, and calling, they naturally resist and reject anything that opposes Him. Authority is not about volume, personality, or knowledge. It is about submission, intimacy, and spiritual alignment with Jesus. You do not exercise authority because of your name. Why does the Word of God produce such different results in people's lives? Jesus said the difference isn't the seed—it's the soil of the heart. In this message from Mark 4: 3–20, Chad Everett teaches on the thorny soil—the heart conditions that hear the Word but allow the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desire for other things to choke it out. These thorns don't just distract us—they suffocate the breath of God's Word in us. But God gives us a way to respond: cast your cares on Him, practice generosity that breaks the power of riches, and seek the one thing—Jesus—above all else. This isn't just about a parable; it's about your heart right now. Will you allow thorns to choke the Word, or will you receive it, accept it, and bear fruit that multiplies thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold? Lean in and let the Holy Spirit show you what needs to be cleared, so the Word can breathe fresh life in you. The Roads Church: https://theroads.church

“The man in the middle makes the difference!” Proximity Is Not the Same as Relationship This moment speaks directly to us today. Many people are near Jesus — even in church, around Christian things — but not actually with Jesus. “You can be next to Jesus and still miss Him.” The man on the left died near Jesus, but not with Jesus. The man on the right died with Jesus, and woke up in paradise. Which criminal are we? This is the ultimate question. Are you the one who wants Jesus to save your life so you can keep it? Or are you the one who says, “I deserve death. Remember me.” Both criminals had the same opportunity. Both were the same distance from Jesus. Only one walked into eternity with Him. Jesus invites you to move from beside Him to with Him. He doesn't force. He lets you choose. Will you surrender? Will you die to your old life? Will you let the man in the middle make the difference in your life today? The Roads Church: https://theroads.church

In this teaching on Luke 11, Chad Everett dives deep into Jesus' lesson on prayer—how it can be taught, learned, and applied with persistence. When the disciples asked, “Lord, teach us to pray,” Jesus not only gave them the model prayer (The Lord's Prayer) but also shared a powerful parable about a friend knocking at midnight. Luke 18 continues the conversation, focusing on the character and nature of God. If we're going to pray correctly, we must understand that God is not like the reluctant friend in bed or the unjust judge. Too many people see God as distant or unwilling, like someone who has bigger things to worry about than our everyday problems. That is not God! Jesus emphasizes that God is a good Father who wants us to come boldly and persistently to Him, trusting that He will answer our prayers.

The early church was committed to steadfastly continue in prayer. If we as a church today believe that we should pray, what keeps us from praying? - WE DON'T KNOW HOW. Prayer can be taught & learned. Jesus taught His disciples to pray. - WE CAN BE LAZY. Not wanting to put in the time & effort. - WE WANT TO BE INDEPENDENT. Pride won't pray, it doesn't need God. Humility prays, it's dependent on God. - WE THINK IT DOESN'T MATTER OR MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Active, working & functioning prayer - it gets the job done! Keep praying! It matters! It makes a difference! Our prayers are filling the golden bowls in heaven. The goal in prayer is to align our hearts with God and to know what to pray. "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit." Fellowship - kŏinōnia - Close mutual relationships and involvement; partnership, participation; sharing in activities or privileges of an intimate association We are to "continue steadfastly" in Fellowship - both horizontally - with our brothers and sisters in Christ, and vertically with the Father and Jesus. And this is that "your joy may be full." Vertical Fellowship - We are not called merely into a relationship ABOUT JESUS; we're called into a kŏinōnia WITH JESUS. We are called to partner with, participate with, involved with Jesus in an intimate relationship. You cannot have faith outside of the revelation that Jesus living in you is greater than he who is in the world, and then you can release faith through Jesus living in you. Horizontal Fellowship - Who you fellowship with MATTERS! We have been called to horizontal kŏinōnia that goes out into the world that is so connected to Jesus that He in us will draw people to Him. When we partner with people who are connected to Jesus who prays for us, who encourages us, and when we get out of kŏinōnia with Jesus and the Bible, they call us to the truth. And when we partner with others in ministry - fruit abounds to your account in heaven. "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. All five gifts found in Ephesians 4 - apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher - were given to the church for equipping the body for the work of ministry. We are not equipped for ourselves. We are equipped to minister for the benefit of others, for the building up and fitting of the body of Christ. You can be attached to a body, and not be attached to a head. It's called a CORPSE. Sometimes people are attached to a body, attending a church, but if we're not attached to the head, we will not be fully alive and functioning. We are all part of the body, with different assignment. We all need one another. We will not be equipped or fit, without all the gifts of the body of Christ operating. And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
