Charlotte SHOUT!, a celebration of art, culture and community, begins this weekend. It's billed as an “inclusive and inspirational sensory feast for all ages.” Last year, nearly 2 million people ventured uptown during this 17-day event, and they're hoping to beat that number this year. Meet some of the people responsible, a London artist, and hear about the economic impact of this event.

Uptown Charlotte hosts the multi-week festival known as Charlotte Shout! The festival is produced by Charlotte Center City Partners and includes music performances, art installations, community conversations, culinary events, and more. The idea is to showcase and celebrate Charlotte's creativity, innovation, and diversity. If you've been to the Whitewater Center during the winter the past couple of years, one of your highlights has surely been the Whitewater “Lights” along their wooded trails. The popular exhibits have brought in thousands of visitors to the center during colder months when whitewater rafting is not top-of-the-list outdoor activities. Now the same artist is lighting up a couple of popular public exhibits around town – like the Rail Trail in SouthEnd and, in April, Charlotte Shout.
