As the number of Nepalis running their own businesses in Australia continues to grow, adapting to rapid technological changes is seen as an important tool for success. Sydney-based businessman Dipesh Shrestha believes artificial intelligence (AI) should be understood and embraced by entrepreneurs. Involved in education, migration services, and the production of Nepali-flavoured beer in Australia, Shrestha is also providing AI training to help businesses adopt new technologies. Nepali mountaineer Purnima Shrestha has now climbed Mount Everest six times, including her latest ascent on May 20 this year. More than 270 climbers reached the summit within the same 24-hour period — the highest number ever recorded in a single day. Images and videos of long queues of climbers on the mountain circulated widely on social media and news, reigniting debate about overcrowding on Everest. Nepali photojournalist Narendra Shrestha is one of the winners of the 2026 World Press Photo Contest. His image, captured during the Gen Z protests in Nepal last September, which shows the Singha Durbar engulfed in flames, was selected as a joint winner in the ‘Singles' category for the West, Central and South Asia region, alongside two other photographs.
