In this episode, Brian welcomes two guests with remarkable Bigfoot encounters that span decades and stretch from the mountains of North Carolina to the swamps of Connecticut.First, North Carolina truck driver Dwayne shares a startling daylight sighting along Highway 18 near Kings Creek School. Traveling the familiar two-lane road in late April roughly two years ago, Dwayne watched an estimated eight-foot-tall, black, powerfully built creature cross the highway directly in front of him.Ā In only five or six enormous strides, it covered the road, stepped over a roughly three-foot guardrail without breaking pace, and disappeared into the thick woods on the opposite side. The encounter sent Dwayne searching through local Bigfoot reports, Appalachian folklore, and stories passed down through families around the Linville Gorge, Watauga County, and the surrounding North Carolina mountains. That search leads Brian into the historical record and an old newspaper story Dwayne remembered as dating to 1888. While investigating the claim, Brian uncovers a verified December 14, 1877, account from the Charlotte Daily Observer, reprinted from the Statesville Landmark, describing a mysterious āWild Manā reportedly seen prospecting in the Globe Valley near Blowing Rock.Ā Witnesses described a hairy figure beating its chest and retreating toward a cave, offering a fascinating glimpse into Appalachian wild-man traditions decades before the term āBigfootā entered the American vocabulary.Brian also examines how seriously these nineteenth-century reports should be taken in an era when sensational newspaper stories and outright hoaxes were common. From there, the conversation explores Daniel Boone's famous late-life story of encountering and killing what he reportedly called a āYahoo,ā the heavily publicized 1978 and 1979 sightings of the creature known as āNobbyā near Carpenter's Knob, and a much more recent 911 report from 2010.Then Brian welcomes Steve, now living in North Carolina, who takes the story back to 1986 and one of the closest encounters ever shared on the show. While stationed at a submarine facility in Connecticut, Steve went squirrel hunting before daylight in the Assetunk Swamp. As morning arrived, he heard something moving through the woods and initially assumed it was a deer.Ā Instead, an enormous hairy figure stepped across the trail less than thirty feet away. Steve estimates the creature stood at least nine feet tall, with dark skin, heavy hair, and a surprisingly human-looking face. Rather than immediately retreating, Steve moved closer, eventually getting within roughly fifteen feet before the creature looked down at him and exploded through the woods with enough force to sound, in his words, like a bulldozer. When Steve circled ahead and unknowingly cut off its path, the encounter changed. The creature unleashed a deep growl powerful enough that Steve says he could feel it throughout his body. Armed only with a sixteen-gauge double-barrel shotgun, he decided it was time to back away.Steve continued hunting the area afterward without another direct confrontation, but his experiences did not end in Connecticut.Since returning to North Carolina, he describes unexplained tree movements, possible vocalizations, strange nighttime sounds, unusual activity around his property, and other incidents that have kept him interested in the mystery.Ā His approach, however, remains skeptical. Steve prefers going into the woods without assuming Bigfoot is responsible for every unexplained sound or broken branch, looking instead for evidence and conventional explanations first.Brian and Steve also discuss one of the biggest divisions within modern Bigfoot research: whether these creatures are undiscovered biological animals or something far stranger.Ā Both remain skeptical of claims involving portals, cloaking, interdimensional travel, and extraterrestrial connections without physical evidence to support them. The conversation turns to the continuing absence of a confirmed body or scientifically accepted DNA sample, and the frustration that comes from decades of extraordinary eyewitness testimony without the definitive physical evidence needed to settle the question. From an eight-foot figure crossing a North Carolina highway in broad daylight to a nine-foot creature standing only yards from a hunter in a Connecticut swamp, this episode connects modern encounters with more than a century of Appalachian stories about wild men, hairy giants, and unexplained creatures lurking just beyond the tree line.Email BrianJoin Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.Have you had a Bigfoot encounter, Sasquatch sighting, Dogman experience, or other cryptid or paranormal encounter? Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Alison Ellwood has spent years uncovering the stories behind some of music's most fascinating artists and scenes, from the Eagles and the Go-Go's to Laurel Canyon and San Francisco. Her latest film, Boy George & Culture Club, takes us behind the colorful image of one of the most iconic bands of the 1980s and into the complicated stories that unfolded behind the scenes. We talk about the love affair between Boy George and Jon Moss that inspired the music, George's struggles with drug abuse, the secrets within the band, and the fallout surrounding their missed opportunity to perform at Live Aid. Alison also revisits the Eagles, including the tensions that were still very much alive when she made her documentary, and the idealism, creativity and community that defined San Francisco's music scene in the '60s. She shares what she's really looking for when she sits down with an artist and how she gets beyond the answers they've given a hundred times before. It's a fascinating conversation about music, fame, relationships and the stories hiding beneath the surface. Boy George & Culture Club is available on Amazon and Apple TV. Send us Fan MailIn this episode, Big Rich Klein sits down with rock-bouncing champion Tim Cameron, a Tennessee native whose passion for off-road racing began with four-wheelers, Jeeps, and hill climbs.Tim shares how he learned fabrication from Brian Cole and built his first full-tube-chassis buggy, Fat Girl. He discusses the evolution of his rigs, including Jenny Craig, Moon Rover, Hellraiser, Showtime, and Game Changer. His innovative use of a ProFab drop box helped redefine rock-bouncer drivetrain design. The conversation follows Tim's transition from wild hill climbs to competitive racing. After experiencing Ultra4 suspension technology firsthand with Randy Slawson, Tim embraced bypass shocks, trailing arms, and increased wheel travel. His redesigned buggies helped him win multiple consecutive championships and influenced the direction of rock-bouncing competition.Tim also recalls his 2015 King of the Hammers debut, where he and co-pilot Cole Shirley finished 11th despite fuel-system problems. After racing more than 40 weekends a year, Tim recognized burnout and took time away from competition. During that break, he discovered dirt late-model racing and began mastering an entirely different discipline.Today, Tim continues competing in rock bouncing while developing his dirt-track career. He discusses his current buggy, 100 Shots Reloaded, plans for a super late model, and the possibility of returning to Ultra4 racing.Ā Support the show

He argues that people who succeed adjust the plan based on results rather than demolishing it at the first sign of stagnation, and that knowing what a goal actually demands prevents spending everything before the finish. He closes on time as the greatest variable, noting that going too fast or quitting too early is the larger hazard. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://roglawfitness.com/how-to-rock-at-goal-setting/ Quotes to ponder: "Successful people do not just create a plan and follow it blindly; they are constantly re-evaluating it based on their results." It's always a thrill to talk with "The Demon" Gene Simmons of KISS. The dude is a rock icon, and he's coming to UWM Field in Utica on September 20th, along with Derek St Holmes and Kaliedo. Gene was gracious with his time as we spoke for thirty minutes about his upbringing, recently turning 77 years old, his solo band and KISS, and lots more. What's the best non-musical financial decision he ever made? How have he and Paul Stanley remained so tight over all these years? How much unreleased KISS material remains in the vault? Those are some of the questions Gene answered along with his thoughts on his son's band, Stanley/Simmons, touring with RUSH, and much more. Give the interview a listen, then grab your tickets to see Gene at the USPBL Fall Music Classic at UWM Field in Utica, Michigan. I spoke with Rik Emmett earlier today and thought it was so good I didn't want to wait to post it. Yes, I know I posted an interview already today (with Gene Simmons), but it's my podcast, and I make the rules! Obviously, I had to ask Rik about the tour and putting the band back together with some help from Phil X, Brent Fitz, and Todd Kerns. He was all about talking about that, Mike Levin not playing any of the shows, and the "Summer of Canadian Rock Trios" with Rush getting back on the road in 2026. Then, it's a classic interview with Fred Durst and Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit from 2010. This interview aired on WRIF but was never posted online, so here it is. It's cool to go back and listen to how the guys split and got back together. There are also some other cultural references, including a social media interaction with Neil Diamond. Most Parkinson's treatments focus on replacing dopamineābut what if a medication could target some of the underlying disease processes instead? In this episode, we take a closer look at Fasudil, an experimental therapy that is generating interest in the Parkinson's research community. Originally developed for a completely different neurological condition, Fasudil is now being studied for its potential effects on neuroinflammation, alpha-synuclein accumulation, cellular repair mechanisms, and other pathways involved in Parkinson's disease. We'll discuss: What Fasudil is and how it works The role of ROCK inhibition in Parkinson's research Potential effects on inflammation and alpha-synuclein What animal studies have shown so far The current status of human clinical trials What people with Parkinson's should know right now While Fasudil is not currently an approved treatment for Parkinson's disease, it represents an exciting example of how researchers are looking beyond dopamine to develop future therapies that may one day slow disease progression.
