Absolutely for a while, but eventually they're going to have to operate in this world. The whole point of parenting is to guide your kids to become critical thinkers as they participate in the world through social media so that they're not distracted and their life isn't distorted by the messages that are coming through. Scott Schimmel (02:00): Advertisers have used scare tactics and scarcity to sell throughout time, and it's really no different in social media. I'm a grown man, and yet I am so distracted by the messages that come through media, particularly social media. Scott Schimmel (03:00): I remember being in Maui, the absolute vacation of our dreams for my wife and I. One day, I scrolled through social media and saw another family on a trip in Zion National Park. Suddenly, I felt bad that we weren't there instead, even though I was in my favorite place in the world. Scott Schimmel (04:30): If I, with my achievements and stability, can feel worse because of social media, how much more will this happen to a kid who hasn't formed a life yet? Scott Schimmel (06:30): Eventually, your kids will have access to social media. The key question is whether they will be mindful and self-aware, able to think critically, or if they will be victims of the false messages telling them they're not enough. Scott Schimmel (07:30): At The YouSchool, we've designed the Tech Healthy Parenting course to help parents navigate these issues. By consuming media with your kids and discussing the underlying messages, you can guide them to be thoughtful and wise. Remember to check out our Tech Healthy Parenting course to help you and your kids navigate the digital world effectively!
This podcast is focused on Shamanic Journeying. Shamanic Journeying has ritualistic elements and needs to be done correctly. This post explains important and little known nuances about how to do Shamanic Journeying correctly. Shamanic Journey is a form of inner exploration and has been an integral part of many indigenous shamanic wisdom traditions, in far corners of the world, and used as a spiritual and healing practice for centuries. Fortunately, the shamanic journeying has been gaining its much-deserved respect and popularity, in recent years. In the past, Shamanic Journeys were practiced under the guidance of a shamanic elder, and based on a set of well-defined indigenous ceremonial rituals. Unfortunately today, many who practice shamanic journeying don't have access to shamanic elders, and are not as familiar with these ceremonial rituals. In that sense, many who do shamanic journeying today practice that as a form of interactive mediation, with limited understanding of its deep ritualistic foundation. The goal of this podcast is raise your awareness about commonly overlooked technical nuances of shamanic journeys, and what you should do or avoid doing when journeying. This helps you develop a deeper understanding of proper practice of shamanic journeying. If you are new to shamanic journeying or still have questions about it, you may find the content provided here useful. More specifically, this podcast covers the following topics:- Shamanic Journey verses Conventional Meditation- The Difference between Imagination, Imaginary, and Imaginal - The Ritualistic Elements of Shamanic Journeys- Importance of Setting an Intention before Shamanic Journeying- Mapping the Shamanic Cosmos and its Worlds- The difference between Spirit Guides and Imaginary Thought Forms (or Tulpas) - Importance of engaging the Spirit Guides - And, the Essential Role of Having a Chief Guide. This podcast is produced by Aion Farvahar, who is a Life and Spirituality Mentor, and a Psychoshamanic and IFS Self-Leadership Practitioner.
