The creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. — Romans 8:21 Did you know that God's plan of salvation includes more than the saving of human souls? For many Christians “Jesus saves” means that Jesus saves us from our sins, and that is true—but there is also much more. Jesus came to save the whole world, all of creation. So, when Jesus comes again, the world will not be obliterated—it will be renewed. The creation will no longer be subjected to the effects of human sin. It will be renewed, purified, and made whole. At the time of our first sin, the ground itself became cursed. And throughout human history we have often been a curse to the ground and to the air and the seas as well. We often spoil and wreck God's creation rather than protecting, guarding, and cultivating it. In this situation, creation “groans” under the effects of the curse of sin. All of creation longs to be set free from this cursed state. The universe longs for Jesus to return, for his enemies to be conquered, and for his children to be revealed as his own. Then all creation will be set free, along with the children of God. O God, thank you for your solution of setting the whole world free from the curse of sin. Help us to guard and cultivate the world you came to save. Amen.

Faith has the power to transform our lives as we pursue an active God! In this episode, Bishop Wright had a conversation with Bishop Frank Logue, Bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of Georgia. They have a conversation about life, as we see it, not being about measuring up, but realizing as Christians Jesus has assured us we are enough and our call is to use our faith for God's goodness.Bishop Logue shares personal stories of his own faith both past and present and how it continues to lead him on his path with Christ. Listen in for the full conversation. The Rt. Rev. Frank S. Logue began his ministry as the 11th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia on May 30, 2020. At that time he had already served two decades in the Diocese first as a church planter and then as the assistant to the 10th bishop.Born in Montgomery, Alabama, where he lived for 6 years, Frank Logue grew up in Marietta, Georgia. A 1984 graduate of Georgia Southern University, he worked as a photographer for two small daily newspapers in Georgia— the Warner Robins Daily Sun and the Rome News-Tribune. Frank married Victoria Steele in 1985. The Logues hiked the entire 2,150-mile Appalachian Trail in a single six-month long hike in 1988. Three years later, after he worked as an Art Director for a non-profit, Frank and Victoria went full-time as freelance writer-photographers, writing books, and magazine articles. Their daughter, Griffin Logue, born in 1991 added great joy and wonder to their lives.

In Exodus chapters 11 and 12 we get the tenth and final plague and the instructions for the Passover celebration meal. Stuart explains these chapters for us and how as Christians Jesus has given new meaning to this Passover celebration in Communion. The exodus in the bible is the most referred to story and book across the rest of the bible and indeed one of the most well known stories around the world. In it God, through Moses, leads the people out of slavery and into freedom. He draws them out of Egypt, to draw them in to a relationship with Him...into hope, into freedom, into salvation, redemption and much more. Through this story, we see that God continues to do this very thing today for the people of God, His treasured possession. Jesus was no pushover. Neither was He afraid of getting ‘political.' Many people believe that ‘separation of church & state' is a modern concept. Pastor Josh clarifies in this sermon that it was Jesus who set this idea in motion. Be encouraged, Christians—Jesus is Lord over all things, including politics.
We begin this episode with some personal testimony from Tyler on what's currently going on in his family life and how God is using all these things for good! Diving into a passage from Luke, 22:39-46, Josh then leads us in a symbolic exposition of the Scripture, showing Christians Jesus' example during His most mentally, physically, and spiritually exhausting time of His incarnation, save the crucifixion, the Garden of Gethsemane. This episode is exceptionally practical for Christians during times of mental, spiritual and even physical suffering, encouraging us all to keep pushing forward and even discipling people during times of tribulation and distress! We never know who's watching us during times of temptation and suffering. May we as Christians testify to the goodness of God by our actions so people may see the Image of God and Jesus Christ in us and glorify the God of Heaven! Biblical Passages References: Luke 22:39-46 Ephesians 1 Hebrews 1
How should we live as Christians- Jesus teaches us in an exhortation and in its implications.
This passage is a favorite among Christians: Jesus' call for us to abide. As Jesus walks closer to the cross, He continues His charge to His disciples, but not without reminding them again the only way to love and do as He did is to remain connected to the True Vine. Abiding is not another activity or "to do;" it's an invitation. This podcast is a companion teaching to the Feasting on Truth women's Bible study. In 2 Peter 2:1-2, it is written: “But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.” It's a fact that there are ravenous wolves in the church because Jesus Himself said so (Matthew 7:15). Sadly, some of these wolves lead big churches, have a huge following online and are leading millions astray. Are you listening to and learning from shepherds appointed by Christ, under the authority of the Holy Spirit, who are teaching the “whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27), “rightly dividing the Word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) and building God's Kingdom? OR are you being deceived by motivational speakers who tell you what you want to hear, who make you feel good, BUT are spreading fake news instead of the Good News and building their own kingdoms? In 2 Timothy 4:3-4, it is written: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.“ Unless we are relying on the Holy Spirit to pursue a personal relationship with Jesus and live in utter dependence on Him (John 15:5), we cannot be the Christians Jesus has called us to be. If the Bereans “searched the Scriptures daily to find out” if what Apostle Paul taught is true, how much for should we as Christians be examining what we are watching and listening? In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus warns us: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Does Jesus know the Christian(s) you are a fan of? More importantly, does Jesus know YOU? With the death of Ruth Bater Ginsburg, conservatives are frothing at the mouth with a chance to seat a new Supreme Justice. It's part of their new orthodoxy. Wait, since when did Christianity become all about abortion, seating judges, and filling the Supreme Court in the USA? I don't recall Jesus prophesying about that in the Bible? On that's right. American Christianity doesn't bother itself with the words of Jesus. No, no. That would be too restrictive and cumbersome towards our lifestyle of "Me First," I'm sorry, I mean "American First." The ethics of modern-day Christianity are as selfish as the rest of the culture. What happened to the servant posture of Christians? Jesus called us to serve, give, and love, yet all I see is American Christianity in a tailspin and grabbing for relevance and political power. The gentrified American church wants the neighborhood to change. It wants a gated community of privilege, and the remembrance of Jesus is less of a memory now and more of an empty talking point to the faithful. He's a symbol, but his words and ways have been hijacked. In these divided times, Christ's words still call us to be faithful, loving and caring of humanity, creation, and our world. Though conservatives see the death of RBG as an opportunity for power, I see her life as an opportunity to emulate a person of faith who let their ethics and values govern the way she led the judiciary towards equality. Ginsburg changed the world, and her faith was an instrumental part of it. We need more people of faith and conviction to make a difference in this world hell-bent on vapidity and selfishness. A life well-lived in the pursuit of helping others makes a difference. Come along for the ride as we skewer through life, culture, and spirituality in the face of a changing world. www.SnarkyFaith.com
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Let that sink in… The NIV version says, Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom's instruction. Hearing and seeing God is the most important thing we can ever do .” For in him we live and move and have our being”(Acts 17:28) .It is from God we get our identity, calling, and understand what we are to do in life. Think about that for a moment… Take a deep breath, let it all out. With this, we open our ears, and eyes to hear from God Saul in the New Testament who became Paul in scriptures had a transformation because he had a vision of Jesus. While on his way to persecute Christians Jesus revealed himself, and asked Paul why he was persecuting him. Saul was struck with blindness until Ananias prayed for him, then he could see again. Because of this vision, Saul was transformed, and instead of persecuting Christians he became one and was used greatly for converting the non-Jewish world to Christianity. Also, Peter who was a staunch Jew got a vision of a sheet coming from heaven with all types of animals, and God told him to kill and eat. Peter said that he had never eaten any unclean animal, but God told him don’t reject what he had made clean. It was from this vision that God broke down the division and had Peter to minister to Cornelius a centurion in the Italian regiment in Acts 10. Cornelius also had a vision from the angel who gave him a message and directed him to Peter. It was through these revelations, and visions from God that the church was established throughout the non-Jewish world, and the reason I speak to you today about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. It is on the revelation of Jesus Christ that you can have peace Let’s Pray Dear heavenly Father, we honor you. We say that you are above everything else. We receive your power, we receive your wisdom. May our eyes be fixed on you so we can understand who we are and break down divisions that separate us from working in harmony. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/malanjones/support
On this Faith episode, Deb, Craig and I talk on Revelations 1: 1-8 and talk on the concept of God that was, is and will be and how we must be Christ-like, to remember the sacrifice and the lessons Jesus has given us, to be the Christians Jesus wants to be, and to hold on to the promise of the Christ that will come. We also talk about the Reclaiming Jesus movement (http://www.reclaimingjesus.org), the unfortunate death of the missionary that tried to fellowship with the indigenous tribe at North Sentinel Island and died (my advice: only fellowship to those that WANT fellowship) and the holiday season.
Isaiah 5:1-7 provides the background to John 15. Israel had been punished for their failure to produce good fruit. Can this be our future as Christians? Jesus gives us an amazing picture of "live in the vine." We will produce good fruit if we stay in the vine!
Jesus answers the "How" question that his disciples are wrestling with. "How" do we deal with the persecution to come to Christians? Jesus outlines three POWERFUL resurrection outcomes to combat persecution (Holy Spirit, Joy, & Prayer)
“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.'” —Luke 2:10 The odds are pretty good that you will sing “Joy to the World” at a Christmas service this season. It's a classic Christmas carol with a great reminder of why we have joy. Joy to the world, the Lord is come!Let earth receive her King! These simple words explain the reason for our joy as Christians: Jesus has come. But how do we live with joy in a world with such real suffering? Max Lucado talks about two different types of joy: contingent joy and courageous joy. Contingent joy is based on our circumstances and how things are going in life. Courageous joy is based in Jesus and is with us no matter what we're facing. Contingent joy focuses on the situational; courageous joy focuses on the eternal. Joni Eareckson Tada is an author, speaker, and artist who was paralyzed as a teenager as a result of a diving accident. She says her joy comes from knowing that “God permits what he hates to accomplish what he loves.” She's focused on the eternal. Joy is one of the attributes the world sees in us and doesn't understand; it's a great testimony, especially when it's displayed in the hard places of life. Let's pray for our kids to be marked by joy, not just at Christmas but at all times, because it's not based on today but eternity. Joy to the world, the Lord has come! Jesus, you are the reason we have joy. In complete humility, you came to earth as a baby, to pay the price for our sins so that we might live eternally. Reveal in [name] a joy that's rooted not in their circumstances but in you alone.
