Hey my friend,   I know many Christians who hesitate to speak about money to other Christians. And even if they dare to bring up this topic at Church, many seem to associate money as a sinful thing. The quick conclusions seems to be that only greedy people think about money. Some might even hint at you that you are too attached to the things of the world, when you speak about making money, having a career or being successful. Why is that? Did Jesus teach us to be sloppy people with no ambition or drive? The other day I read a book cover by Billy Sticker, a Christian Entrepreneur "The church has done a great job teaching us how to give, but a poor job teaching us how to earn. There is a mindset throughout much of the church that money is evil." Sadly, I couldn't agree more. I don't think poverty is the virtue God is trying to instill in us. However, there is also the other extreme. The name it, claim it, abundance theory! Those who believe in the abundance theory claim that God will give us all the riches we desire, we only have to ask him to do so. Again, did Jesus teach us to strive to be rich and to hit God up for all the material blessings? So, how do we find the right money mindset that is founded on biblical principles? Should we feel bad for wanting to make money? As with many things in life, God looks at the heart and at our motives. Hey my friend,     Do you find yourself in the space where you are denying yourself any expenditure at all? Maybe, you have invested in building up your own business and finances are really tight or you are working on paying back your debt. Or maybe you have decided that you need to cut back on expenses in order to achieve a big financial goal. Hi friend,     Do you have a big audacious goal in your life? A dream so big you almost do not dare thinking about it let alone speaking to anyone about it?! Hi friend, Are you spending your summer being anxious and worried about your future? Hi friend, Has it been a long time since you have been excited about your life? You don't know what the reason for this is. You just seem to feel so unhappy and miserable right about everything in your life! Believe me when I tell you that I know this feeling first hand. I was having a rough phase a couple of years ago. I was having a hard time at work. After a change in the company structure I had to do stuff which I did not like doing at all. After coming home I used to be so beat up that I did not have it in me to play with my daughter, let alone have conversation with my spouse or even do the dishes. I just felt so miserable because I felt that I have no passion in me. I did not feel like doing anything. There were days when I was just going through the motions but in reality I was feeling so terribly disappointed and discontent about how things had turned out for me. Maybe you are at a similar place today. Maybe you had a big dream a few years ago but something happened along the way that threw you out of the game. And it may well be that added to this you are struggling with feelings of shame and guilt because you seem not to be "able" to be happy in your life. Hi friend, Have you ever been in this situation. You see your friend or a colleague struggling in a bleak situation but you don't quite know what to say. Maybe they are not a Christian and you hesitate to share the word of God with them. Or you try to be there but something just feels off because you feel you have nothing to offer. Let me share this truth with you. No matter who you are or what you do for a living - you are still a Christian. As a Christian we bring something of Christ's love and peace into every situation AND it does NOT matter whether the other person really believes in God or doesn't. I went to a funeral ministry workshop a few weeks ago and was expecting to learn about funerals and caring for those who have lost a loved one. I returned realizing that funeral ministry is just another area of showing the world that Jesus is for real. I took away many lessons which are not just applicable in funeral ministry but are really important applications for my day-to-day life. I want to share these insights with you, because I believe that being aware about them helps us to do life in a more fruitful and conscious way. These lessons help you, not just to be a Christian for yourself (privately) but to become a "Christian First Responder" in all the situations life throws at you.   I pray this blesses you. Hi friend, Were you excited to get up on Monday and go to work? Do you feel satisfied and content when you come home? Or do you rather even lack the energy to move once you are back and feel all your life juices have been sucked out of you?! I did a poll recently and an overwhelming 260 people said that the number one reason for them to stay in their current job is that it pays their bills. But is it really worth it?! I know for a fact, that they are probably not factoring in the cost of staying in the job. Whether to stay in a job or not does not just have to be a pure emotional decision nor should you decide to stay purely because you think it pays you enough. When you do the math you might be surprised to discover, that this job is not the best option for you after all. In this episode I teach you how to get the balance right when you make a decision regarding job opportunities. Businesses calculate the opportunity cost of different investment opportunities to find out which opportunity they should fund and which they shouldn't. I applied that principle to the day-to-day decisions we make in terms of how we want to make income. In this episode I teach you to calculate the true cost you are paying to stay in a job which supposedly pays you enough.
