As we have been working through chapter 3 Paul has been giving us point after point that a person can only be accepted by God through faith in the gospel. Keeping the Old Testament law is not necessary, and Paul has been reaching back into the OT to prove this. If you have just joined us Paul is addressing the issue of legalism that one must keep the law to be accepted by God. It's not Jesus + the law or Jesus + circumcision but rather Jesus + nothing. Pauls argument is: faith in Jesus and Jesus alone. Today, Paul is going to tell us what that faith does to us. What happens when we believe in Jesus alone by faith? When we truly believe, what happens to us?

Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! In today's episode, host Hunter guides us through a reflective journey in God's Word on this 28th day of June—day 180 in our Bible reading adventure. We dig into the prophetic challenges and hope in Amos chapters 1–3, draw near through the heartfelt prayers of Psalm 80, and find inspiration in 2 Timothy chapter 4, as Paul approaches the end of his race with honesty and humility. Hunter reflects on the simple but profound needs Paul expresses in his final letter—a coat, a book, and a friend—and how these basic desires point to the spiritual essentials we need to run our own race well: the warmth of Christ, the guidance of God's Word, and the support of community. With thoughtful prayers and an encouraging invitation to gratitude, today's episode offers wisdom for persevering faith and reminds us all that, no matter where we are, we are deeply loved. Settle in, open your heart, and join us as we gather around the fire of God's love, seeking strength in His presence and Word. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Run well, fight the good fight. At the close of his life, the Apostle Paul offers us a glimpse of what it means to finish the race in faith. After pouring out his life for Christ, what does Paul most desire? He asks Timothy for three simple things: a coat, a book, and a friend. These requests reveal a deep wisdom for all who want to run well to the end. We need a coat, because life can be harsh, cold, and broken. The world is not always gentle or forgiving. Paul needed warmth and covering—something to shield him from the chill. And in our own lives, Christ becomes that covering. We are invited to clothe ourselves with Christ, to put Him on like a coat, so that His presence brings warmth to our coldest days. “All who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.” Only He can truly revive us and keep us warm. Paul also asks Timothy for the book—the Scriptures and treasured writings. To remain steady, to keep running our race to the end, we need the Word. God's Word is a constant encouragement, a source of strength and instruction for every step along the journey. Without it, we wander; with it, we persevere. And finally, Paul asks for a friend. Not just any companion, but John Mark—someone with whom he had previously disagreed so deeply that they parted ways. Yet here, at the finish line, Paul longs for reconciliation and companionship. The gospel does this: it softens old wounds, repairs broken bonds, and brings friends back together. Running well means traveling with others, leaning on community, and sharing both the struggles and the victories. A coat, a book, and a friend—these are the gifts Paul sought, and these are the same treasures we need today if we are to fight the good fight and run the race set before us. Wrap yourself in Christ, reach for God's Word, and be willing to walk alongside a friend—even those with whom you've struggled before. That is the prayer I have for my own soul, for my family, and for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord, amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Hebrews 11:32-40 NIV 1. Faith's Power through Scripture 32 And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets…..Earlier in this chapter the author commends multiple biblical heroes including Noah, Abraham, Moses and others. Here at verse 32 he says there's not enough time to continue although there are many more. The goal of the writer of Hebrews is to provide examples of those who displayed the power of faith. This provides us readers with education and inspiration from the Scriptures. There is power available to us as we are educated in what God has done through people like us, and we are inspired by what God can do through people like us. ‭‭Romans‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬.  “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.”There is education and inspiration available to us through the Scripture to empower our faith! These are not characters from fables, these are real stories about real people and more so they are our faith ancestors. Our relation is not in blood but by faith.Example: What one man can do another man can do (movie the edge)These people of God, our faith ancestors, had sins and struggles. They experienced difficult times and struggled with tears, sweat and even blood. They made mistakes, major mistakes. But they are commended here because of their faith. It is amazing what the Lord can do in us and through us when we trust him. What does it mean to trust the Lord…….leads us to point 2…2. Faith's power when we trust the Lord's plans and promises39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, Again our faith ancestors are commended for their faith not perfection. Only Jesus is perfect, amen! No one at any of our campuses is perfect. Cut that out. Stop being a poser. Be real and God will mature you and lead you in righteousness but don't act like you are farther than you are and don't look down on others. They are commended for their trust in the Lord's plans and promises, especially the promise of home. As verse 16 says earlier in the passage, they trusted in the promise of God to bring them to their heavenly country.3. Faith's power when we accept we are part of a larger family40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. Our God is larger than we realize but also we are part of a larger family than we often realize.  It's not all about YOU! Your struggles, your experiences, your gifts, your blessings. They are not all about you; they fit into a larger family context. The family is to grow up into the maturity of Christ TOGETHER. Us locally, us generationally, and us universally as part of God's big C Church!Have you ever had a terrible thing happen and thought why does God hate me? Have you ever had an amazing thing happen and thought God loves me!Have you ever had either an amazing thing or terrible thing happen and thought God is doing a work for his people? Having an understating that we are part of a larger family actually empowers our faith. It allows us to think big, not small. And it is true this life we live is part of something bigger! What would you say to Abraham? You'd say you gotta go because what God does in your life through the good bad and ugly it launches the beginning of God's people. What would you say to Paul? You'd tell him about his impact on the “future” of the church. So we can say more than anyone before us with great clarity of how God works that what happens in our Christian lives is significant not only for today but the future of our families, local church, and the future of the church.

“Last words I ever told him was I love him and keep fighting. So that's what I'm gonna live by from now on, just keep fighting, keep going no matter the circumstance but just keep on going.” Jack Bech We try to find the right words to capture the impact and emotion of this episode, but this is one, that when you listen to it, you'll understand how rare and special of a human Jack Bech is and why any NFL team who drafts him, will instantly be better for it. Whether you're an athlete, a dreamer, or someone rebuilding from a loss, this episode is a reminder: the pivot isn't the end — it's where growth begins. Ryan, Channing and Fred visit Lafayette, Louisiana, home of the Bech family and sit with Jack at the place his football career all started, St. Thomas More Catholic High School. Recent tragedy struck his family as his older brother, Tiger, was a victim of the Bourbon Street New Year's Eve attack. Jack opens up on the horrific moments of that night as he reflects on losing his brother who he idolized in every aspect from football to his faith to being his best friend since he was a young boy. In a special moment, he reveals something that he hasn't publicly shared yet about losing his brother and why now is the right time to share, With Jack projected to be a day two pick in the upcoming NFL draft, he shares that NFL teams are getting a two-for-one special as he is no longer just playing for him, but his brother too. As a wide receiver, his football journey has been anything but linear. From LSU to TCU, Jack opens up about the highs, the heartbreaks, and the headspace it takes to bet on yourself when the world starts doubting you. Coming off a dominant final year in college ball, Jack shares how he's turned grief into grit—navigating injuries, transfers, and the pressure of expectations while holding tight to his love for the game. His family's heartbreak is added-fuel towards fulfilling his dream of a long successful NFL career and names a few star wide receivers he admires and models his game after from Cooper Kupp to LSU friends Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson and Malik Nabers, taking pieces of their style to craft into his own. Jack is ready for wherever his journey takes him next and his guardian angel will be there to join him in any NFL city he calls home, and if you don't believe him, just watch. The Pivot Family will be rooting for Jack and his family this weekend as his football fate is determined. Don't forget to subscribe and comment below. Learn more about your ad choices. I'm Heather, and it's Sunday, April 6th, 2025 – day 96 of our journey through the scriptures. Gather around as we delve into the word, seeking illumination from the Holy Spirit and drawing closer to Jesus, the source of our life. Today, we'll explore the beautiful and epic love story found within the book of Ruth, specifically chapters three and four. We'll also be diving into the heartfelt words of David in Psalms 64 and 65, and wrapping up with the teachings from Second Corinthians chapter six. Join us as we witness how stories that begin with tragedy can transform into tales of eternal love and redemption. Let's warm ourselves around the fire of God's love and remember, you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Our lives are a tapestry woven by God, even when we perceive tangled threads and chaos. Looking at the life of Naomi in the book of Ruth, it begins with hardship, famine, and loss. Naomi even changes her name to Mara, meaning bitter, reflecting her feelings about her life's story. Many of us can relate to Naomi's early story filled with pain and displacement, seeing our own lives as narratives lined by tragedy. Yet, when faith is our compass, we encounter transformations we never imagined, as Ruth did. Ruth's unwavering commitment to Naomi and her God amidst uncertainties opened doors to a grand narrative—a powerful love story from which the lineage of King David arose, eventually leading to Jesus, the ultimate Redeemer. When Ruth said, "Your people will be my people, and your God my God," she planted seeds of faith that bloomed into an inheritance far greater than she could have envisioned. Jesus, our ultimate kinsman redeemer, has arrived in our own stories, not leaving them desolate but filling them with hope and redemption. Our Redeemer, far greater than Boaz, turns what we see as dead ends into vibrant paths toward love and purpose. It's a call today to hold firm to faith amidst trials, knowing that our journey is being crafted into a magnificent story of divine love. Our lives are not just for us but testimony to God's work, weaving redemption and love into every fiber, ultimately pointing back to Him. May we trust that our Redeemer lives, is active in our story, and in faith, let's step into this narrative of love woven by God, the master storyteller. That's a prayer I carry for myself, for my family, and for each of you. May we embrace and share our God-written stories. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.

Timothy Keller Sermons Podcast by Gospel in Life

Christian faith is more than thinking, because the Christian message, the gospel, is much more than an idea. It is not just an idea; it's a power.  The gospel bears fruit in you. It's a living thing. But how does faith move from being an idea to being a power? You stop just believing in God and you start believing God. Noah shows us the way.  Hebrews 11 shows us that Noah does three things that bring the power of faith into life: 1) he believes God, 2) he condemns the world, and 3) he hides in the ark. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on September 25, 1994. Series: The Nature of Faith. Scripture: Hebrews 11:1-7. Today's podcast is brought to you by Gospel in Life, the site for all sermons, books, study guides and resources from Timothy Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
