The 16:9 PODCAST IS SPONSORED BY SCREENFEED – DIGITAL SIGNAGE CONTENT Ahead of the networking mixer that Sixteen:Nine pulls together during DSE week in Las Vegas, we tried a panel discussion in the hour before the actual mixer started. I zeroed in on mergers and acquisitions as the topic, as I am aware of numerous companies either selling or buying. To get a sense of what's going on out there, and what companies are looking for, three CEOs of top software and solutions companies kindly volunteered some of their limited time to sit and field questions. We had Kevin Carbone of Scala, Tamara Bebb of Spectrio and Rick Mills of Creative Realities. My initial thought was that I'd be moderator, but I quickly realized that I was needed in 15 different places in the hour before the formal mixer started - talking to my check-in team and to staff at the venue. So I drafted Christian Armstrong of Spectrio, who has lived this both by looking for potential acquisitions when at Industry Weapon, to experiencing the transition after that company was acquired by Spectrio. I didn't do a transcript for this as there are four people speaking, and it would take a bunch of time to assign names to comments from an audio file. Creative Realities is a solutions provider heavily focused on retail, an industry that has been pretty much shuttered in the United States and everywhere other than Sweden because of COVID-19. These are rough times for store operators for the people who run them, the people who work in them, and the industries that support retail, like digital signage. While CRI's CEO Rick Mills agrees it's a dark period, he also has a lot of optimism - particularly for the retailers who have the fundamentals to be around when doors are allowed open again, and for service providers who have the tools and know-how to help address what will be new norms. Mills and I chatted last week about what CRI is doing, as well as about new pandemic-focused tools like thermal sensing screens that his company has started marketing. We spoke, as well, about his company's outlook, including thoughts of acquiring one or several of the companies who are competitors right now, but might not come out of this situation in one piece. Jason Friedman has learned that it’s not so much about what you do for your customers as much as it is how you make them feel through the experience you give them. On this episode of Inspired Insider, Jeremy picks Jason’s brain to find out how he’s built companies with outstanding customer service skills from the lowest paid employee all the way to the top. Customer experience is more than customer service. It has everything to do with getting into the customer’s shoes to know what he/she is feeling when interacting with members of your team. Jason Friedman walks through his own process of developing what he has come to call an “ideal customer script” for the purpose of doing exactly that. You can learn a ton from this high-level entrepreneur and business creator on this episode. What do you want your customers to feel after interacting with your company? Jason Friedman says that’s the place you need to start when determining how to build a great customer experience. Working backward from there to build exactly what will make that experience a reality is a big part of what will make you successful. Learn more about how to value your customers better and give them experiences that blow their minds, on this episode. You don’t always want to underpromise and over-deliver. When you do, you set up a growing, formulaic expectation in your customers where they continue to look for more and more from you without expecting to pay for it. On this episode, Jason Friedman talks about strategically over-delivering to keep your customers awed with your service but without them getting so used to it that they devalue what you’re doing for them. If you want to know how to create your ideal customer persona you need the free tool Jason Friedman makes available on this episode of Inspired Insider. Along with the tool, you’ll also receive Jason’s ebook that describes the process of developing the mindset and approach to delivering excellent customer service and experiences so that your business stands out among your competition.
