Looking Outside comes to you LIVE from the Dubai Future Forum, the largest gathering of futurists in the world. In this conversation we talk about disruptive technology and transformative blue sky innovation with Airbus Senior Vice President and Head of Disruptive Research and Technology, Dr Grzegorz (Greg) Ombach. Greg describes the mindset shift he experienced in leading innovative transformation across various industries, each with their own lifecycle - from Telecommunications with 1 to 2 year innovation cycles, then to Automotive where it moved out to 7-10 years and now in the Aerospace industry where he has 30-50 years in sight. As Greg considers future disruption, he is looking out to the next 50 years with a clear goal in mind. For Airbus, this takes the ambition of the company from accessible air travel, to sustainable air travel, and then to aerospace. Greg describes how this focus on transformation through disruptive technology requires active monitoring and proactive imagining. At Airbus, this is enabled firstly by enlisting open and curious people called 'Scouts' whose role it is to spot new trends across varied regions. These people are inhouse engineers who have a finger on the pulse of the air travel and aerospace ecosystem in which they operate daily and are therefore in the best position to assess the viability of the trends for the business. Accompanying this is the center of research where the 'Blue Sky Thinkers' live. Their job is to come up with moonshot ideas that are turned into pilots.Jo and Greg also discuss the need to look more broadly, assessing a product based on its ecosystem - what keeps the structure standing on the outside as well as the components that keep it relevant on the inside. --If Greg was not a futurist, he would be sailing around the world. He gets energy and drive from exploring new places, from discovering new places and being able to adjust the course based on the conditions. --Dr Grzegorz (Greg) Ombach, is Head of Disruptive Research & Technology, Senior Vice President at Airbus. Greg is passionate about managing technological innovation from an idea to broad market adoption. His combination of technology, leadership and commercial expertise together with a truly global outlook, having worked across Europe, the USA and China, puts him in a solid position to drive international market success for high-tech innovations. As a Head of Disruptive R&T, he shapes Airbus's ability to be the global leader in innovation and future technologies across all Airbus divisions. He works very closely with all businesses and divisions globally. Before as Executive Vice President, Head of Battery Systems Business and Group Strategy and Innovation at Dräxlmaier, he was responsible for the strategy for the business and led the entire product commercialisation, from the initial concept to high volume production of cutting-edge technology in a premium market for the automotive sector. One example is the first high volume production of an 800V battery system for the Porsche Taycan. Earlier, he worked at Qualcomm as a Global Vice President and General Manager of a breakthrough automotive technology licensing business. He also has experience from Siemens VDO, Continental and Brose. Greg holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Silesian University of Technology, Poland and a Certificate in Global Management from INSEAD, The Business School for the World. He has also been awarded Guest Professorship at the Zhejiang University in China.Connect with Greg on LinkedInLearn more about Airbus--Looking...

Dr. Bechara Saab is a classically trained chemist with a passion for understanding the intricacies of the human mind. After completing his Ph.D in neuroscience at Mount Sinai in Toronto, Dr. Saab pursued a career as a principal investigator at the University of Zurich, where he opened his own laboratory. Through his work, he made a groundbreaking discovery - a strong correlation between the lack of exploratory drive in individuals with mental illness and their symptoms. This revelation prompted him to delve deeper into the field of mental health. He faced a major obstacle in his journey however. Situated in a psychiatry hospital, he witnessed how his colleagues, despite their passion and dedication, lacked access to objective tools when delivering treatment. This limitation had hindered the progress of psychiatry for centuries. Determined to change the landscape of mental health treatment, Dr. Saab recognized the revolutionary potential of objective measurement in the field. The ability to treat the brain as a physical organ and measure its activities objectively could pave the way for more effective therapies. Dr. Saab began working on innovative methods to measure and analyze brain activity, enabling further precision for psychiatric treatments. His relentless pursuit to understand the inner workings of the mind and commitment to bridging the gap between psychiatry and objective medicine, has the potential to transform the field of mental health. With his groundbreaking research and dedication to improving therapeutic approaches, Dr. Saab is on a mission to revolutionize the treatment and understanding of mental illness. Bechara states, "The complexity of the brain mathematically indicates that not only are no two brains alike, but there have never been any two brains alike in history, nor will there ever be . . . no matter how long we exist as a species." Some key moments: Chemist turned neuroscientist researches motivation and mental illness. Rewiring brain through activity and meditation training. Meditation improves focus and endurance. Human face analysis and biomarkers for emotions. Categorizing digital therapeutics as medical devices. 14 full-time staff + 250 global partners. Singapore headquarters. North America focus. A few key takeaways: Utilizing Technology for Diagnosis: Mobio utilizes smartphone cameras and technology to diagnose stress, mental illness, and other underlying conditions. By harnessing the power of smartphones, they are able to create objective tools for mental health assessment. Importance of Brain Plasticity: The brain is constantly changing and has a remarkable level of plasticity throughout a person's life. This means that people can enhance their brain's functionality through engaging in activities repeatedly and through meditation. These activities can lead to rewiring the brain and result in increased resilience to stress, improved focus, and the ability to overcome phobias. Mind-Body Connection: The brain is in constant communication with the rest of the body. Breathing plays a significant role in modulating brain states. Slowing it down through practices such as breathing through the nose can create a positive feedback loop, helping individuals achieve a more relaxed state of mind. Holistic Approach to Brain Health: In addition to technology-based diagnosis and brain training exercises, Dr. Saab emphasizes the importance of overall health factors like exercise, good sleep, and a healthy diet as crucial components for brain health and slowing down the aging process. Integration of Brain Optimization in Fitness Studios: Dr. Saab suggests infusing brain optimization techniques, such as mindfulness training and meditation, into the programming of fitness studios and health clubs. By incorporating these practices, individuals can experience improved mental recovery after strenuous exercise. New Technology Supports Behavior Change in Hypertension Management Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is the most common modifiable cause of death in the world and affects 1.3 – 1.4 billion people worldwide including almost 50% of people over the age of 65. Consistently controlling blood pressure over time is the most crucial element in minimizing the risks of blood pressure driven diseases such as stroke, heart disease, heart failure, kidney disease, cognitive decline, vision loss, reproductive diseases and more. Consequently, episodic monitoring of blood pressure is antiquated as it does not assess blood pressure values consistently over time. New technology offers “continuous” blood pressure monitoring and personalized feedback on how specific lifestyle changes are impacting blood pressure levels. While only 50% of people with HTN are “salt sensitive” there are some dietary modifications that can reduce the intake of sodium while keeping flavor in mind. Tune into this episode with cardiologist Dr. Jay Shah and dietitian Angel Planells to learn about: · Hypertension (HTN) facts – definition, prevalence, diagnosis and management · Typical diet and lifestyle recommendations for HTN · Why episodic monitoring of blood pressure (BP) is antiquated · Average intake of and dietary recommendations for sodium · How only 50% of people with HTN are salt sensitive · How technological advances can help improve BP monitoring and management · The Hawthorne effect · How to seek out a registered dietitian nutritionist for guidance and support · Resources for health professionals and the public Full shownotes and resources at: https://soundbitesrd.com/245

In this episode of Raise the Line, we dive into the fascinating story of a very old technology, EEGs, being mined for data using a very new technology, AI, that's changing the way treatments are being developed for disorders of the brain. Joining host Michael Carrese to explain is Dr. Jake Donoghue, co-founder and CEO of Beacon Biosignals, a startup that's using AI to unlock precision medicine for various neurological, psychiatric and sleep disorders. “We utilize our AI tools to bring quantitative endpoints into clinical trials to see if the drugs are impacting brain activity,” Donoghue explains. AI's ability to quickly recognize subtle changes in electrical activity that might otherwise go unnoticed can accelerate the trial process and hopefully, approval of new therapies. Donoghue is also interested in the area of sleep medicine because of its connection to a wide variety of issues including depression, PTSD, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. “We think there's a lot of opportunity to bring quantitative insights to this fundamental state that all humans go through and map some of these really robust features of brain activity to increase understanding of disease and health.”Mentioned in this episode: https://beacon.bio/

Ensuring the advancement of education takes committed educators, especially those who are open and unafraid to relearn what's possible. From understanding new discoveries in science and history, adapting to and embracing emerging points of view, and of course, utilizing new methods of teaching, the field is always evolving. Staying on top of modern technologies, such as mixed reality and enhanced connectivity, is critical to advancing education, but doing so can be an education in itself. In this episode of The Restless Ones, we had the opportunity to sit with Dr. Robbie Melton, Associate Vice President, SMART Global Technology Innovation Center, who has made it her mission to learn something new every day in an effort to help others. Her role puts her at the forefront of teaching methodologies, where she discovers, researches, pilots and implements new technologies across education. From bringing lesson plans from textbooks into immersive learning environments, to advancing the ways students and teachers can communicate with each other, Dr. Melton is committed to partnering with technology companies to deploy the tools and services needed to keep all of us advancing along the learning curve.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Research investigating the adoption of new technologies can help to unveil global trends in learning and education. Researchers at Michigan State University, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, Texas State University and Purdue University have recently carried out a study investigating the use of devices by people in different parts of the world and with various literacy levels to access YouTube videos between 2013 and 2018. Their analyses identified key historical moments when the use of smartphones for online learning surpassed that of other information and communication technologies.
Few topics are more hotly discussed right now than anything and everything COVID related. Dr. Robert Malone shares the important science behind the current COVID vaccines that often gets left out of the discussion. He shares his perspectives on the one size fits all medical solutions being proposed today, government mandates, and the fear-based messaging we are sold which have massively impacted the state of the world. Dr. Malone is an internationally recognized scientist and one of the most qualified people to speak on this topic. He is an American virologist and immunologist and is a key architect of mRNA vaccine technology as well as the discoverer of in-vitro and in-vivo RNA transfection, while he was at the Salk Institute in 1988. He has extensive research and developmental experience in the areas of vaccines, gene-therapy, bio-defense, immunology, discovery research, and clinical trials. His discoveries in mRNA non viral delivery systems are considered the key to the current COVID-19 vaccine strategies. Dr. Malone holds numerous fundamental domestic and foreign patents in the fields of gene delivery, delivery formulations, and vaccines. This information is crucial to establish his credibility on such an important topic. It is astounding that people try to discredit doctors and scientists, like Dr. Malone, in a way to shut down any dissenting voice to the common mainstream narrative. So I am here to share this expert's perspective. The science isn't settled and we need to hear all sides. Welcome to The Ellen Fisher Podcast. In this Episode we cover: The one side fits all medical approach to COVID being proposed and implemented today versus individualized strategies If there are valid concerns about these vaccines for healthy young people, or people who are not at great risk Have these vaccines been adequately tested for adverse reactions like cancer, fertility issues or long term affects? If there is sufficient data that the covid vaccines are safe or necessary for pregnant women Natural immunity versus vaccine immunity If mRNA technologies and adenovirus vectored vaccines are experimental How effective are the current COVID vaccines at protecting from other variants? How effective are these vaccines at preventing spread? The noble cause of self sacrifice for your community and if getting this vaccine is doing what you think it's doing If people who have recovered from COVID should get the vaccine The censorship and threats made to doctors and scientists with dissenting opinions Dr. Robert Malone's proposal plan for the best way to move forward WHERE TO FIND DR. Business Mindset Thursday ~ RELOADED Merging Yesterday's Work Ethic With Today's Technology! | Dr. Rick Wallace One thing that really bothers me about the younger generations is that they have allowed technology to make them lazy. I get it; the technology has simplified and automated processes. But, instead of doubling down and doubling production, most people have fallen back to ride the tail of technological advances, instead of driving productivity with that same technology. Those who get on in this next decade will be those who are willing to sustain their current work ethic while optimizing results through technology. It is time to put in work! Six of seven meta-analyses of IVM treatment RCTs reporting in 2021 found notable reductions in COVID-19 fatalities, with a mean 31% relative risk of mortality vs. controls. During mass IVM treatments in Peru, excess deaths fell by a mean of 74% over 30 days in its ten states with the most extensive treatments. Reductions in deaths correlated with the extent of IVM distributions in all 25 states with p < 0.002. Sharp reductions in morbidity using IVM were also observed in two animal models, of SARS-CoV-2 and a related betacoronavirus. The indicated biological mechanism of IVM, competitive binding with SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, is likely non-epitope specific, possibly yielding full efficacy against emerging viral mutant strains. I'm here today with Dr. Chase Faldmo. In 2008 he recovered from a chronic illness that led him on a path of healing from the ground up or cellular level, in his terms. Fast forward 10 years, he began working alongside Dr. Jerry Tennant, who saved his life at age 17. He trained with multiple world renowned specialists in their field - including resetting the lymphatic system, awakening the brainstem, awareness of infection in the teeth & airway issues, along with retraining cranial nerves & correcting perinatal reflexes and co-founded a cutting edge toxin clearing therapy. Dr. Chase strives to find the root cause of each individual and provide them the tools of healing independently: “I teach my patients how to fish, to feed (heal) them for a lifetime, rather than relying on me.” A ‘powerful' & ‘energizing' conversation about the self healing properties of our body, principles of health & voltage and how to reclaim self ownership over our body & health! Why health is NOT about compartmentalisation + dependency on pills & practitioners; and why you should never give up hope because the body can heal physically, mentally & emotionally: - How he discovered Dr. Tennant's protocols & healing principles as a last resort - How he overcame a life-threatening illness - Why the body is self healing - How your health relates to pH & voltage - The optimal voltage: -25mv - A drop in voltage: disease, pain & infection - Healing: Increase voltage to -50mv - Why you cant heal if you lack voltage - Regeneration rates of different body parts - Principle: Body heals with sufficient voltage & proper nutrients - All chronic disease & pain occurs when we lose the ability to make new cells - Our multiple rechargeable batteries: muscles, cells, DNA - Why muscle are piezoelectric & exercise generates electrons - The overlooked importance of teeth on health as circuit breakers - How breast cancer is related to teeth - Fascia: How voltage travels through the body - The (para)sympathetic nervous system - Organs and their circuits - Scars & tattoos cutting the power line - Thyroid problems, toxins & iodine deficiency - Voltage blocks through traumatic events & emotions stored in your magnetic field - Relation between different emotions & organs - Your biofield, acupuncture lines & voltage - Detecting traumatic emotions through sound - Why polarity flips when voltage drops to zero disabling you to hold voltage - How to test & correct polarity & increase voltage - Spectrophotometry: Every atom has its frequency - Canceling out toxin frequencies - Why microbes communicate via EMF & use a bioshield making them invisible to immune system - Demagnetizing bioshields of microbes through reverse frequency so body can take care - Scalar energy: Advanced waveforms anciently used & (re)discovered by Nikolas Tesla - They importance of exercise & grounding - Brainstem & 12 cranial nerves: Why they are for most deficient and what to do about it! - Why humming is very powerful & how to create new synapses - 528 Hz: The frequency of love & healing ► About Chase Faldmo: https://tennantinstitute.com/dr-chase-faldmo/ ---------------- ★★ SHARING = CARING! Only a few years ago, the phrase consumer sleep technology was synonymous with sleep trackers, devices that monitor your nocturnal behaviours to give you insights into the mysteries of your non-waking hours. Fast forward to 2021, where we're in the middle of an innovation explosion of all type of gadgets, wearables, apps, smart home technologies which not only track, but also actively attempt to promote better sleep. In today's episode we talk to friend of the podcast, Dr Michael Grandner about this important distinction between sleep technology that measures, and tech that intervenes in our sleep. Plus we explore some of the latest science-backed sleep devices that utilise light, sound, temperature and other esoteric techniques with strange acronyms like PEMF, TDCS, all in the mission to improve our sleep. Dr Grandner helps us to understand where the science is at with all of the latest sleep-tech trends, including digital sleep coaching, Sp02 monitoring, light therapy wearables, bed cooling tech, and more. This episode's guest: Dr. Michael Grandner is the Director of the Sleep and Health Research Program at the University of Arizona, Director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Clinic at the Banner-University Medical Center, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the UA College of Medicine, with joint appointments in the Departments of Medicine, Psychology (UA College of Science), Nutritional Sciences (College of Agriculture and Life Sciences), and Clinical Translational Science. Despite being otherwise enamored by the intrigue of holography, Dr. Daniel Smalley says that unfortunately the scene in Avengers during which Tony Stark puts his gloved hands into holographic projections would not be possible; holography couldn't allow light to travel through his hands and certainly couldn't bend the light to go around it. Such imagery could, however, be created by 3D projections and Dr. Smalley, an electrical and computer engineering professor at Brigham Young University, is happy to tell us how. Listen in to learn more about holography and 3D projection technology, including its potential uses in medicine, aerospace surveillance, and telepresence. Wednesday on Adams on Agriculture NPPC Dir. of Science and Technology Dr. Dan Kovich explains the importance of gene editing for livestock production, University of Illinois ag economist Scott Irwin discusses unplanted acres and reduced yields, RFA Pres. & CEO Geoff Cooper discusses the Administration's review of its SRE policy and St. Jo, Mo farmer Gene Millard gives a crop condition update for his area.
Dr. Conrad began his career studying patterns of sleep interruption and doing work in various areas of epidemiology, and lately he's been working to improve population health and sleep conditions while entering the realm of policy and population management within larger healthcare systems. More recently, he's been working in conjunction with the University of Minnesota on the evaluation of school start time issues and the connection between sleep, obesity, and adolescent health. “Adolescents have by nature a delay in their sleep schedule, beginning roughly around the age of 12…independent of their tendency to surf the internet and study late into the evening, there's perhaps a stronger drive to go to bed later and get up later,” says Dr. Iber. As quasi-experimental evidence of this, some schools that have tried out later start times have seen better academic performance, fewer car accidents, improved moods and attention spans, and better overall sleep health. Conversely, a study out of Fairfax, VA found higher suicide rates, weight gain, and decreased academic performance among adolescents who regularly get fewer than five to six hours of sleep. So, why haven't widespread reforms been implemented? Dr. Iber provides the answer to this question and many others, discussing a range of topics to include the latest advances in sleep medicine, such as the increased use of home monitoring and wearable devices to track sleep duration among patients who can't make it to a sleep clinic for in-house studies. He also touches on the increased emphasis being placed on police officers, health care providers, bus drivers, and other public service members to improve their sleep health. According to Dr. Iber, there is a growing awareness and acceptance of the importance of sleep, which is nothing but positive for individuals and public health in general. Interested in learning more?
