Here are links to Justine's words about dissociation as a gift that helped her survive the unbearable and which starts our conversation today. Through an inspirational quote that drives the weekly content, Justine and Sarah explore various trauma areas with vulnerability and compassion that support birthing people and birth professionals. Each week, listeners leave with takeaways to utilize in their lives and/or clients. Justine and Sarah hold the stories they share with honor and respect with the hope to impart knowledge, increase understanding, and bear witness to this challenging topic. Sarah is a licensed mental health counselor, educator, and mom of three. She walks with a story of trauma from before and as a result of her perinatal experience. Justine supports survivors of trauma through perinatal coaching and childbirth education. As well as being a mother of three, she holds a Ph.D. on representations of consent and sexual violence. Morning Alexander has been supporting women in the perinatal period for over a decade and have been certified as a birth and postpartum doula for nearly 5 years. She has worked as a nurse tech in the Medical ICU for the past 4 years and is graduating this summer with my BSN and will be working as a labor and delivery nurse, with the ultimate goal of becoming a certified nurse midwife. Morning has a history of childhood trauma that was largely undealt with until after the births of her children. She had a very traumatic birth with her firstborn but it wasn't until years later, as she was diving deeper into birth and trauma training that she came to understand her own experiences. Through her continuing education and years of therapy, she has found not only healing and wholeness but a deep passion for being trauma-informed as a provider and supporting other women in finding healing and empowerment in their births. Maya Ehnat was brought up to be comfortable with birth, and so from the get-go, her language and approach weren't fear-based. Beyond that, much of the preparation she did during pregnancy was guided by a desire to minimize trauma and bring heaps of pleasure and joy into the experience. She shares with Adriana how although her first birth was long and quite challenging, she wouldn't describe it as painful. Now her second birth? In today's episode, Erica celebrates TRB's two year anniversary through re-sharing the launch announcement!
Once I realized in college that marketing didn't have to come from a nasty place. That marketing could actually be changing, the way people purchase is changing so wouldn't the marketing? In college we took persuasion classes, learned about Cult marketing, how people think, why they are primed to purchase or fall into something vs. another. It was very interesting, but I always wondered how social media would impact this type of marketing. Don't get me wrong, there are still many marketers that use social media in a way I am not aligned with. But I do believe that there is a way to market yourself without feeling nasty or out of alignment while you do so - even more, your business will depend on making that shift, or it wont survive in today society. Marketing to me is about sharing my knowledge with others so they can discern if we think similarly or not, and if they would like to opt into our content conversations, services etc. Its not about pushing, persuading, or manipulating. Its about sharing, connecting, and creating for one another. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
2023. Not the best of year for us ... and for many that we know. But with one inspirational holiday text from her good friend, Nathan, CH reframes her look back on a challenging year, finds the light within, and looks ahead to 2024. Show Notes CH's visions for 2024 (which some might call resolutions) are as follows: To remember to turn on the light (cue Albus Dumbledore) To find the joy in the simplest things To dream big To believe in the kindness of strangers To trust the path To not succumb to fear, worry or doubt To return to favorite places and perhaps find new ones To be present in the moment and enjoy the space in that moment - however it may be defined The Happy Holidays message featuring actress Danielle Savre's (Maya Bishop) inclusive combination of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanza into a single word can be found on this reel via the official Station 19 Instagram page.
This Q&A conversation is based off the sermon titled "Suffering Reframed" given on Nov. 19 2023 based on 1 Peter 4:12 - 19.
1Peter 4:12 - 19Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And“If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.
31st Sunday in Ordinary Time This week's passage: Matthew 23:1-12 NLTJesus Criticizes the Religious Leaders23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses. 3 So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don't follow their example. For they don't practice what they teach. 4 They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.5 “Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra long tassels. 6 And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats of honor in the synagogues. 7 They love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi.'8 “Don't let anyone call you ‘Rabbi,' for you have only one teacher, and all of you are equal as brothers and sisters. 9 And don't address anyone here on earth as ‘Father,' for only God in heaven is your Father. 10 And don't let anyone call you ‘Teacher,' for you have only one teacher, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you must be a servant. 12 But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

Analytics. In a world of creators and content, these 1s and 0s can seemingly dictate or destroy our lives. With that in mind, it's no wonder why one might obsess over metrics, algorithms, and values; perhaps even to an unhealthy point. In today's episode, Dre discusses the concept he is using to take back control of his headspace with regard to analytics and metrics. It's time to reframe and retrain our thinking when it comes to this game of numbers and how process all of this data. For Stuart Shanker, the possibility of a truly just and free society begins with how we see and nurture our children.Shanker is renowned for using cutting-edge neuroscience to help children feel happy and think clearly by better regulating themselves. In his new book, Reframed, Shanker explores self-regulation in wider, social terms. Whereas his two previous books, Calm, Alert, and Learning and Self-Reg, were written for educators and parents, Reframed, the final book in the trilogy, unpacks the unique science and conceptual practices that are the very lifeblood of Self-Reg, making it an accessible read for new Self-Reggers.Reframed is grounded in the three basic principles of Shanker Self-Reg®:- There is no such thing as a bad, lazy, or stupid kid.- All people can learn to self-regulate in ways that promote rather than constrict growth.- There is no such thing as a "fixed outcome": trajectories can always be changed, at any point in the lifespan, if only we have the right knowledge and tools.Only a society that embraces these principles and strives to practice them, argues Shanker, can become a truly just society. The paradigm revolution presented in Reframed not onlyhelps us understand the harrowing time we are living through, but inspires a profound sense of hope for the future. Shanker shows us how to build a compassionate society, one mind at a time.

Dozens of schoolgirls in Iran have been admitted to hospital this week after reportedly being poisoned by gas whilst at school. Over 1,000 girls have been affected by this since November and many Iranians suspect the poisonings are a deliberate attempt to force girls' schools to close. The government hasn't said whether it believes they are premeditated. We hear from Faranak Amidi, BBC Near East Women's Affairs correspondent and Azadeh Pourzand, Human Rights Researcher at SOAS. So-called 'TikTok protests' have continued to take place in Britain's schools as hundreds of pupils rebelled against teachers over new rules with some clips attracting millions of views. Although the specific grievances vary from school-to-school, the social media trend appears to be spreading, with children in Southampton, Blackpool and Essex staging demonstrations in the last few days that were posted on the platform. Protests over a ban on school skirts at an Oxfordshire school led to police being called and the school being forced to temporarily close. That school has now U-turned on its uniform policy. So where is the balance between standing up for your rights and breaking school rules? Can the two ever be compatible or always at odds. And how can girls and young women in particular learn to find their voice and be listened to? Technology and innovation journalist and author, Becca Caddy, Sangeeta Pillai- the founder of Soul Soutras, and activist, and founder of Love Your Period, Molly Fenton discuss. How do you truly reframe your thoughts so you can flip the script? In this special bonus episode from a live training I held this week, I am going to talk all about how choosing to change the way you think about something, reframe it, so you can change your life. Your past is not going to change. Things that have happened, you have no control over. But you do have control over how you think about those things. I've recently launched my new life coaching group, Reframed and this is exactly what I coach on...changing the way you think so you can change the outcome. Let's talk about it today! Hit the Highlights(19:22) How we think about the things that are keeping us stuck (22:36) Rolodex of feelings produce results(25:37) The shame and blame spiral (30:07) Everyone has that one situation that can get you stuck(35.22) Choose to think differently so you don't spiral(38:07) You can't lose with strategy combined with the power of Heaven(54:22) We do have the power to change things by reframing our thoughts. Lieutenant Governor Janice McGeachin, who has cozied up to white nationalists, is running to unseat him. Now, a group called Take Back Idaho is raising money in an uphill fight to push far-right Republicans out of power.
