This afternoon, David began a conversation about the DOJ's recent mission to imprison as many people as possible related to J6 before the election, citing the cases of Curtis Davis, Dana Jean Bell, Robin Lee Reierson, and Henry Philip. Following a short break, David welcomed John Strand, the creative director for AFLDS, to the show. Together, the pair discussed the persecution he has faced as a result of peacefully protesting at J6, along with the 20-year sentence he is currently facing. After John's departure, David touched on Donald Trump's recent campaign move, working at McDonald's, and Josh Shapiro threatening to sue Elon, before closing with a prayer.
A hidden intricate web links hundreds of popular food brands to work done by US prisoners. A two-year Associated Press (AP) investigation found that everything from grains, meat, eggs, and milk had been grown, harvested, or produced by incarcerated people and their labor finds its way into the supply chains of some of the most recognized brands and largest food companies in the world. The 13th Amendment to the US Constitution abolished slavery and involuntary servitude except as punishment for a crime. AP spoke to prisoners who were working on plantation soil, many were making pennies an hour. Some getting nothing at all. Prisoners can sometimes be punished for refusing to work, even thrown into solitary confinement. And if they are hurt on the job, they often have little recourse. The agriculture sector is just a fraction of the overall prison labor industry, which includes everything from public works to stamping license plates. “What the inmates learn while they're here, they're learning a skillset. […] They're learning to pay back their debt to society,” said Brevard County Sheriff, Wayne Ivey. But prisons and corporations benefit from inmate labor. The goods wind up in the supply chains of giants like Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, and Costco just to name a few. Andrea Armstrong, a law professor at Loyola University New Orleans said, “They aren't eligible for workman's compensation. Nor are they protected by other worker safety laws because they're not considered quote-unquote employees.” “We're gonna have to figure out different ways to make our system a better system instead of just exploiting labor and then calling it crime prevention,” said Curtis Davis, Prison reform advocate, who served more than 25 years at Angola. The AP also found American prison labor linked to the supply chains of multinational companies such as Cargill that export goods all over the world. This is happening even though Washington has banned imports and even seized goods that were produced by prison or forced labor abroad. Several companies told the AP they have policies in place restricting suppliers from using incarcerated workers. Cargill acknowledged buying goods from American prison farms and said it would determine the next steps. This article was provided by The Associated Press.

Louisiana Lefty is on winter break, but still releasing mini-pods. On this episode, host Lynda Woolard speaks with Maria Harmon and Laramie Griffin of Decarcerate Louisiana, as they recount what went wrong with the November 8th vote on Constitutional Amendment 7, which sought to remove slavery from our state constitution. Little was known in Louisiana about the fact that we were part of a bigger national movement, and were one of the Freedom Five, in which four other states also put slavery on their 2022 midterm ballots. Louisiana was the only state where the amendment failed. Through this conversation, as well as others linked to below, we're hoping to put in a fuller context what happened and what needs to happen in Louisiana to remove the stain of slavery from our current constitution. Ultimately, this is a call to action, to follow the lead of the criminal justice reform groups who are working on this issue, and to get engaged starting as early as when the opportunity to put this up for a state-wide vote returns to the Louisiana legislature in the upcoming term. Imagine a world with a private airport around every corner and an airplane in every garage. Where your form of ID could just as easily be a pilot's license as a driver's license and your weekend is spent with people with names like "Red" and "Speed" and "Ace". That's the world Walt Winnicki grew up in, learning to fly on Long Island in the early 1950s. And that's the world that Bob Mott and the Bayport Aerodrome Society is trying to preserve. On this episode, both men relate their long history and love of flying. We also discuss the lost world of private airfields and the near miraculous survival of the Bayport Aerodrome, built by Curtis Davis out of his family's corn field right after World War II. We heal from the heart by expressing the thoughts of the mind. So tune in to this episode and gain a different perspective, or maybe even learn something new. Remember, always get better each and everyday and BE LEGENDARY.

Dr. Blynd seems to be an enigma even unto himself. He was born is Syracuse, New York and was raised in Orangeburg, S.C. He led a lively childhood filled with a loving family, extreme sports (before their was a word for it, like friendly nocturnal BB-gun wars, where you pick friends for their shooting ability and athletic dexterity, like you would a pickup basketball game), Black-empowerment movements, social and economic segregation, Boy Scouts (one of two all-Black troops in the State), fishing in lakes and ponds, red-light funk-a-thons (parties) hosted by the “Kick-up Crew,” skeet shooting, extreme diving (don’t ask him, his Mom is still around), and all of the aesthetic flavor of growing up on a HBCU (Historically Black College & University), South Carolina State University and going to Felton Laboratory School (1st through 6th grades) located smack-dab in the middle of the University. He was raised (loved, chastised and praised) by two extraordinary and unconditionally loving Black academicians (mother, a retired literature professor, and his now-deceased father, a Dean of Agriculture at SCSU). Dr. Blynd was given guided yet unbounded room for exploration (physical, mental, nonsensical, spiritual) and he exercised and leveraged the leeway to its fullest extent. At a very early age (in fact the first book report he recalls reciting in front of his first grade class began with, “I like to read all kinds of books…to entertain myself.) Now as an advanced reader in his early years, his comprehension level was just shy of my reading speed. He saw books as portals to other worlds, and often would enter into them consciously and otherwise unawares.
