Something happens in your life when you have a personal encounter with God's love. Something that changes you. I'm sure you know that God loves you. But do you only know that on a surface level? For some, it's a mere blanket statement of faith – nothing more than a thing you say because it's what everyone else says. “Jesus loves me this I know – for the Bible tells me so.” But God wants his love to reach you in a deep, personal way to the core of your identity. More than just because the Bible tells you so, but because you've personally experienced his love. What God has for you is this, “Jesus loves me this I know – for he met me in my soul.” Before you are anything else, you are loved by God. Before you are pretty enough, smart enough, or good enough in any way, you are LOVED BY GOD. Before the first thing you did right or after the last thing you got wrong, you are loved by God. Your mere existence proves the fact of his love for you. But because you've had his love every day of your life whether you acknowledged it or not, maybe it's just become ordinary and unimpressive to you. Sure, I'm loved by God – but what about these bills? Yeah, I have God's love, but what about all the things I don't seem to have right now? What about this mess? What about this problem? What about next month? God's love seems irrelevant in my real life of real struggles. Really, what does God's love do for you? Well, besides the fact that his love for you created you, gives you breath, saves your soul, and gives you a promised eternity in paradise … there's more. More for your real life right here today. Satan can't take away the fact that God's love gives you life. He can't cancel your promised destiny in heaven. But what Satan can actively do is make your world so busy, so loud, and so fussy with absolute nonsense that you forfeit the power of God's love here and now. And then here you are walking around so totally loved by a God who holds all the power in the world, and totally unaware of how his love can radically change your life TODAY. Yes, today. God's love can change your experience in this day of life. God's love can open your eyes to what you've never seen before. God's love can change your thoughts and fill your entire existence with peace and joy. God's love can supernaturally strengthen you to do things you've never ever been able to do before. That's what the enemy doesn't want you to know. Satan wants to keep you stuck in your pit of darkness, your overwhelm of sadness, your little hell of stress and worry. Why? Because there you are ineffective to share the light of Jesus. There you are just another soul trudging through the existence of life waiting for it all to be over. Wait – has the enemy of your soul tricked you into living like that? If so, recognize at the core of his trickery is the web of lies from the pits of hell telling you that you're not REALLY loved by God. His lies tell you that you're just one of millions and millions of people and life is just happening to you. His lies tell you you're not really important to the creator of the Universe and there's no divine power over the details of your days. His lies tell you your prayers have no power, you don't really hear from the Holy Spirit, and God Almighty is a little too busy to constantly be caring about you. Hmmmm – you've heard those lies, haven’t you? Have you started to believe them? How do you overcome a lie? WITH TRUTH! Here's the truth from God's word. Ephesians 3:19, “May you experience the LOVE OF CHRIST, though it I too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” This is the scripture directly after yesterday's verse giving us the measurements of God's love through the cross. Remember, we can look at the cross and know how WIDE God's love is, how LONG God's love is, how HIGH God's love is and how DEEP God's love is. But it's not enough to just know about these measurements of love through the cross, you must EXPERIENCE THIS LOVE. No you will never fully understand it, but you can still experience it. You will never have the right words to express his love, but you will feel it deep within your soul when you encounter it. Jesus loves me this I know, for he met me in my soul. May you EXPERIENCE the love of Christ. The Greek word translated into ‘experience' in this scripture is ginōskō. This is a word for knowing firsthand after a personal encounter. It's deeper than knowing because you were taught or told – it's a knowing because you've experienced it. It's a shift from “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so” – to – “Jesus loves me this I know, for he met me in my soul.” It's a shift from “I know God loves me”, to “I have BEEN loved by God in a way that changed me.” How does God's love change you? It completes you. It fills that hole that absolutely nothing else can. You can achieve everything you've ever wanted to achieve, and still you need God's love. You can have purely wonderful relationships all around you, and still you need God's love. You can have the perfect body to include the hair, the clothes, the eyes, the smile, absolutely all the things, and you will still need God's love. You can have everyone's approval and applause, and you will still feel a void within – a void that is only filled by God's love. You can have everything – and everything will never be enough, without God's love. And here's why – Completeness comes from experiencing the love of God through Jesus. Again, look at our scripture, “May you EXPERIENCE the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. THEN you will be made COMPLETE with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” The answer for your emptiness is the love of Jesus. The solution for your longing is the love of Jesus. Yes, that wide, long, high and deep love represented through the cross. Have you experienced his love for you? Oh how I pray that you would be caught by God and completely swept away in his love. I can't give you a formula for experiencing that. I can't tell you, go to this exact place, pray this exact prayer, wait for 5 minutes, then his love will meet you and change everything. It's simply not like that. God's love meets us each in different ways at different times. I specifically remember the first time I experienced God's love on this level. It was at one of my worst moments. A moment where I was utterly disappointed and broken by the way my steps of faith had been rewarded by more hardship. I had grown angry and bitter in the hardship, convinced God has messed up. Sitting on my couch that day, I wrestled with my true feelings and tried to suppress it all. My husband said, “Pamela, why don’t you just say it – you're mad at God.” I had never been told I could have that feeling and still be loved. I never knew God was bigger than my disappointment. I seriously thought I would be struck by lightning if I told God how I really felt about the crap happening in our life. But in that moment I just couldn't hold it back any longer. I screamed out, “God, I can't believe this is how you repay faithfulness. I can't believe this is your good plan for me. I'm so angry right now.” And then I held my breath waiting for the withdrawal of his presence. But instead of being struck by lightening, I was struck by his unfailing love. I personally experienced the LOVE of CHRIST there in my weakest and most vulnerable moment. He didn't turn away from me, instead I could feel his peace fill me. In unspeakable ways, I was loved like I had never been loved before. In my most unlovable moment, I was fully loved. That was a turning point for me. I stepped out of being the victim and I harnessed new power. Yes, power. Power that comes from God when you experience the love of Christ. Things didn't instantly change for us, but I can look back and see exactly how God was working for good in every detail. Our struggles prepared us for the outpouring of blessings to come. We came out stronger, more grounded, stripped down of all the excess, and our hands were open to receive what God had for us next. Honesty allows us to experience God's life changing love. You don't have to pretend you're okay. You don't have to play along like you're happy about the way things turned out. You don't have to smile your way through the pain. God can handle your honest emotions – but you have to surrender them to him. When you do, you'll be met with a love you could never earn. And that love changes everything. Paul writes that once you experience the true measure of God's love that is wide, long, high and deep, “THEN YOU WILL BE MADE COMPLETE WITH ALL THE FULLNESS OF LIFE AND POWER THAT COMES FROM GOD.” To have fullness means you lack nothing that is needed – you are perfectly filled. Filled with LIFE and POWER. Have you ever met someone that is filled with LIFE and POWER? They just glow different don't they? There's something magnetic about them. That's the power of Jesus' love within them. If you want it, it's available to you too. You'll never understand this love, but you can live in it. Faith is required here. Surrender is your next step. Go ahead and fall apart and let his loving arms catch you. Experience his love. This is the flow: • Experience God's love • Be made whole in his love • Live filled with God's life and power The life God has for you and the power to fully live that life only comes AFTER experiencing his love. You don't get that overflowing life without allowing a close relationship with God. You don't get to stand on the bank, sis – You are being called into the waterfall of his love. This is not a spectator sport. Spectators see others be filled with life and power and walk away wondering why they can't have the same. This is going to require you to get fully soaked in the flow of God's love! This is my genuine love-filled prayer for every single soul listening today – Oh how I want you to experience God's true love for you personally. I have, and it changed everything. It can do the same for you. May you EXPERIENCE the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. THEN you will be made COMPLETE with all the FULLNESS of LIFE and POWER that comes from God. Daily Dose of Hope May 11, 2026 Name of God: El Elyon – The Most High God Scripture: Genesis 14:18-20, Psalm 7:17, 52:2, 78:35, Daniel 4 Prayer: Exalted El Elyon, we worship you as One who has the final say. When You speak, demons tremble and the earth quakes. Your voice drowns out and silences every other voice that is raised. You are the final authority for all things, for all time. What You say is so. You say what You mean and You mean what You say. Your word is fixed. It stands firm in the heavens. We can and we will take you at your Word. Thank you, El Elyon. Amen. Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that complements the New Hope Church daily Bible reading plan. We are currently in a study on the names of God in the Old Testament. As we have mentioned, in the ancient world, names held a great deal of significance, indicating aspects of someone's character and purpose. Certainly, it is the same with God. God has many different names, all of which demonstrate one aspect of His character. Today, we are discussing El Elyon, which means most high God. The Hebrew, Elyon, occurs thirty-one times in the Old Testament. The equivalent Aramaic word, Hilay, occurs ten times, all in the book of Daniel. El Elyon is how God refers to himself after Abram rescues his nephew Lot from the pagan kings who have taken him from Sodom. Abram ends up pledging allegiance to El Elyon, most high God, and refusing to take any spoils of war. By now, we have learned that the word El is Hebrew for God. Elyon is Most High. El Elyon indicated that God is not just mighty, but Almighty. He is sovereign over all things and can control all things. This name for God also takes into account God's transcendence. When we say that the God of the Bible is transcendent, we mean that He is high and lifted up far above our human comprehension. God exists above, independent of, and surpasses the limits of any kind of material creation, time, or human comprehension. El Elyon is the supernatural Creator, who is separate and above all His creation. Thus, it goes without saying that no idol, god, or created being should be worshiped or exalted over the Lord because He is superior in every way. We find this name of God in the Psalms quite a bit. Here are just a few examples: · Psalm 7:17, I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High (El Elyon). · Psalm 21:7, For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High (El Elyon) he will not be shaken. · Psalm 46:4, There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High (El Elyon) dwells. · Psalm 47:2, How awesome is the Lord Most High (El Elyon), the great King over all the earth! · Psalm 57:2, I cry out to God Most High (El Elyon), to God, who fulfills his purpose for me. Though we live on the other side of the cross, this name still holds significant meaning for us. Nothing can hold importance above God in our hearts. He must be the God Most High over anything we may put before him. The gods of this age aren't metal statues. It's not that simple. Our gods come in the form of finances, jobs, family, or success. Is El Elyon above everything else in your life? Blessings, Pastor Vicki

Within the Old and New Testaments, the figure known as the Most High God is portrayed to be only one person. Sermon: Jesus the Son of the Most High God, Series: Who is Jesus? Rev. Matt Howell, Mark 5:1-20
He Is Series Day 2-El Elyon (Most High God) Genesis 14:18-20 “And King Melchizedek of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was priest of God Most High. He blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, maker of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!” And Abram gave him one-tenth of everything.” The next title for God is El Elyon. This means Most High God. If we look at how this is used in today's verse, we see two different ways of showing that our God is the Most High God. First, King Melchizedek of Salem says that God is the maker of heaven and earth. Next, he says that he delivered your enemies into your hands. I am sure we have all had times when we needed El Elyon to deliver our enemies into our hands. I can think of one instance in particular that a friend of mine just went through. She had a family member betray her very deeply. He did some work for her and then said she owed far more than she really owed him. He made up all sorts of lies and, in the end, decided to sue her. She couldn't believe that a family member would be doing this, and it caused so much pain, stress, and worry. However, she knows God, and she trusts God. This is a great time to call upon El Elyon to deliver her enemies into her hand. She did not know what she would do if she had to pay all the money the family member said she owed. Even though she had the truth on her side, there were several times throughout this whole ordeal that it looked like things were not going in her favor. There were lies that were told and believed by the courts. However, she also had records and receipts for things she had paid for, and so she knew she was right and he was in the wrong. But would the courts see it that way? Would God come through for her? Would he save her from this injustice? I hope you all know the answer to that question. Yes, of course, he would save her. Of course, he would not let evil win. The court eventually advised the family member to make a deal that was actually fair, and she did not pay more than she felt she owed. God is so good!! Here is one thing that I think we need to remember when we call up God. He is going to answer our prayers in the best way possible. That is not always the way we want Him to, and it is definitely not always in the timing that we want Him to. Remember, we are talking about the Most High God. He is the most high. That means His plan is better than our plan. I know you don't want to hear that, but it is true. That also means that His time is better than our time. I know you didn't want to hear that either. We can get tired of waiting for the Lord's time. My friend was in this legal battle for years. Not one year, not even two, I think it has been more than two years. I am sure she cried out to the Lord many times over those two years. I am sure you have too. That's ok, keep crying out. God wants us to keep asking. He wants us to keep turning to Him. He also wants us to know He is with us through it all. Even if He is not answering your prayer immediately because of some reason or another, that doesn't mean He is not in it with you. He is the one giving you the strength to keep going to work or the provisions to keep paying the lawyer. He is there with you every step of the way. There was a time in Tony's career when he had a boss who did not treat him well at all. She was always talking down to him and telling him he wasn't very good at his job. Tony has always been great at his job. His previous supervisors had praised his writing skills, as he is an excellent writer. This boss told him he didn't know how to write. It was awful, and he hated going to work. Every Sunday night, he would get very sad because it meant he would need to go to work the next day. He lived for the weekends. I am not sure if Tony prayed for God to be delivered from this. I know I prayed, though. I prayed that whole year for her to be removed from command. I prayed that God would change her heart. I prayed that the military would move her. I prayed they would move Tony to another position. I didn't know what the solution was, but I knew God did, and I prayed he would deliver Tony from this situation. She did eventually move on, and the next commander was so much better. Aside from that one commander, he has always had amazing bosses. I am not sure why Tony had to go through that one year. I am not sure why things didn't get better faster, but I do know that God was with him during that whole year. He gave Tony great friends so that he could enjoy his weekends and get a break. Despite this boss, God provided an amazing experience for us on that assignment. We got to go on trips, hang out with friends, and just enjoy life. I know that our Most High God was providing amazing things for us, even in the middle of that struggle. What about you? When you look at your life, when you look through the years, can you see where the Most High God was delivering your enemies into your hands? When did you need a problem solved, and God solved it for you? Are you in this situation right now? Do you feel attacked on all sides, and you need to be delivered? Call out to El Elyon, He is the Most High God. Nothing is stronger than Him. Nothing is more powerful than Him. He is above all the rest. Call out to Him, and He will deliver your enemies into your hands! Dear Most High God, please bless each person listening today. El Elyon, thank you for delivering our enemies into our hands. Thank you for knowing what to do and when to do it. Lord, help us to be patient while we wait for you to deliver us. Help us to trust that you are the Most High and you will save us. Please help us to keep coming to you and to keep calling out to you. We love you Lord and we ask all this in accordance with your will and in Jesus's holy name, Amen! Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. I look forward to meeting you here again tomorrow. Remember, Jesus loves you just as you are, and so do I! God is on your side and we are both rooting for you! Have a blessed day! Today's Word from the Lord was received in September 2025 by a member of my Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group. Micah 5:1 Now muster your troops, O daughter of troops; siege is laid against us; with a rod they strike the judge of Israel on the cheek. Micah 5:2-6 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. 3 Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel. 4 And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth. 5 And he shall be their peace. When the Assyrian comes into our land and treads in our palaces, then we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight princes of men; 6 they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its entrances; and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian when he comes into our land and treads within our border. · God's gracious promise. Micah 5:2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. Matthew 2:3-6 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; 4 and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. 5 They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet: 6 “‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.'” Micah 5:3 Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel. Micah 4:9-10 Now why do you cry aloud? Is there no king in you? Has your counselor perished, that pain seized you like a woman in labor? 10 Writhe and groan, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor, for now you shall go out from the city and dwell in the open country; you shall go to Babylon. There you shall be rescued; there the Lord will redeem you from the hand of your enemies. Genesis 35:16-19 Then they journeyed from Bethel. When they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel went into labor, and she had hard labor. 17 And when her labor was at its hardest, the midwife said to her, “Do not fear, for you have another son.” 18 And as her soul was departing (for she was dying), she called his name Ben-oni; but his father called him Benjamin. 19 So Rachel died, and she was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem) Galatians 4:4-7 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. · God's great King. Micah 5:4-5a And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth. 5 And he shall be their peace. John 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Deuteronomy 33:12 Of Benjamin he said, “The beloved of the Lord dwells in safety. The High God surrounds him all day long, and dwells between his shoulders.” Ephesians 2:13-14 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility Isaiah 9:6-7 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. · God's victorious plan. Micah 5:5b-6 When the Assyrian comes into our land and treads in our palaces, then we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight princes of men; 6 they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its entrances; and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian when he comes into our land and treads within our border. Micah 5:7 Then the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass, which delay not for a man nor wait for the children of man. Micah 5:8-9 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep, which, when it goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, and there is none to deliver. 9 Your hand shall be lifted up over your adversaries, and all your enemies shall be cut off. Matthew 16:18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell[ shall not prevail against it. Revelation 12:10-11 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Respond | Connect | Next Steps The post Christmas 1 appeared first on Charleston Baptist Church.
Psalm 139:13-16 MESSAGEOh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb.I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you,The days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived one day.One thing that is, for sure, being communicated in this passage is the intentionality of a creator creating. Nothing in this passage speaks to accidents. Nothing in this passage speaks to randomness. Everything in this passage speaks of grandeur, beauty and care.In another translation of the first two verses of this passage it reads“You made all the delicate inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mothers womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex your workmanship is marvelous. It's interesting to think of God as a master craftsman, molding something from the inside out to be so wonderfully complex. Often we look at ourselves and we give ‘complex' a negative connotation. But in this passage there is honor being attached to complexity. What about you sometimes seems too complex?A lot of us walk around feeling like, at the very best, we are a random addition to the human race, and we discount what makes us different or complex. Not often do we celebrate ourselves as a unique, complex and marvelous workmanships of a master creator. Can you look at yourself and accept that the way you are created, in all your wonderful complexity, points to the intentional, deliberate care of a master creator who believed that this world was better with you in it? Nothing about you or your life is random.Let's pray together: “Father, while I may struggle to use words about myself like “complex, marvelous, and precious,” thank You that You have expressed those feelings toward me. I want to believe my worth in and through You and I want to receive my identity from You. As above, so below.”
These are the words of Jesus:Mark 12:30-31“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these. We are told by Jesus to love God with all of us - heart, soul, mind and strength. That is not possible if we are living a fragmented and splintered life. If we not take care to integrate all those facets of our lives - our mind, our heart, our soul and strength we are not bringing our all to Him.To integrate our whole self requires a discipline of self-care - to know all those parts of us. That is why we check in with ourselves every day in our time together to know ourselves so that our Father can know us.Jesus goes a step further in this passage, in two words that we very often overlook.Listen carefully as I read Jesus words to us again.‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'Loving yourself is foundational to loving others. Not loving yourself in a superficial way, but in a holy way.Psalm 139You shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb.I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made!Do you see yourself the way Gods sees you? Can you recognize the beauty He sees in you? Because He does - and He wants you to see it too.Let's use this Psalm to pray:Father, You shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb. Here is an odd thing about Christians and the New Testament. There are many things that managed to slip by the Nicene Council when they were purging the gnosis from scripture. There's plenty of gnosis still in the New Testament, but Christians kind of skip over that part. The Bible says we are the “sons of Elohim,” usually translated as “children of God.” In the modern vernacular I use in A Simple Explanation of the Gnostic Gospel, we are the fractals of the Spirit of God. We are the fruit of the elohim above, who are themselves the divisions of the Adonai Elohim (Lord of the Fullness and Son of the Father God Above All Gods). So when Jesus said we are elohim, sons of God, he was saying we, too, are the fractal elohim of God. Jesus was not the only son of God. We are all the sons of God, or the children of the Adonai Elohim.
After years of ministry, Chantal Santiago and her husband became accustomed to the faith-filled walk of the seasoned believer. After founding a ministry and finding success in the business world, they realized it had been a long time since they had really needed God to come through for them. They began to wonder, what would it look like to set an impossible, crazy faith goal that only God can accomplish? As sons and daughters of the most High God, we have direct access to partner with God in the fullness of His might. This is why God often gives believers lofty dreams, because it is by His power that they are achieved. Chantal emphasizes the importance of speaking life over our situations because partnering with God requires our unwavering faith.Purchase Chantal's book, "The Voice of a Queen: Unleashing the Power of Purposeful Words" here. Psalm 78:39-72 The Treasury of David - He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents. 56 Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies: 57 But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow. 58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images. 59 When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:

It's important for us to note that just because we are Christians and we are sons of the most High God, this does not exempt us from going through hard times and tribulations in life. No where did the Bible promise us that we will not face things that make us question who we are or that we wouldn't experience things that bring us sadness or regret or heartache. As a matter of fact, the Bible time and time again warns us that we will be persecuted for Christ's sake and that many troubles will come. However, though we cannot stop us ever being attacked, we can declare the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living as He protects, guides and leads us beside still waters for His namesake.Rebroadcast: Season 2: Episode 14Enjoyed This Episode or Have Feedback? Psalm 139:13-16 MESSAGE Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb.I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you,The days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived one day. One thing that is, for sure, being communicated in this passage is the intentionality of a creator creating. Nothing in this passage speaks to accidents. Nothing in this passage speaks to randomness. Everything in this passage speaks of grandeur, beauty and care. In another translation of the first two verses of this passage it reads “You made all the delicate inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mothers womb. What about you sometimes seems too complex? A lot of us walk around feeling like, at the very best, we are a random addition to the human race, and we discount what makes us different or complex. Not often do we celebrate ourselves as a unique, complex and marvelous workmanships of a master creator. Can you look at yourself and accept that the way you are created, in all your wonderful complexity, points to the intentional, deliberate care of a master creator who believed that this world was better with you in it? Nothing about you or your life is random. Let's pray together: “Father, while I may struggle to use words about myself like “complex, marvelous, and precious,” thank You that You have expressed those feelings toward me. I want to believe my worth in and through You and I want to receive my identity from You. As above, so below.”

These are the words of Jesus: Mark 12:30-31 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these. We are told by Jesus to love God with all of us - heart, soul, mind and strength. That is not possible if we are living a fragmented and splintered life. If we not take care to integrate all those facets of our lives - our mind, our heart, our soul and strength we are not bringing our all to Him. To integrate our whole self requires a discipline of self-care - to know all those parts of us. That is why we check in with ourselves every day in our time together to know ourselves so that our Father can know us. Jesus goes a step further in this passage, in two words that we very often overlook. Listen carefully as I read Jesus words to us again. ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' Loving yourself is foundational to loving others. Not loving yourself in a superficial way, but in a holy way. Psalm 139 You shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb. I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! Do you see yourself the way Gods sees you? Can you recognize the beauty He sees in you? Because He does - and He wants you to see it too. Let's use this Psalm to pray: Father, You shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb. I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! And with all that I am, I love and worship you. As above, so below.

Ps111:9; Php2:6-11 The Most High God
(Matthew 24:45-51) Regardless of the loftiness of your worldly title, we are all but lowly servants to the only High God. Someday, we will bow before our Heavenly Ruler and give Him an account of our stewardship. God Owns EverythingNow, to be sure, the message that God owns everything—and we don't—is something we need to hear repeatedly. That's probably why the Bible repeats this teaching several times.Job needed reminding. Job 38:1-5 reads, “Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: ‘Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements—surely you know!'” Psalm 24:1-2 tells us, “The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. And of course, Colossians 1:16 reads, “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”This is a message that we need to hear constantly. It frees us from getting too attached to our money and possessions because they're not our money and possessions—they belong to God.Putting Things Into PerspectiveYou may have heard the story about the believer who took this to heart. He'd saved and saved to buy a new car, but soon after taking possession, he got into a fender bender. But he didn't get upset. He shrugged it off and thought, “I wonder why God wanted His car to get in an accident?”That would undoubtedly be difficult, but it makes things much easier if you think of yourself only as a steward and not an owner. Okay, we've got stewardship covered, but what about that deeper meaning in these verses? For that, we need to consider the larger passage of Psalm 50— verses 10 through 15:“For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine. Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”The psalmist is warning Israel that they've become legalistic with their sacrifices. They had come to put value on the sacrifices and, by extension, themselves.God already owns the beasts of the forest and the cattle on a thousand hills— indeed all the cattle on all the hills. He owns all creatures wild and tamed, the fowls in the mountains and beasts of the fields. That said, how could He possibly be impressed with the burnt offerings of the Israelites? They were just giving him back a tiny bit of what He already owned— and then patting themselves on the back for it.Nonetheless, God did require Israel to make those sacrifices to cover sin and something else temporarily. Note verse 14 again: “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High.”This verse gives us the context we need to put things in perspective. That passage and others like it are about giving and our hearts' attitude. They're not about legalism and checking boxes. Galatians 2:16 reads, “We know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ … by works of the law no one will be justified.”Cultivating An Attitude Of GratitudeWhen we give purely out of gratitude— expecting nothing and taking no pride in it— and certainly not to earn our way into heaven— only then are we giving Him the loyalty of our hearts.God is a spiritual being. What use does he have for earthly things? None, of course. He wants our hearts. He wants us to worship him in spirit and truth. Our tithing and gifts must only be tributes to our gratitude for what He has already given us—not just material things but the priceless gift of His Son Jesus Christ for our eternal salvation. We must search our hearts to ensure we give for the right reason because He is the most High God. He sees right through us— and takes no pleasure in giving that isn't joyful and done out of gratitude.2 Corinthians 9:7 teaches, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I'm looking to invest as a hobby.
