The adventure continues now, coming into the Easter break, with some of the latest releases in our world of electronic music. Steve Roach & Jeffrey Fayman's 2002 album Trance Spirits remastered, orchestrating a thunderous sound, with an expansive array of synthetic soundworlds, textural guitar and timbre-rich Middle Eastern and West African-influenced drumming. Composed over ten years by David Helpling with guest musicians comes the double album IN, exploring the magic of space with its cinematic overtones that ascend to shattering crescendos. Enter London-based trio, Decommissioned Forests, an ambient-infused, post-industrial journey through uneasy electronica, accompanied by a sometimes bleak, sometimes hopeful spoken-word narration. Russian artist Non Dolet, Slavic folk-tinged melancholy, and pseudo film soundtrack infused beauty of a most original sounding nature. Once again, Divine Matrix and Johan Tronstam's quality of music recalls the classic 80's style of Tangerine Dream and other luminaries of the genre, with Johan producing 16 albums since his solo debut in 2008, that's just a few of a broad range of music we bring today, enjoy. Initially, an audio cassette, then a magazine/CD, and now a podcast. Sequences magazines were compiled by Mick with reviews and interviews by several other contributors, all edited by Mick into a cohesive look at contemporary and vintage Electronic Music. Welcome to Sequences, time seems to be certainly flying this year, already into March with this edition, again Mick has put an excellent range of music on air for you. Syngate Records have re-released two early albums by Jack Spruch known as E-Motion, who sadly departed this world to soon in 2013. It’s been awhile since we featured Steve Hillman and his collaboration with Greek composer Thaneco has produced an exceptional album, Empyreal, hear one of our favourite dark wave bands, Mercury’s Antennae, also feeling a bit more adventurous, we indulged in some tasty Kraut rock from Russian Maat Lander and the boys will be drooling over the looks of Alira Mun, presenting her vocals on Gemma, produced by Thy Veils, Daniel Dorobantu, probably will not go down to well with the stance listeners of electronic music, who remembers the disappointment from some fans towards the first two tracks of Tangerine Dream’s Cyclone album. Ich war beim diesjährigen Ars Electronica Festival in Linz vor Ort und habe die beeindruckende Live-Performance “Memories of Now – Spirit of the Positron” der österreichischen Comic-Künstlerin Michaela Konrad – in Koproduktion mit dem rumänischen Multi-Media-Künstler Daniel Dorobantu – besucht. Nach der Vorführung der Video-Installation gaben beide Künstler spannende Eindrücke über ihre Arbeit preis. Die Video-Installation, die in diesem Radiobeitrag näher vorgestellt wird, wird bis Ende 2012 in der Ars Electronica in Linz zu sehen sein.
