We kick off this edition with Robert Schroeder's new release, ‘Into The Light', drifting away into dream worlds by letting yourself be beamed into other dimensions with space effects, mysterious spheres, deep strings and dreamy melodies. Erik Wollo returns with an assemblage of acoustic guitars. Erik says everything you hear is acoustic, with no synths used on the new album ‘Cloud Of Strings'. One musician who has graced our airwaves many times has been ELEON. His new album is a stunning atmospheric world of divine dimensions with guest musicians, including Grammy-nominated recording artist David Helpling. Polypores returns for his second album on the Din label with ‘Multizonal Mind scramble', a feast of modular textures and syncopated glitchy oscillators that swell and fade into strange sound worlds. On the female side, Lucy Claire produces a fusion of classical cinematic and world influences intertwined with bittersweet piano motifs. Now and again, we like to look back into the past, this time with Airsculpture's first album released in 1995, ‘Impossible Geometries'. In those days, this three-piece band's performances were 100% improvised, greatly influenced by Tangerine Dream of the 70s. As always, we are governed by the releases that come in every month; we've certainly had our fair share this time of ambient, symphonic, neo-classical & experimental stuff for this podcast. In addition to what would have been Vangelis's 80th birthday, there are tributes from Michael Neil on his album ‘Into Infinity', & Aural Films, with thirty-seven artists from around the world who have contributed their own reflections on his vast career, four & half hours of music, we've selected four tracks from this special collection titled ‘Tears In The Rain'. Someone you may not have heard of, Philip Jeck, who died last year, worked with old records and record players salvaged from junk shops. He really did play them as musical instruments, genuinely creating moving and transfixing music where we hear the art, not the gimmick. On the album ‘Stardust' he collaborated with Faith Coloocia. Los Angeles-based artist and producer Cynthia Bernard, known as Marine Eyes, is one half of the ambient duo Awakened Souls with her debut solo album ‘Chamomile'. Tewksbury's new record ‘Brutes' is just that, made up of just two expansive pieces. Interestingly, these loops were recorded on gargantuan 60-foot analog tape reels, then played through eight guitar amps at once, which were actually highly listenable. Orchestra Indigo produces larger-scale compositions that tend to be minimalistic neo-impressionist works that are always designed to evoke emotions, Omri Cohen and Snoopy Over The Hills, who have a common passion for ambient music created using modular synthesizers, share their music on the community Ambient Modular fifth release. We open this session with Mark Shreeve, who sadly passed away recently, making a powerful statement in the electronic music scene in the 80s with his breakthrough album ‘Assassin', appearing at the very first UK Electronica in 1983, again by popular demand, the following year. Luke Schneider represents a radical new approach to the versatile sounds of the steel guitar, a total reinvention of an iconic instrument. SUSS go under the architects of ambient country, with their unique combination of classic Americana instrumentation, with loops and synthesizers, and the unearthly tones of Harry Bertoia sculptures, cluster of thin metal rods dozens of them with small weights on top, Bertoia coined the term "sonambient" to describe them. Manikin Records, celebrating its 30th year with a CD titled Third Decade 2012 to 2022, unreleased recordings from musicians who have released albums in that period on the label. The adventure continues now, coming into the Easter break, with some of the latest releases in our world of electronic music. Steve Roach & Jeffrey Fayman's 2002 album Trance Spirits remastered, orchestrating a thunderous sound, with an expansive array of synthetic soundworlds, textural guitar and timbre-rich Middle Eastern and West African-influenced drumming. Composed over ten years by David Helpling with guest musicians comes the double album IN, exploring the magic of space with its cinematic overtones that ascend to shattering crescendos. Enter London-based trio, Decommissioned Forests, an ambient-infused, post-industrial journey through uneasy electronica, accompanied by a sometimes bleak, sometimes hopeful spoken-word narration. Russian artist Non Dolet, Slavic folk-tinged melancholy, and pseudo film soundtrack infused beauty of a most original sounding nature. Another collection that's seen more ambient, ethereal, atmospheric music for our second March edition. Always eager to hear a new album from Steve Jolliffe; like the last few releases, just one track of changing structures & sounds. New faces to grace our airways are Elinch from German, a modular synthesist whose calm, slow-moving sound canvases develop into minimalist ambient epics. Female artist Allegorist has been meandering through stories with her purposeful and introspective take on electronic music, with London-based musician and filmmaker going under the name of Blessed Are The Hearts That Bend has a soundtrack to a non-existent film; listeners can create the movie in their head as the album washes over you, a film without pictures. It was totally unexpected to hear about the recent passing of Thomas Fanger, a significant player as a solo artist & with his collaboration with Manikin musician & label owner Mario Schonwalder & friends over the last couple of decades. It's certainly starting off this new year with a host of new releases, already filling this one & our forthcoming Feb edition, featuring some of our well known musicians with their new albums, including who's music has spanned over many decades includes Airsculpture, Andy Pickford, Erik Wollo, Ian Boddy & Sam Rosenthal. It was great to see one of the old school, Peter Beasley back with a new album who has been fighting with Parkinson disease since 2002. We welcome three new comers to Sequences, Sarah Davachi with ambient drone on an epic scale, ethereal & expansive. The slow melody & harmonies of Chrys Bodcast space journey, & the band Bodhiheart, 4 highly respected musicians who have performed & recorded with some of the greats in various genres. The opening track from Airsculpture, a lockdown recording with the original concept, was to lead on it being a Halloween broadcast, with lots of spooky darkness. With Christmas nearly upon us, we are going to take time off to chill-out after a busy year with the podcasts. This edition will be the only one for December so as a bonus, we have given you an extra hour of engaging music to enjoy.
